Yeah, Danny will often wear a jersey of a local team during concerts. When they were here in Tulsa last year he wore a t-shirt that just said TITTIES AND BEER, lol.

2 things to note, the length of Danny's drum sticks compared to other drummers and how straight up he sits on the drum seat : VERY strong core!!!

Danny plays alot of polyrhythms so that why you're "thrown off" by the beat. Not an easy feat, especially when he incorporates multiple polyrhythms at the same time. Awesome reaction. -Spiral Out!!
I appreciate your comment Chris! I’m familiar with polyrhythms from rap, but I didn’t make the connection! It sounds incredibly difficult to be able to keep up all those different tempos at once. Sick!
You don't try to "count" TOOL riffs.
You feel them.

On top of that sometimes each instrument is on a different signature but they come back together every so many bars. So a minimum of four listens but focusing on an instrument each time -- Maynard is an instrument usually, at least the cadence as percussion but also tonality. And then Danny has so many sounds you almost have to listen 10 more times focusing on a particular sound and it's pattern through the whole thing. Eventually you find the instrument that is the main "common clock" to bop your head to... but that moves around too.
