No, he didn't he was 100% incorrect on his prediction of the outcome of Desert Storm and US troops facing Saddam Hussein's Royal Guard... He said we'd lose 10's of thousands of troops in the first hour and get our asses handed to US... He lost a ton of credibility over that as his prediction could not have been more inaccurate.
I respect the late Colonel Hackworth, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading, "About Face;" however, we Americans really get into hero worship and idolatry often to our own detriment.
He deserves our thanks, respect and gratitude; however, he's not infallible regarding his perspective and insights on our military (probably on anything beyond what went wrong on Vietnam).
His thoughts that there will be no wars between super-powers will certainly be proven wrong as the world continues to repeat the same mistakes and march towards WWIII.
The late Col. was one of the Greatest Americans " warriors" this country has produced. And this is coming from a retired Marine.
His book " About Face" should be required reading for ALL military and potential recruitees.

In retrospect, Mr. Hackworth was wrong. Serbia capitulated after 70 smth days, once Nato started bombing. Serbia wasnt that tough afterall once confronted with a real force.
You forget that their nation was depleted from 6 years of war in Bosnia and Croatia, What was left was just a skeleton of it's previous power. In then end Serbs did not lose militarily but psychologically. Their people where too tired of war. (same as USA in Vietnam)
He was willing to be wrong for a "just in case" scenario. Nothing wrong with being 100 percent sure there will be no American boots on the ground. Because I rather say Hack was wrong than right. Wouldn't you? If no one was going to give checks and balances before a potential deadly U.S. war, then Hack was going to do it. RIP.

You should read what capitulation means and what a cease fire ... serbia didnt capitulate but signed a treaty to be upheld by international forces not nato..
@@vanjonga and we signed because of guarantees that Kosovo stays in Serbia (UN security council resolution 1244). This promise was blatantly broken and international law was shat on. Both by starting the NATO intervention and subsequently by false guarantees
