  • This video tutorial goes through the steps to create a terrain model through the use of SubD tools in Rhino 7. The key steps in this video can be found below:
    00:00 - Introduction
    00:16 - Creating a SubD plane
    00:37 - Subdividing the plane into a larger number of faces/ vertices
    01:17 - Turning on 'Control Points' to edit the plane via its vertices
    01:46 - Using 'Soft Transform' to transform multiple vertices within a radius
    03:28 - Adjusting the 'Radius' of the 'Soft Transform' to add detail
    05:00 - Creating contour lines from the SubD surface
    06:55 - Using 'Patch' command create a surface from the contours
    07:50 - Tidying the surface into a square block using 'Trim'
    08:36 - Extruding the terrain surface into a 3d model

    I really love your videos and have learned a lot from them. Thank you. In this video, why don't you use TONURBS when changing from subD to a poly surface?
