In this video, I finally open up about the unhealthy habits I struggle with and the addiction that I needed to stop this year because of the effect it was having on my life.
    ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Hey guys, welcome back to another video and in this one, I wanted to open up about some of the things I have struggled with massively on my fitness journey. Because my journey has been far from perfect and to get to the place I am on, I've had many setbacks, I've gone down a lot of wrong paths and I'm still trying to get better every single day.
But I know that being open and honest about these things is so powerful because it helps you guys realise that you're not the only one that finds the whole getting in great shape thing difficult. And if hearing back the unhealthy habits I struggle with and the "addiction" that almost ruined my life prevents you from making the same mistakes, that's amazing.
So I hope you get something from it!
And on top of that, I do of course have some brand new low calorie high protein meals to share with you. So if you're following any sort of diet whether it's to lose fat or gain muscle and you're looking for some calorie friendly, high protein meals that are easy to make, these will be right up your street!

definitely developed a binge eating disorder once i got super into this from me being too aggressive in my caloric deficit. sucks, it still effects me to this day but i've been going strong for the most part since new years. i don't cut as aggressively anymore but those binge thoughts do creep up on me every now and then.

@@CDelgado21 Same here. Once I get to 9% or 10% body fat I develop a binge eating disorder. I can eat 5000 or more calories in one afternoon. It sucks and I have to restrict my calories for the next day or two to get myself back. It definitely messes with your head.

I find it difficult trying to lose weight because I'm in culinary school so always surrounded by food. And I'm always thinking about food. Also, food is one of my stress relievers so it's so difficult to stay on a meal plan. Especially with all of the tasting that goes on in my culinary program. If you had a schedule which changed all the time and you couldn't eat consistent meals, what would you do? How do you deal with thinking about food all the time?

One unhealthy habit I have picked up is that I won’t eat anything that I don’t know the calories for. Like today I was craving this pasty that they make at a local bakery but I refused to go have one because there is no way to know exactly how many calories are in it. I’ll have a treat but only if i KNOW it can be tracked

In the US we have some ridiculous low cal breads that I find are such a versatile addition to any meal. I always get the Keto Bread by L'Oven which is 35 cal/slice. When toasted they are actually indistinguishable from normal bread imo. An absolute game-changer! There is another brand called Extraordinary Bites Keto Bread that I want to try that are only 30 cals per 31g slice! 🤯I will usually toast the bread and then soak them in egg whites to make a macro-friendly French toast, then I drizzle on some 10 cal maple syrup and cinnamon and have it with a 30 cal almond milk latte. With 4 slices of French Toast the entire meal comes to < 300 cal.

Caffeine has really been a tough addiction for me. The fitness industry really promotes black coffee/sugar free Monsters in my opinion and it doesn't help. I've tried quitting and cutting down on caffeine and the withdrawals are legit worse than quitting cigarettes for me. I am currently drinking max 3 black coffees and 1 monster a day, and am fine with that at the moment. If I do however go over on a day where I'm feeling tired, the next day I'm extra tired. Also, I was smoking a pack of cigarettes a day throughout most of my fitness journey (7 years) and have attempted to quit many times. I couldn't deal with the withdrawals and it really impacted my mental health as I have quite a history with anxiety/OCD/depression. I switched to vaping a month ago and it really satisfies my nicotine cravings, and my gym/boxing/running performance have skyrocketed. I know it's not ideal to vape, but it's a lot better than smoking. I'm just very addicted to stimulants.

I cut soda totally out of my life more than 3 years ago. I have substituted sparkling water and the occasional Celsius beverage. To be honest Celsius is NOT that addictive to me because it's got a sub par flavor and it's too darn sweet. It's sweetened with Sucralose and that's always to friggin sweet. I only use those for the occasional pre workout. In my opinion soda is absolutely no good not even the diet stuff.

    • @Roxxyy26

Same here. I was consuming 4 cans of Diet soda a day and I kept reading how bad it is for my body. Now I can't even drink any. Too sweet. I do drink pre workout but stick to the dose. That can be hard, like Jonathan, needing the energy.

I'm probably losing out on some strength/muscle gains. But my programming is solid, I progressively overload week after week, I consume plenty of protein, my sleep is always 7 hours or more and I don't drink a huge amount of alcohol. So even though a calorie surplus would most certainly help, I still see progress because these other components of muscle growth are strong.
