Since 2014, I have been working with the same first-generation JBL. Then I became a refugee from the war and my entire studio in Irpen was destroyed by the Russians. I ended up in Western Europe and needed to buy small monitors to keep working. The choice fell on the cheapest Eris E5. Oh yeah! These small boxes with a front bass reflex surprised me very much. First of all, with its balanced smooth sound. Yes, there is no sub-bass at all, but the rest of the bass is incredibly clear. You can put them anywhere and with their phase inverter directed at you, they will play bass right in your face, which is very convenient. And most importantly. JBLs distort the musical space very much. They have a certain depth in sound. Plus a stretched stereo panorama. The quality of this picture is so-so. It is very fluffy. Sometimes I get lost with it. Presonus sound very balanced, as I already wrote. There is no such muddy depth. For which I am very happy with them. Yes, I forgot to write that in the studio that I lost, there was a lot more plus very good old JBL 2328. They were very good. I miss you girls((

On RUclips the JBL's sound better as the eris5's sound boxy, but in the real world where I've actually heard them the PreSonus's do sound much more balanced and the boxyness turns into punchy accuracy "for me". I now own the eris E5's and I am happy with them... That's my take on it anyway
I also made direct comparison of these two at local music store today and I had exactly the same impression: the sound of the E5's seems more accurate to me, with much tighter bass and more balanced overall. The 305's play much wider spectrum with deeper bass (surprising considering the size), but the bass is less articulate and the overall sound is a bit more hollow. I also compared them to much more expensive monitors (FOCAL CMS 50 among others) and to my ears, the E5's come closer. So for me: E5's for critical listening and 305's with their more open and spacy sound with sparkling upper-mids for hi-fi, definitely - I liked both, though. Anyway, thanks a lot, @Digital Stereophony for the loads of great audio/video comparisons!
Agreed....Presonus seems to have a really nice crisp punch that suits my personal taste. May pull the trigger on these tonight. Wish I could use your link DS, you deserve it! Im out of the country customs in the Ph. would double my price.
I've owned the E5 for about a year, and my good friend has the LSR305's. Both are great, JBL has better bass and slightly warmer, rounder sound. E5 have better detail, better instrumental separation, better imaging and soundstage (not huge margins, but noticable). If you're going to run a subwoofer, the JBL's bass response isn't important. I'm running the E5's with a 10" studio sub and it's an incredible "budget" desktop or mixing setup.
I think you are just more used to the sound of the E5 so a natural bias will occur, i dont know about detail but as far as separation, Soundstage and imaging is concerned, the jbl image control wave guide has been on top test after test in this price segment. Again, once ur used to a sound, it becomes the default pleasant signature,e e especially when the competition is only slightly better
Let’s be honest, both are simply brilliant, you can’t go wrong with either one. Really digging these comparisons through all the speakers you do. 🏴👍
1. "Sharpness" is now in my 'forever playlist'. 2. I bought the JBLs from Guitar Center. It wasn't fair how much better they sounded than the rest at the store!!! I've got them at home now, and have ZERO regrets. #JBLftw
I'm listening on Eris E4.5, and The JBL sound like they have a wider range, but the mids are lacking ....The e5 sound richer and the mids are more forward and pronounced, although a bit on the warm side. I recently got the e4.5's and no regrets. I didn't need a sub until I heard them with a sub attached....so far I've used the high pass filter on the e4.5's set to 100Hz, and letting the 8" crappy logitech sub fill in the rest. Not a perfect solution, but the sound is amazing. I love the vocals and highs I get out of the e4.5, and sub is setup to simply fill in the punch. Great speakers.
It wasn't until the song Confluence where I really noticed the difference. With that song the E5 suddenly sounds a lot nicer to the ears compared to the LSR305. Still like them both though.
i got the 4.5 too. Mine got a pretty loud static noise when turned on with only the power cable connected. can you confirm? is it just a bad product i got or regular?
Wai kiki seems to be the norm. Mine, did the same after breakin. It's pretty annoying when I'm not listening to music, and I'm getting predisposed to hearing it even while music is playing. That being said, when they are pushing music, they sound amazing. So I think I'm keeping them. I'll just have to power them down when not listening to music or movies. A non issue for me.
So I can confirm that mine are emitting this "white noise" like sound. IT's very low, like a hum, but it's certainly present. To day I tested Rocket 5's and 6's, JBL 308's, Yamaha HS5, 8's, and 10's, as well as M-Audio BX5's, and all had this hum. Perhaps the Rocket 5's were the lease noticeable, but these were nearly on the floor, so maybe i just didn't hear it. This was done in aGuitar center store...I then asked the sales person, and he stated that that "noise" is normal for powered studio monitors. I was able to confirm that with each of the monitors at the store..some were really loud (a brand I don't recall), but must had a very subtle sound. From the salesman words...this is normal.
I heard these two pairs in music shop yesterday and finally I bought JBL. It's very hard to notice difference when watching this video, but it is huge in low frequencies. Both have great sound reproduction (for me), but Presonus sounds like they are more suitable for configuration with subwoofer I think. Where Presonus starts to reproduce any sound about 55 Hz, JBL plays nice deep sound at 42-43 Hz. I also heard Monkey Banana Gibbon 5 in the same shop and they pleasantly surprised me. I can describe their sound as very similar to JBL, there is only difference in high frequencies. Monkey Banana's highs are a little quieter and "softer" where JBL are more "aggressive" at this range, but it is very small and subjective difference. I highly recommend to listen to these speakers in the same environment, e.g. in music shop, instead of watching videos like this. These videos can sometimes be misleading ;)
Really similar sound but maybe I can prove more bass in JBL. Both options are so good to buy . I've bought Presonus E5 two days ago so I'll tell you my experience.
@@ferruizmusico8126 I have the jbls. With a cable straight into my computer there was a lot of hiss. But I have an external dac now and theres 0 hiss unless you turn the volume knobs and the back to max, which I wouldnt do anyway because thats way too loud
The Ol' Wharfedale Diamond 8.1, (9.1, 10.1), and the "British Bronze" against, lol, these two. The Articulation and presentation of these 2 today is amazing. Taking away the influence of Powered, just asking "Which would you get right now", these or these? for just the sheer pleasure and happiness.
Thanks for listing the music sources. A demonstration of headroom would be useful: turn them both up until the point of obvious distortion onset, then play them both at that level, so the relative loudness of where that happens on each can be heard. One quick way of identifying the level of onset of gross distortion is to send them a mono (correlated) pink noise signal and send one channel in reverse poalrity. Place the pair face to face and raise the level until distortion is heard. The distortion is very obvious this way, plus the character of the distortion is made clear so when the speaker is played in correct polarity you will immediately recognize the distortion when it occurs. You should also measure the spl at which distortion occurs by facing the speakers normally and un-reversing the polarity of the reversed speaker.
Of all the JBL LSR305 comparisons...i'd say having listened to them all, that this particular match up with Presonus is the closest and nearly no difference between the switches, where it's really noticeable with other brand comparisons.
I have the E5, and I agree, the lower mids on the E5 are elevated. It can actually get really annoying at times, especially when you try to listen at low volumes but all you hear is a boomyness coming through over everything
Listening with the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro and the Eris sound a little better, the mids seem to sound cleaner, but the rest sounds pretty much the same
What a Battle! Both are Brilliant, and excellent choice DB. You simply cannot go wrong with either one. JBL more polite, more expansive, I think. As always incredible imaging. Such balance. WOW, PreSonus nice one! I'm sold! This E5 I feel is a definite consideration at any time. I thought PreSonus was a little mare tactile, and beautifully managed, I'm a believer. This was Epic Battle! Just a thought, these 305's and the Mackie MR5'S are so well done, hard to tell difference, the voicing and that pristine tweet on top!
These E5's are better than the E5 XT in my opinion. These PreSonus remind me of my Kali's, L6, with a little less LFE. Kali's are better, it's just so close. Kali L6 - 9.0 JBL 305-8.7 Pre E5's -8.7
Fantastic Bass on the Eris E5. Wider range, overall, on the JBL's, IMO. Both sounded pretty darn good, though. I like how your comparison technique has evolved, Digital Stereophony. This has become one of my favorite channels to listen and compare...etc. Oh, and the tunes you're picking to sample are cool, too! Maybe some exclusive passive bookshelf speakers to test in the future???
Thanks Roger! Unfortunately I will not test any passive speaker any time soon. With my limited time resources I want to focus on active and powered spekers. Cheers!
I really like your channel and the way that you compare the speakers. I usually listen closely with good headphones to hear the differences. It's quite interesting for us consumers to hear the different products in action. Keep up the good work.
Which monitor is better if my desk is straight against the wall and i have (almost) no acoustic treatment? Since the E5's have the bass port on the front they would be better or is that factor not as big as some people say? Hope you or someone else can answer me. Anyway, great video! :)
If You can manage to have 10-15 cm of space between the back of speakers and the wall than You can go with speakers with bass reflex port on the back. If the speakers must stand with less than 10cm of space behind than front port is the way to go
Digital Stereophony Thanks for the quick reply. My room is quite limited. Only enough room for my closet, bed and desk. I ordered the presonus Eris e5 (I already have the 4.5 so I hope it's a good upgrade) and the swissonic asm7 (brand from Thomann with good reviews). The asm7's are the same price as the E5's but they have a 6.5 inch woofer so I'm quite interested. Maybe a product you could test too (if you are able to buy from Thomann of course haha). Cheers!
Hmm, E4.5 and E5 sound quite different to be honest, but E5 is definetly a step up in terms of clarity and accuracy. I have never tested ASM7's but interesting proposition non the less so I am waiting for Your opinion on how it compares to E5! Cheers!
A few days ago i received both speakers and I'm quite happy with both of them. In the end i decided to keep the Presonus Eris E5's because of their size and sound. The ASM7's were pretty good as well but they really need to be cracked a bit for the bass to kick in. The Presonus Eris E5's also are quite a bit louder, on the gain control on the back i have them at the first stripe and the ASM7's are half way and then they are even in terms of volume, when im cranking my mixer the ASM7's get louder the more i increase volume (not as much is i expected though). The E5's (common complain) have a tiny bit of hiss when silent (i dont mind and actually dont hear it unless i specifically listen for it) but the ASM7's are way worse. I think the ASM7's have a bit better bass response (probably cuz of that larger woofer) but overall i like the E5's more. The highs are good on both speakers but i like the fact that the E5's tweeter is protected while the ASM7's tweeter is pushed in if you touch it slightly. I did have the room control on the E5's on -2db because the bass was a bit too much for me, even on lower volumes. Overall i think the asm7's are a great pair of speakers for someone who have a relatively big room and can crank the speakers a bit more than i can (student in a 4 x 3 meter room with parents and neighbors that complain fast xD). I use them as guitar speakers when im practicing and/or recording in my daw. The E5's sound good on low volume and also great when cranked. the ASM7's sound a bit dull on lower volumes but for the price you get a great set of speakers with a big woofer (paper of some sort i think) The ASM7's are really heavy compared to the E5's but the build quality is great, another good thing is that they have a standby mode. The E5 also look a bit more "premium" with the high quality looking woofer and the nice blue LED while the ASM7's look a bit cheaper and fragile with their paper woofer and oh so delicate tweeter. Sorry for the long comment haha. Anyway i really appreciate these videos you do and think they give a good indication on how some speakers compare in a not perfect acoustic treated environment. Keep up the good work! :)
Eris presonus established in their own owner's manual, that the product may have lead and other toxic chemicals that are dangerous for the health and can produce cancer Prop 65 California. You can't know how much of these stuff have in it, directly in the parts or as a result of the manufacturing and treatments like a residue. That was the reason between all the 200-300 monitor for pair, that I take for choose ones with great quality but primarily not being harmful, (among the shipping, taxes, etc, because i am not from USA). I found in 5 inches, jbl lsr305, mackie mr524, Alesis active 1 mk3 like and option and free of that bad stuff, obviously are other brands... but that fit in my consideration. The information is in the owner's manual of the own company. And sorry for my english...
Gracias !!
for a moment ive just enjoyed listening the music because i stopped to see a difference between those two QQ. im planing to get "pc speakers" but this rather going to be 4.5 is there a big difference between 5 and 4.5? the 305 is dran good sounding speaker tbh, maybe only mackie/adam sounds better for my taste
FFFKKK!!! while JBL sounded less colourful. i rly liked how Roxanne sounded on Presonus... Then again i am listening all this on JBL305s ... what a mind job! Btw i am sold by your wharfedale 225 review (nice site) and i am buying a pair. Do i need big power to drive them or they are efficient?
Hi, have you tried to listen also to the Sceptres S6? i wonder which ones sounds best.. sceptres, eris or jbl..? also wanted to ask you, are these monitors are great for casual listening with pc,as well? or mostly for producing and mixing? thanks.
+Audio Gal I have not heard Sceptres S6 yet. Eris is good for casual listening if a bit analytical. JBL hits the sweet spot for me between fun and precise speaker, highly recommended for casual listening
I do not know how much sense makes getting a signal graphs as I do not have an anechoic chamber and the graphs will show the room more than the speakers themselves.
That's not true at all. All you need to do is run a test with RoomEQ Wizard and post those graphs (SPL smoothed to 1/3 octave) and you can play these "listen" tests in the background. You need a test microphone (like the ECM8000) and your room needs to at least be treated for early reflections. The speakers need to be placed in a spot where there is no comb filtering and minimal SBI (placing them as close to the wall as possible is your best bet). When you do these 'listen' tests, the viewer/listener is ONLY hearing is your room = your RT60 combined with low end issues AND reflections + SBI and comb filters. So in essence, these tests are actually WORSE than doing a proper measurement. If people are smart, they will ignore anything on your graphs below 200Hz.
+Carlo Scrignaro thanks for the tips! I actually have emc8000 at home. When I move to new place I will test this and if it works like You described than You will see some graphs here as well. Do You maybe have any sources with more description about this topic so I could read into it?
Thanks for all the info, I will look into it! Hopefully I will be able to implement more proffesional tests to my repertoire ;) I just can not promise it will happen any time soon though... Cheers!
This statement shows the lack of experience in a control room. Flat response is not the deciding factor on reference monitoring. Don't trust your eyes to tell you what sounds best for any application.
Hi, While I don't have much to say about E4.5, I do like the big brother E5. They are a bit narrower in sound and more forward in upper frequencies than JBL's. The instrument separation seems better than LSR305 in "The Last Stand". They seem nice for Rock/Metal and not great for Hip-Hop/EDM. How do they perform in the living room? Having more room to perform I have the impression that they do well, better that in nearfield. Do they? What about against JBL's?
For a livingroom I am afraid they have too lean bass, at least in my opinion. With subwoofer they would sound great though. Regarding comparison with JBL, I found JBL more enjoyable regardless of music genre, the closest they got to each other was in vocal music, the biggest advantage for JBL was in music with lots of bass content.
Yeah I can certainly agree with that. I have the on my desk in my home office and they work great. I ignored the attenuation suggestions on the speakers and was able to get a bit more umpf out of them as they are close to a wall. For RUclips listening (not your channel of course :) ) online classes, and just low background music I found them to be amazing. But for lively, feel it in your gut music, it certainly was lacking. In my case, that I am not recording anything, I just like clean and clear music, I find that for less that the price of 2 e5's, or the JBLs and just about every other 5" pair out there... The e4.5 paired with a 8" sub will out perform under $300.
Carlos Rey The short answer is no. They are not bad but because they lack too much on low end (just like HS5) they scream for a subwoofer which I found out that I don't like. After I got the LSR305's I wanted more bass and got the LSR310s too, and to my surprise, I don't like it most of the time. I connected first the speakers through the subwoofer and the bass was usually too much on high volume and too little on low volume. I could hear the speakers having no body and what was coming from the subwoofer was so thick that it made me feel like something is missing, and didn't like that at all. There was no more melodic low end or surround. So instead I have them connected through a jack Y splitter in parallel and turn the subwoofer up as an addition of bass when I watch movies or in the mood of some heavy bass type of music. I found a way to have a little boost in bass like I wanted in the first place by place them closer to the wall but not too much to make it echoey or muddy. I still mess around form time to time with the settings and placement but I end up with them back the same.

Listening to this on earbuds, and then listening on my old ass JVC reciever powered stero paints different pictures about these monitors. On earbuds the JBL sounds slightly clearer but the bass isn't as present where the Presonus seem like they did a better job over all. On the stereo which adds a ton of bass and color to the audio, the extra bass makes the presonus sound muddy as hell, where the JBLs are very clear and I can hear a lot more detail w/o the bass drowning everything out. I really got to compare these in person. 😂
LSR's definitely edge out the E5, more open sounding, three-dimensional, better clarity and better bass response. That being said, the E5 sounded great, but they were just a little more two dimensional, definitely a flatter image, so potentially better in certain studio applications, but for pure listening experience (which is 99% of people buying these) I thought the 305's were the clear winner. They just sound more alive!
Thanks for the reply. So could you suggest a good 4-5 inch monitor speaker that doesn't emit sound when idle? Something for a desktop scenario close to a corner?
Not more than 400 euro for 2 monitors. Right now I have a pair of Edifier R1600T Plus on my desk and while the sound is not so amazing, at least they stay quiet on idle. Maybe some front ported speakers would be better in a corner? Thanks in advance, this is my setup - cvws.icloud-content.com/B/AddFYoUWc1V2pRGFaT3zyHA5CZPrATvH59cfZclolRQ_Pl-DRlTzRHG0/PC+Setup.jpg?o=Akj59-EFE5mtkNWjHwULv7QASYXSeo27e471-BhlwhhC&v=1&x=3&a=BXgpIc131I36A0SaPw&e=1512399566&k=qLcecl2ngxF8IFcwDW1_xg&fl=&r=e7d3ec9a-a49c-49fd-b296-9d23b0009628-1&ckc=com.apple.clouddocs&ckz=com.apple.CloudDocs&p=20&s=YcRz44mJCrDLPi_Bc5wA9S2eV_s&cd=i
As You are already familiar with Edifier, You could try Edifier S1000DB. It is much better sounding speaker than R1600T and also very quiet. My only concern is that is a touch bass heavy, but there are tone controls to work this around.
+Criss Cross You need a proper cable like this store.synthrotek.com/Hosa-Stereo-Breakout-35mm-TRS-to-Dual-14-TS-3FT_p_535.html to connect monitors to 3.5mm headphone output in Your TV. That is the most straight forward solution
jbl tiene mas definición en graves, mas detalles en esas frecuencias y presonus suena un poco mas claro en medios, son mas presentes... pero sin lograr un low end detallado
The Presonus Eris E5 win here, fuller sound, more detail, better lows. By comparison, the LR305s sound mostly correct but lifeless, noticeably deficient in bass and with some missing detail in the mids. On top of that, the LR305s have a larger footprint. All this at the same price.. it's a no-brainer, unless this recording is not accurate. The E5's fuller bass might be a bit tiresome for longer listening, though, I'd rather cut some of that.
Neuronz Plusplus Actually, that's because the JBL's are a bit flatter, I've used the eris for 4 years and now use JBL, don't get me wrong the eris is a great speaker and all studio monitors take getting used to. Here's my verdict. Presonus sounds very slightly muffled compared to the JBL, the The Presonus has a slightly tighter midrange, The JBL has more definition and clarity as well as wider stereo imagining because of the wave guide, you can also hear the low end better and a bit more detailed with the JBL's and I find them to be less fatiguing than the presonus which I found I got listening fatigue quite easy from.
Kirill Storozhenko I wouldn't say the highs are harsh but they're very forward, on the JBLS they sound more neutral and detailed, on the presonus after a while it sounds like the high end is stabbing your ears, it also depends on what you're producing, I produce a lot of Techno and so mixing lots of different percussions and hi hats and rides etc is crucial, if you're making something like say pop or future bass it won't be as bad because those elements aren't emphasised. It's not to say the high isn't good on the Presonus but I find it fatiguing, almost like it cuts through if that makes sense. They more sound balanced on the JBLS, the only thing I'd say from my own listening experience is the mid on the presonus has a tiny bit more presence than the JBL, that being said I've produced songs on the presonus that have got radio play and big support, any monitor takes getting used to, but if I had to choose now, I'd say JBL. Although I like them both, the JBL just has more detail and clarity, like the sounds are jumping out at you, lots of micro details to be heard, on the presonus I find the sounds don't have much depth, especially in the lower end they start getting muffled.
i mix pop vocals and have small space to the wall so the only chance to place the speakers is to place them close to the wall and i`m afraid that this is bad when you have rear port like in jbl. so maybe i should try presonus eris (also have presonus studio 68 audio interface so i trust presonus team) but what you say about sound makes me thinking...
Kirill Storozhenko Rear ports usually have cleaner bass if you just make sure it isn't too close to the wall or use bass traps, front port sometimes give you a really boomy bass, not always but yeah, I can tell you for vocals the jbl will give you way more depth and details and pronunciation, also remember the JBL goes to 43 hz, the e4.5 goes to 70hz and e5 goes to 55hz. Also with jbls you have a huge sweets pot, the sweet spot on the eris isn't big. Just put them a few cm from the wall and you won't have a problem at all.
305 at high volume clearly have bass you can ear but the bass from a sub adds a physical sensation of bass that is much more pleasant, it is hard to describe. next i would like to try a $15 buttkicker on my chair to see if this other type of physical sensation of bass is more interesting or even complementary to a sub.
Presonus has NO groove in mids or highs only mud. JBL has a little bit of sounds in a treble and mids, but bass is the same shit at in both monitors. JBL wins! I understand if Presonus mids and treble was so good so you can't heard them, but no it is just mud and not accuracy at all. Presonus sounds awful.
When i watch this with JBL, Eris sounds better and when with Eris, JBL sounds better. send help
I miss you girls((

russians are the worst aren't they.
Hi, can ypu please tell me if E5 produce noise while turned on and not playing?
absolutly right, i have the eris 8, they are awesome
i owe Eris E8 and theyre amazing! + i got a Temblor T10!
I'm running the E5's with a 10" studio sub and it's an incredible "budget" desktop or mixing setup.
which 10'' studio sub? Must be much more expensive than the E5s.. is it worth it? Cheap subs spoil more than add.
Alright, lets be honest here, between these two, it is coming down to preference, I dont hear a clear "better" here.
Antilli, exactly my thoughts.
i got the 4.5 too.
Thanks for the insight! Where You looking for monitors for music production or for music listetning?
Digital Stereophony I was looking for monitors for music production (EDM), but I use them for music listening as well.
I prefer the presonus. I think they're more natural and with less colored cabinet
Eris are better overall. I’ve heard both as well. The JBL has a bit better dispersion width tho
Really similar sound but maybe I can prove more bass in JBL. Both options are so good to buy . I've bought Presonus E5 two days ago so I'll tell you my experience.
Excuse me,I would like to know how does E5 sounds like? (vs JBL)
Does the presonus have hiss noise. Because the jbl seems to have
@@ferruizmusico8126 I have the jbls.
Eris sound like monitors, LSR like HiFi
Interesting idea. I will try to test this soon! Cheers!
Of all the JBL LSR305 comparisons...i'd say having listened to them all, that this particular match up with Presonus is the closest and nearly no difference between the switches, where it's really noticeable with other brand comparisons.
presonus!!! more details
They are almost same detail wise. But I hear a clear low mid from Presonus. But I think Jbl is a bit clear overall. So I would go with Jbl
I have the E5, and I agree, the lower mids on the E5 are elevated. It can actually get really annoying at times, especially when you try to listen at low volumes but all you hear is a boomyness coming through over everything
your videos are so perfect
Kali L6 - 9.0
JBL 305-8.7
Pre E5's -8.7
Which is better for producing and mixing hip-hop and pop ?
JBL LSR305 better sound for me audio-technica ath-m50x
but i love presonus for studioone somuch
If you love presonus, you should try their sceptre speakers...
go listen on real , cause to transport the sound with a stereo recorder is noct reality. Presonus Sounds awesome, and Studio one is hammer
JBL more flat,more realistic.Ideal for music producers,home studio,mixing
thanks!
I'd call it a draw. Both seem to have a certain boxiness to them which I'd eq out. Which in return would sound thin on other systems.
Скажите,для просмотра телевизора, фильмы,you tube,музыкальные каналы,эти колонки мониторы подойдут или туда нужно мультимедийные колонки(edifier) ?
Deeper bass and better high-mids on the JBL
Presonus Eris E5 . BEST
Hi this is a huge deal breaker for me as I was going for the Eris 5...could you mail a print of this to danielprodmarkt@gmail.com? Thank you
All that I can say is WOW!...Closed my eyes and the jbl's took me awayThx
i have eris5 is not bad mnitors...if you learn them you can make goodmixes and be translated good in other systems
Gracias !!
for a moment ive just enjoyed listening the music because i stopped to see a difference between those two QQ.
im planing to get "pc speakers" but this rather going to be 4.5 is there a big difference between 5 and 4.5? the 305 is dran good sounding speaker tbh, maybe only mackie/adam sounds better for my taste
Can you compare Presonus E5 vs Mackie MR6 MK3? Thanks
Presonus have a better sound stage.
listen to them in person and you wont think that
FFFKKK!!! while JBL sounded less colourful. i rly liked how Roxanne sounded on Presonus... Then again i am listening all this on JBL305s ... what a mind job!
Btw i am sold by your wharfedale 225 review (nice site) and i am buying a pair. Do i need big power to drive them or they are efficient?
+Nick Damianides I think You are mistaken, I have not reviewed Wharfedale speakers and I can not comment on amplifier for them either
Digital Stereophony, perhaps I am mistaken now that I am thinking of it. Either way keep up the great work!
JBL hits the sweet spot for me between fun and precise speaker, highly recommended for casual listening
the thing is that i have to place them against the wall, and rather not have a rear port.. do these have rear port?
+Audio Gal JBL has a rear port. Eris E5 has a front port and would work better next to the wall.
Здравствуйте , сравните версию Presonus Eris 5 BT
Can you do a real test with pink noise and signal graphs? Only thing I care about is how flat their response is.
What is DSAudios recommendation?
youtube is a good reference but id say either go to a store and listen to both or buy both sets on amazon and return the one you dont like
i am looking for presonus vs edifier S2000pro. although i know the edifiers are NOT studio monitors. just to compare
MAybe it will happen some day. Can not promise when though...
JBL
Hi,
While I don't have much to say about E4.5, I do like the big brother E5.
Did you not like the e4.5s?
Liviu Preda I have the same setup in mine... Y splitter to run the sub independently.
Czesc,
Super kanal i vlog, dobra robota z tymi testami..dzieki ci za to:-)
Mam dylemat teraz bo chce kupic Alesis Elevate 6 aktive ,ale malo kto o nich sie pisze,
brak video w sieci, i fajnie by bylo jakbys zrobil test porownawczy
Alesis Elevate 6 aktive kontra JBL LSR305.
Test Alesis Elevate 6 : www.eis.com.pl/pl/article.php?sid=2740

Listening to this on earbuds, and then listening on my old ass JVC reciever powered stero paints different pictures about these monitors.
On earbuds the JBL sounds slightly clearer but the bass isn't as present where the Presonus seem like they did a better job over all. On the stereo which adds a ton of bass and color to the audio, the extra bass makes the presonus sound muddy as hell, where the JBLs are very clear and I can hear a lot more detail w/o the bass drowning everything out.
I really got to compare these in person. 😂
resolution of eris is better. used lsr305 for several months. always felt dissatisfaction.
I actually couldn't tell the difference, hearing it with ath m70x on UR22 audio interface.
same here, i wished mine is R70X
LSR's definitely edge out the E5, more open sounding, three-dimensional, better clarity and better bass response. That being said, the E5 sounded great, but they were just a little more two dimensional, definitely a flatter image, so potentially better in certain studio applications, but for pure listening experience (which is 99% of people buying these) I thought the 305's were the clear winner. They just sound more alive!
Which of them is more silent when idle? For a desktop use I don't want any hissing noise while not playing music. Thanks
JBL is a touch quieter on idle. Both will be audible on idle in silent room though
Thanks for the reply. So could you suggest a good 4-5 inch monitor speaker that doesn't emit sound when idle? Something for a desktop scenario close to a corner?
Unfortunately most of the active or powered speakers I tested had a bit of hiss. What is Your budget?
Presonus sounds flatter allowing one to tune/ enhance low and high ends with more accuracy to sound better on commercial speakers
Presonus! es un buen rival suena excelente
presonus has coloration from the brand
Can you do a comparison of the Polk Audio T15 vs the Edifier R1280T?
I'm sorry but I do not deal with passive speakers, only active or powered.
JBL LSR305 vs Presonus Eris E5 BT pls
It seems the jbl takes away and the E5 brings that thing back in
You should add more than one mic distance for better comparison.
It is something that will be incorporated in my comparisons in the near future
please test the 305p mk2. i found just one test (the old was better).
It is coming
305 mid more detail, clean, more low. E5 toady at highs a bit
lol yeah ok
Can you compare Eris 5 vs Rcf ayra pro 5?
how would I hook up the JBL lsr305s to a TV?
+Criss Cross You need a proper cable like this
store.synthrotek.com/Hosa-Stereo-Breakout-35mm-TRS-to-Dual-14-TS-3FT_p_535.html to connect monitors to 3.5mm headphone output in Your TV. That is the most straight forward solution
Digital Stereophony ok thanks
my e5 have no bass at all...
check the "low cut-off" switch on the back and make sure it's "flat"
Eris 3.5 는 가격대비 음질 면에서 정말 최고의 스피커 라고 할수 있겠네요!
Jbl wins since it has something warm and flat but in presonus it has a preset level up presence... which is not actuallyy flat
jbl tiene mas definición en graves, mas detalles en esas frecuencias y presonus suena un poco mas claro en medios, son mas presentes... pero sin lograr un low end detallado
Presonus sounds very slightly muffled compared to the JBL, the The Presonus has a slightly tighter midrange, The JBL has more definition and clarity as well as wider stereo imagining because of the wave guide, you can also hear the low end better and a bit more detailed with the JBL's and I find them to be less fatiguing than the presonus which I found I got listening fatigue quite easy from.
why eris e5 was fatiguing? because of the harsh highs?
Just put them a few cm from the wall and you won't have a problem at all.
presonus sounds a bit "boxed" than the jbl. Now Im not sure about my future choice.
haha
Thanks for your great work !
What about Klipsch Heritage Wireless The Sixes vs Yamaha NX-N500?
It is not going to happen any time soon. Next up are Airpulse A200 and KEF X300A
The sixes are bad, very very bad. Then again so are those yamahas lol
i prefer jbl... but both are great
which wins if the goal is to mix, produce and master psychedelic music, small room, monitor near the wall.
Presonus E5
Los eris carecen de medios pero se escuchan bien.
PRESONUS E5 WIN !
Looks & size definitely go to the Eris E5's and sound quality is a tie, IMO.
very similar is would say...you need good ears here :D
Audition is not a serious test 'Cause speakers are not positioned properly, no distance no basic listening position according to need of speaker.
girl who sang roxan should never sing !!!
Red laaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.... god save...
Presonus!
Eris speakers sound more like monitoring speakers than jbl speakers.
JBL would be perfect if it has a buetooth connection.
Sheeeeit... the JBL's smoke the 4.5s. Crank up the volume.
Kool MaDa 4.5s? Yeah ok
Was on the 4.5s before this but 5.25"'s still get spanked by the 305s. Don't waste your money. Doh!
E5 sounds great but the lows are bad...jbl has better bass...
neither have bass, you need a sub for bass.
White Noise is dope O.o
mid range is better in jbl
Both have weaknesses
Presonus has NO groove in mids or highs only mud. JBL has a little bit of sounds in a treble and mids, but bass is the same shit at in both monitors. JBL wins! I understand if Presonus mids and treble was so good so you can't heard them, but no it is just mud and not accuracy at all. Presonus sounds awful.
Of course presonus is a ten times better than this so called jbl studio monitors, no Offense
305 sounds livelyer, too bad they are uglier and bigger than e5
Jbl flat ..
presonus, more details. jbl, more muddy
JBLs for sure. The Presonus sound so muddy.
These videos are full of noise. Makes it hard to appreciate the speaker quality either way.
