      Nothing you said is wise, in fact, the Lord frowns upon every aspect of the sentiment you've conveyed. The Lord doesn't want you to kill mockers and scoffers and unbelievers. The Lord wants you to show them love and compassion. You think Christ, God, and the angels of the heavenly host can't handle the mewling imprecations from animalist babes made insignificant by their destitute and hardened hearts?
      You know, what angers him more is people like you, professing his name, and profaning the holy spirit with spiritually dead words, the likes of which you have hereby espoused. You are in fact in greater danger than they are. You can be better than that, you know you can.

      @Felix88 can I just say that it doesn't matter if it was a Canadian or American actor. Brad Pitt is an excellent actor who can play many roles. Canadian or American you have to admit that we both have similar accents. He'll, I was in Australia as an American and many mistook me as Canadian. What Canadians should be proud of is that they are generally not a racist country and should show a huge example to America as it has a kind history of racism. So I say as an Ant, god bless Canada as they truly are a equel country with universal health care and ect god's bless

      Bass was determined to help Northup get released "

    The fact that people are getting upset because they think that Brad Pitt had to come in as the ‘White Savior’ just shows how ignorant and little they know the story. Even Solomon Northrup would give all credit of his restored freedom to Samuel Bass in his memoir. It also shows how little people actually consider how much power the masters and overseers had over their slaves at the time. So, NO, Mr Northrup’s chances of actually fighting for his freedom and getting out alive were VERY SLIM. It’s rather exhausting to see people just too stupid to understand that this story between Mr Northrup and Mr Bass isn’t one of cliche, but a story of one man doing the right thing to free another. THIS WAS A TRUE STORY PEOPLE! And Mr Northrup would always say to his dying breathe that Mr Bass was indeed his savior. If you were in Mr Northrup’s shoes, you wouldn’t care if Mr Bass was White, Yellow, or even Purple, all that mattered was that someone heard his story and his pleas for help and that this man chose to do what was right and even risk himself to make sure that Mr Northrup’s chains were broken.
    I love how you can see Mr Northrup fighting back tears of pure relief and joy. Like Finally, someone has heard him. Finally, someone is doing something to make things right. God bless you Samuel Bass, for doing what we all should do for our fellow man. Not seeing skin color, but a human bonded in chains pleading for help.

      @hambone31000 Bass actually didn't travel outside of Louisiana: He just wrote the letter to Henry Northup, using a careful level of anonymity to conceal his identity, because he could have been criminally prosecuted under the Fugitive Slave Act. Once Henry Northup arrived, he deciphered who and where Bass was, and then Bass told him Solomon was on Epps' Plantation.

      FACTS.I agree that the white savior trope is problematic and this is not an example of it at all.Like you said this is REALLY happened.Also only a free white guy would’ve been able to help Solomon here.No white slave owner would ever have a free black guy as a hired hand in his plantation.That would give the slaves too much idea of freedom.

      Producing rights doesn't necessarily mean he personally bank rolled the movie or whatever. It could've been agreed in his contract as part of a payment option. There is no conspiracy, Brad Pitt agreed to do this project not for ego or himself, maybe it's because he genuinely believes in this movie's message in that Slavery is a mistake and America should damn well never forget the injustice the African Americans had to go through. Don't forget, Pitt also played a role in that movie about Tibet. Subsequently, he was also banned from China too.

      I like how having Patrick Bateman as your profile pic immediately makes you sympathetic to a serial killer, as if the story of American Psycho was supposed to idolize Bateman in any way, or that having a fictional serial killer as a profile picture would make your argument that starting a slave revolt in the Antebellum South would be a bad idea. Slave revolts happened, and weren't successful. If he burned down the house, he'd probably be killed.

    The story is,..to get the money to make the film,Brad Pitt (one of the producers of the film) had to agree to appear in the film...if you want a more accurate story, watch 12 YEARS A SLAVE THE DOCUMENTARY (I think its here on youtube)

  • @MrChaotic4
    @MrChaotic4 7 лет назад +1

    If I have any problems with this movie it's that Brad Pitt kind of wasted himself (since he is the lead producer of this film). Anyone could have played his role and it would be the same. But that's neither here nor there and it's more of a nitpick than anything else.

    I think it's highly ironic to see people here moan about how a white skin colored person plays a role in saving a slave. You whom say that are the epiphany of hypocrisy and racist yourselves. We are all equal, just because a squid was born pink doesn't make it not squid. So why do we have to constantly keep dividing ourselves by the complexion of our skin. And to those who say "the white man started it long ago" I say: then why are you here supporting and continuing the very thing you seem to hate so?
    Food for thought people.

    back then way back then there's a semi-british surfer who resembles james dean had he morphed into a lion's faded potato sack. funny how people bagged on The Passion since all it was was beating, and more beating. this movie was the same thing, and zero story, just a concept, and beatings. which is why the guy they set up to win the oscar, named after a better actor than he is a director, lost the oscar even tho they trotted out sidney poitier to make it "historic". that was one of the greatest nights of my life.

      I didn't see it as a ''white saviour'' I saw it as proof that even though there wasnt alot of them, there were white people in that time that had no hatred in their heart towards black people. We can all live together if we make an effort

      +RikXtreme4 Stop talking rubbish. The South wasn't defined by "hatred towards black people". How many of the Southerners do you suppose were actually rich enough to own slaves? Robert E. Lee, a leading figure of the Confederacy, was against slavery.

    • @RikXtreme4
      @RikXtreme4 8 лет назад +1

      Dave Kent I wasnt talking bout the south specifically. i was talking bout whites as a whole. It doesnt matter much if you were for or against slavery. In those days, there was still some type of prejudice in their hearts.
