Hearing RC engage with people where they are at and in a manner of compassion and understanding reveals again why I was so impacted by his audio tapes and his books as a young man. He really mastered how to love God and love people so much, you will do all in your power to convey biblical truth and respect the people he is addressing. The grace and care for others exuded from RC in such a measure that it came through in his writing and the sound of his voice and the passion he put in communicating truth. I miss him so much.

Gerstner said presup was the death of apologetics-I love it! I appreciate the motivation behind presup as we all suppress the knowledge of God. But to think that therefore traditional apologetics has no place, that contending for the evidences that God had placed in the universe to reinforce that conviction is inappropriate-that kind of thinking is truly extreme. So glad to hear Dr. Sproul address this topic.

Sorry but Paul refutes the Calvinist selection heresy when he writes this in 2nd Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, NOT willing that anyone should perish (Go to Hell). But that everyone come to repentance. Will everyone come to repentance? Of course not bc Jesus said the road to hell is more popular & MANY go thereto. But to say God created us without a will to choose is ridiculous! The thief on the cross made a decision to accept God's forgiveness. So it is def a confession, along with repentance that gives one salavation.

Who makes up the "all" in this verse? In verse 1 he's addressing the "beloved." He's writing to believers. God is not willing that any of the elect should perish. This is the problem with single verse theology with no context.

Both the babies I had with my husband were unplanned pregnancies. We didn’t abort and we didn’t give them away. We didn’t put them up for adoption. We raised two children, despite the fact that my husband and I are both blind and I had an undiagnosed mental illness. I think if you have two people with disabilities who are married and you know long for the companionship in there being cuddly and so forth that I need for some people. I did have my tubes tied after the second child. Did you have to think about whether or not you can afford I mean you have to think about whether or not you can afford to keep and raise another child. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to enjoy intimacy with your spouse.

    • @thearamsay9578

George Christopher I disagree with the doctrines of Calvin, not the doctrines of Grace. Nobody should be made to feel unloved by their Creator. Particularly when he himself says of himself that he is not willing for anyone to perish, but for everyone to repent. That is his fathers heart toward all people.
Paul promised there would be wolves entering in, not sparing the flock. Perhaps John Calvin was one of them. Anyone who could believe that someone could be born on love by their maker is saying something about God that isn’t true. John Calvin apparently believes that, and so does his followers. I wants heard RC Sprawle say that the people God did not love enough to provide a way of salvation for them, most of them don’t care anyway. What a callous thing to say. First of all, it’s not true. Secondly, if even one person cares that he or she is not chosen for salvation, that is one too many.
The thing I find most offensive about Calvinism is that if impugns the character of my heavenly father, and I won’t have it. Since you are homeless, you must realize that life is already hard enough, without someone being destroyed by the tenets of Calvinism and thinking that their creator does not care for them.

    2:00 - Once again I’m amazed that we’re not looking to scripture for the clear and concise answer that is there. John 6:44,65 - 2 Thessalonians 2:13 - Jeremiah 31:3 - John 12:32 - Psalms 11:5 - Proverbs 21:2 - Acts 13:48 - 1 Peter 3:12 - 2 Chronicles 16:9 - 1 Samuel 16:7 etc etc etc
God can see peoples hearts. He can see their minds. He can see who wants to get to know him, and who will listen, is ready to obey and make changes to better serve him. He examines them and pays attention and then he DRAWS them. Once they come to him and his son they begin to take in knowledge - John 17:3
Once they take in knowledge of him and his son and what they need to do to further that relationship- James 4:8
So the key ingredient is the proper conditions and God drawing ones and since he is impartial and doesn’t discriminate and desires all to be saved he can then provide any help that we need to continue drawing closer. He blesses effort.

The only place I would disagree with Dr. Sproul is in the area of apologetics. Unlike the times that Calvin, Hodge, and Warfield ministered in, they always dealt with an audience that believed in a transcendent reality. Even pagans believed in a god. The Church has never existed in an era with such a materialistic presupposition from It’s opponents as we do now. Pointing out to the atheist their reliance on a Christian worldview in order to function in the world is the only way to defeat their argument.

Doctrines of grace: code word for Calvinism. Stick to the Scriptures. God is not willing that any should perish, and he does not show partiality he does not think evil into existence. When one is tempted let no man say I am tempted by God for he cannot be tempted and he doesn’t sin. doctrines of grace or TULIP and in one word Calvinism. John Calvin was a man. A human. Someone who could and did get things wrong. Why wouldn’t God be an equal opportunity redeemer, since The Bible says all through the New Testament that Jesus died for the sins of the whole world. I’m not saying that every man will take him up on his beautiful offer of salvation. I merely saying that Calvin and Calvinism are man-made doctrines. Or if you like, doctrines of demons.

Thomas Milavec hi, Thomas. Are you saying that RC misunderstood Calvinism, or possibly I do?
Do you remember Fred Phelps and family? They were hyper Calvinistic, and Mr. Phelps pastored the Westborough Baptist Church. He was very very hyper Calvinistic and Stern. Louis Thoreau interviewed him and his family at one point. Now as I understand it, Megan Phelps has renounced anything to do with Christianity based on the Calvinism she learned from her father. Megan Phelps I believe announced herself as an atheist, and I Believe another daughter also renounced it but I’m not sure what happened to her. I’m afraid that Calvinism seems to appeal to men rather than ladies, and especially its hyper form which seems not only stern but harsh and lacking in mercy.

The only passage close depends upon the version; Revelation 13:8 (NIV)
8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast--all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.
    Revelation 13:8 (KJV)

But the ESV and NASB read different:

As a conditional universalist, I believe Christ died for all; not just the elect (1 John 2:2). However, only those “in Christ” are saved. I don’t think the correct question is; can you lose your salvation? I think the correct question is personal. It should be; am I in Christ? That’s the question each soul searching believer must ask. To walk with ostentatious pride is dangerous. Not to say that my Five point Calvinist brothers are prideful; but an unexamined christian life, can be fodder for false security. Every person has potential for salvation, if they put their absolute trust in the perfect, matchless, saving work of Jesus Christ. It is a workless faith in Him. It is a deeply personal matter; salvation, that is.

I feel terrible, listening to these young people getting blasted by these bloody Calvinist. Who is Calvin, anyway? Did Calvin die for your sins? Did Calvin rise from the dead for you? Calvin is just some guy who got some things wrong. He got it from Augustine and Augustine got it from the pagan religion he was in before he became a Christian.
Calvin was very influenced by Augustine who had been I believe it was called a Manichaean. Anyway this pagan religion he had before Christianity was very fatalistic and deterministic. Calvinism is just theistic determinism. It’s not the gospel preachers. You don’t hear of Calvin or Luther or anybody in the letters of Paul Peter or John. As a matter of fact, the Corinthians got blasted by Paul for splitting Christ up into factions. Because one would say tears right and another would say Apollos I’m for and someone else would say I am for Paul. Paul asked did Paul die for your sins? Did Apollo’s rise from the dead for you? So why are we getting into Luther this and Calvin that. It doesn’t matter. What matters is the Scriptures and what they say. Without tulip all over them.

Frank C of course we are wicked. No problem here. And God does reach out his hands for certain ones Abraham to start a Jewish race from all the families of the earth will be blessed. Jacob Joseph Moses all of those people had their elect purposes for which God chose them. And of course, he holds out his hands to us each and every day.
My problem is with reformed the Ology which states that God chooses to save some and chooses to damn others to hell. Not true. Not biblical. Some people won’t be saved, because they refused. I get that. But the idea that God doesn’t wish to draw certain people to himself is abhorrent to me, and it’s on biblical. The important point is it’s in biblical. God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Jesus said that if he be lifted up, he will draw all men unto himself. I’m talking I guess he was talking about his death on the cross and his resurrection from that death.
Also, when Jesus chastises Jerusalem for unbelief, he blames her for it, not himself. He never says, “I’m sorry. I don’t want you. So you’re not going to be soon.“ He always talks about Jerusalem refusal to believe so as to be saved. In fact, he states that he would like to gather the people together as chicks are gathered under a hen’s wings. Why couldn’t he? He says so. Not you could not, but you would not.

As God knows all things He knows those who want to please Him. And He knows of their desire to please Him before He has created them. Therefore we know that for God to not choose to predestinate those whom He knows want to please Him, would be a very strange choosing indeed. Therefore can we not say that it must be true that God predestinates those ones whom He knows want to please Him.

There are few times which I am unsatisfied with Macarthur or Sproul's answers, but I am inclined in this instance to expand on the answer to the question of God's commandment to all men that they repent:
All men are commanded to repent. Yet, no man can recognize that command unless called by God, for man's natural inclination is to hate God, either by denying His existence, or running away from Him, and consequentially not listening to Him. Jesus Christ said: "He who has ears, listen." - If you hear God, that is to say: If you have been elected by God, and you hear him, know that you are commanded to repent. - The commandment is to all men who have ears, and listen to God; those men who have been elected.

    • @TheBibleSays
      @TheBibleSays 3 года назад +1

      You're correct:
⚫ "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)
The reforrmer's "doctrine of election" apparently says some are pre-determined to be saved, and the rest are pre-determined not to be saved. That, of course, is contradictory to the verse just quoted.
There is a difference between predestination and predetermination . . . people often confuse the two, and assume predestination means predetermination. I think you would agree that God desires "all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" . . . that's the destiny planned, intended, desired for us:
⚫ "Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:4)
And that God is not willing that *_"any"_* should perish, but that all should come to repentance:
⚫ "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that *any* should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)
And that *_"whosoever"_* believes shall be saved from perishing:
⚫ "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that *whosoever* believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
That's the destiny intended for all of us. But we have free will and can refuse His plan. Many choose the wide, easy way that leads to destruction. Sixteenth-century theologians concocted the idea that some are *predetermined* for salvation and the rest are *predetermined* not to be saved. Apparently they never thought to ask why anyone would face judgment if - according to their theology - everything's predetermined anyway. Common sense shows predetermination is bogus doctrine.
Am I saying we mortals do not have eternal security, OSAS, guaranteed saved by virtue of predeternination? Exactly.
Nothing *else* can pluck us out of His hand . . . but we ourselves can turn away from Him and no longer abide in Him. What happens then?
⚫ "If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (Jesus, in John 15:6)
⚫ "If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:" (2 Timothy 2:12)
Unless we abide in Him in repentance, walking "after the spirit" (Romans 8:1) we'll return to condemnation, no longer "in His goodness" or grace . . . and we'll be "cut off":
⚫ "For if God spared not the natural branches [the Israelites], take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off." (Romans 11:21,22)
⚫ "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it." (Hebrews 4:1)
Predetermination is a false theology . . . frankly used as a crutch for the OSAS heresy, and as a way to deny any personal responsibility in the matter of salvation.

Isaiah 53:5, he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed.
For salvation, people just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in the water and of the spirit. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is.
We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD.
We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:8-9, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed. One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritan. Our salvation has to match-up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away.
Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38. The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church.
It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction. Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, They continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. If you believe in this message, help spread it in the name of Jesus Christ. God bless you!

It is sad that you are telling people a lie which is very serious where Christ salvation gospel is concerned. You are spewing a works righteous gospel. If anyone even an angel bring in another gospel, he is accursed Gal 1:8. .
You do not understand scripture. Except a man be born of water( the mothers womb) and the spirit( in Christ).....
If we are saved by our faith in grace alone, why do we need to be dunked in water to be saved? Water baptism is our testimony to others that we have been buried in Christ AFTER the Father has drawn us and given us repentance and the measure of faith! Think about that. I sincerely pray that you repent or you will surely die.

Ephesians 2.8 For by grace ye are saved through faith and not of yourselves it is a gift of God. Faith comes by the hearing of the word of God. The gift of grace and faith is the word of God. God is no respect of person.
