- The invasive species "plecostomus" was introduced by people having them as pets and letting them go in the local water systems. They area bottom feeder and mostly eat seaweed and algae. My buddy brad fishes this clear body of water just about every day and invited me down to do a little fishing and wake-boarding. It has been over a year since I have wake boarded so I knew it was going to be a little interesting. We started the day off catching some nice bass and ended the fishing trip with a few giant plecos. We headed to Austin to jump on the Malibu and do little wake boarding. We then cleaned the plecos which is near impossible and cooked them on the half shell. Watch the rest to see what we thought. Thank you for showing the shots of the lake, I used to ride wakeboards with the Texas State team on Dunlap a few years ago, had a memory pop up on my Facebook of when it flooded and there was an RV floating in the lake. It was a little sad but cool to see what the lake/river looks like now

Gosh dang mullet man.
I made a couple spears just like that but shorter I used a graphite golf club a sling shot rubber band, quick steal a eye bolt and small piece of round bar about 12 inch long I used only the center of a long driver club cut the head off and put the little round bar in it it slides in and fits perfect then quick steeled it in place and squeezing the steel to make a handle then removing the grip and cutting a few inches off of the graphite and quick steeled the eye bolt in and it’s like a 2.5 to 3 feet diving spear Iv shot hundreds of carp and I can’t tell you what else cause it’s illegal but my buddy’s have them to we go float creeks all the time!

Easiest way I have ever seen a Gar cooked, my dad just threw it into the fire, cut the head off, and the rest of the fish just slid out of skin, then he gutted it and fried it up.
