Walk the dawg I call it ..good info , I like to raise my bow and do the 45 degree angles on boat waves and feather as well..see to many boats hitting em out the water trying rush when they only get there 20 seconds earlier to find it for themselves in tourneys !! I am a cruiser man.. if it’s slick calm I’ll go fast and enjoy it but when it’s rough I’m that guy going 20 and my buddy’s are passin my 225 mercury looking at me like I’m the crazy one but safety is first!! Going up wind on ky lake even will teach ya in that current and north south the way it’s set up and shallow . When they let water out , the winds get bad it can be like being on an ocean . Ozarks there gets bad too , it stays fairly choppy too
This is a perfect representation of the South Passage on Lake Erie. Waves going every direction, got to me smarter than the average bear on that stuff. You did well, great video.
Good video and tips. We have a similar set up on Norris lake here. Steep walls and wake boats make for a criss cross wake mess during the summer. I have an older smaller boat. One trick I’ll use is to follow behind a bigger boat if we are headed in same direction. They will break up some of the chop ahead of me.
Hi Austin, i just subscribed to your channel. And by the grace fo God, i made back to shore today without drowning, and we had on our life vest/ i just got my first bass boat and went boating today on Trinity Tx, and other boaters ripped past me at high speeds and my motor was trimmed too low when i slowed down. Now i know what i did wrong, i needed to trim a little higher. i hit a few 2-3 foot swells and my kill switch flipped killing my motor, we almost flipped the fricking boat, luckily i figured out how to reset it quickly, i had my buddy Steve with me and he almost crapped his pants. i trimmed up a little higher for the next few boats and felt a difference. We learned a serous lesson today, and everyone is right bass boats are dangerous. I have a 15/4. with a 90 hp mercury 2 stroke. Today, e learned how to launch the boat, and operate the shifter, etc. Mine is a 1989 Ples Kraft. Its great to have you as our coach, to teach us armatures how to do it right.
I was already scared watching the waves and your boat hit the waves... lmao.. I prayed all the way back to the dock when I hit heavy waves.. never will try it again..great job
Good stuff. I am moving up to the St Lawrence river this summer and it gets crazy rough up there. Gonna take me a while to get used to driving real rough water. I sold my Ranger back in 1987 so it has been a while. There should be m ore of these videos. Thanks
Lucky you. We’ve been to the St. Lawrence 3 times now. Killer fishing! The River can get pretty dang rough, but the lake is serious business. Definitely watch the weather and keep that bow up! Good luck!
I came up behind a wake boat and tried to cross their wake to overtake in my ranger. (20' deep v, not quite like a normal ranger BB, its actually an i/o 395 with 320hp smallblock) Im trying to figure out what i did wrong lol. I was kinda being an ass wanting to overtake them tbh. anyway i crossed their wake at about a 45 degree angle which i have done many times (but still this is probably where i went wrong, i guess i should have taken it more dead on) and there was somehow another wake on the other side of the first one. crossed the first stuffed the left side of the boat underwater on the second wake and my port side windshield got exploded in my passengers face. Neither he or i had seen anything like it. Been running this boat about 8 years now and his experience goes way back. Luckily he had sunglasses on. I guess my ranger isnt as invincible as i thought, and wake boat wakes are no joke.
That doesn’t look fun on a skeeter lol. I just bought my first boat. It’s a 23’er BR. It’s currently sitting down on our slip at the ozarks. First busy weekend with it so we will see how it goes. Great info though!
on toledo bend the boat road is in the middle of the lake. you can’t run it like that from stumps. if the lakes high maybe but it’s not safe. we only have an 18ft. we gotta pick our poison on when we want to leave it don’t take long to pick up and the weather man wrong every time
I’m in a 15 and a half stratos 256v, and went on the water when it was really windy today like an idiot. You could see white in the waves they were so big. That was the sketchiest thing I’ve done in a while
Pro-tip: why don't you buy a boat(Lund?)that's appropriate for the waters you are fishing? If you are afraid and have to adjust your trim to cross another boat's wake then you are in the wrong body of water for your boat . Bass boats are nothing but an overpowered ironing board for the guy that wants to go 75 mph and look cool. I fish Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. We leave the dock in 3 to 4 Footers. We fish in 5 to 6 Footers and sometimes have to return to the dock in 8 to 10 Footers. 2 to 3 Footers are an everyday occurrence. It is rarely calm. I watch all these bass videos and if there's more than a ripple you guys call it rough water lol. I recently watched a video of a bass fisherman running like 70 miles across Lake Erie in 2 ft waves and pounded the piss out of himself and his partner both of them soaking wet. I couldn't help but laugh at the sheer stupidity. If you're going to fish Open Water then buy a man's boat not a puddle jumper.
Lunds are not conducive for fishing around here in tight spaces and fishing docks. Ridden and driven all of them, for up north open water fishing they’re great. I’ve also spent plenty of days on SLR and Lake Ontario with a bass boat and it can get rough in a hurry. The saltwater guys would say the same thing about your boat, and would tell you to get a 40’ freeman. All about deadrise. At the end of the day a bass boat is more comfortable to fish out of for our area, especially LOZ.

Definitely need to be more video's out there like this to teach people that maybe didn't grow up in bass boats
Beaver gets pretty sketchy on a holiday weekend, especially around Prairie Creek area. Good tips, thanks for sharing 🙏🙏
Truman, Lake of the Ozarks, and Table Rock Lake in Missouri are horrible when those big T-storms roll in quick.

Exactly sounds like Lake St Clair or the st Clair river.

My grandpa floored it through the rough waves one day and let me tell you my soul left my body on some of those big waves holding on for dear life
I was already scared watching the waves and your boat hit the waves... lmao.. I prayed all the way back to the dock when I hit heavy waves.. never will try it again..great job
Good video. I have come across wakes on that lake that make nervous on a jet ski

Slow down, trim down, and let the hull do the work. Good advice.
Awesome video man!!

Be safe out there!
How do you handle the waves on most days, I have a 16.5 and am a little worried after watching this
sounds alot like cedar creek lake in texas,, it can turn into a monster.,..
Jackplate up and trim 3/4 down
Quick tip: buy a Phoenix
Were going to need a bigger hat.
Not much and you?
Yeah I’d be the dude that left at 10am I have the ranger rt178 alum bass boat lol
