Weekly Battle Rally Run #4: Fire & Johto Upgrade, 10,100 Points - Pokémon Masters EX

- Ngl, this is probably the most upsetting run I’ve recorded so far. This is undoubtedly one of my best runs (this is actually 100 points under my PB), but man were some of the stages in this run aggravating lol. This was a very mixed bag of a Rally run, but I’m glad I was able to get higher than 9.4K this time. Enjoy!

0:00 Free Upgrade
Fire seems like a good upgrade at first, but I’m missing a lot of staple Fire types which makes it less helpful for me. Plus there aren’t a lot of great Fire tanks, besides Kabu who I am skipping rn, so making teams with this boost is a little more difficult than you’d think.
0:14 Area 1: Support/Field (CS Ice Drasna)
This has two pattern possibilities, and one doesn’t repeat this combo. So, I used SS Morty here just in case. I didn’t want use Emma or Bianca this early, so I decided to have some fun and run offensive Marley since Morty provides Sun. Marley’s TM also counter Drasna’s poison.

I did get the seed that repeated the type combination. Both routes had Tech/Support at the end so I already set in stone that NC Serena was going to be saved for that.
2:29 Area 2: Field/Sprint (CS Poison Wallace)
Unfortunately for me, this type combo appears twice in this pattern. I missed Geeta, so I had off-type this and I decided to use Paulo since I figured I’d pair NC Silver with SS Gladion again. Brought back SS Morty to activate the upgrade, and I used Viola just to make this a little easier.
4:37 Area 3: Sprint/Field (LUCKY AREA)
Of course when I get my first triple 2x boost on a Lucky Stage my recording messes up! Though tbf, gameplay was not much was missed though I did get a LOT of points from this!
4:45 Area 4: Strike/Tech (Summer 2023 BC Anabel)
The first of many annoying BC that plagued this run. I didn’t use limited moves with anyone last round, in case I needed to use one of them for this stage and I am very glad I did so. SS Gladion was a gif help for this stage, and since SS Hilbert was a double boost, he also paired well with Metal Sound’s debuffs. Lodge Irida activated the upgrade and provided flinches and burn to counter Healthy Advantage.
6:28 Area 5: Tech/Support (Kanto CS Water Bruno)
The fact that this is Water weak is so mean lol. I felt SS Steven would be better here than to clog a team slot for Area 10, so I decided to use him here. I also kept SS Hilbert since he was available and he paired well with NC Calem. This meant I didn’t have anyone to activate the upgrade, but Steven’s flinches and Hilbert’s damage was enough to pull the team through!
8:38 Area 6: Support/Field (CS Dark Phoebe)
This stage has Sentry Entry x2, meaning Bianca and Emma were out of the question. SS Serena was all that was left, so I used her. Evelyn provided the Fire upgrade and boosted Serena’s master passive.
11:45 Area 7: Field/Sprint (Iono Daily Stage)
I very much regret using Viola early as I did now. I got Iono’s BC for Very Hard it genuinely might’ve been impossible without losing a TON of points. It has Sentry Entry x2, which took NC Nate off the table. I swapped Volo for SSA Cynthia, and eventually gave up and tried to use Tina as support, but I couldn’t do it. I didn’t want to use Rosa either in case I needed her for Area 10.
I knew I was gonna lose points by either going to Hard, or purchasing another Fire upgrade and using Tina. I chose the former since I genuinely think it costed less points than the latter option.
13:42 Area 8: Sprint/Strike (Palentines 2023 BC Victor)
While it’s late into the run, I figured this was a good pickup since the shop was offering garbage the last few rounds. Plus, it was useful if I got something like Anabel or Palmer.
While at first I was upset I got this stage again, at least this time I was able to counter Wise Entry x2 without losing any points. Lodge Skyla’s my best physical Flying type, so I used her here. Hilda activated the bonus and proved Potions in case they were needed. Shoutout to that Head Charge at the end clutching up the clear.
16:13 Area 9: Strike/Tech (Kanto CS Dragon Lance)
FINALLY! AN UPGRADE I CAN USE IN THE LAST STAGE IF GET ANABEL! Fire was a no-go if I got a really difficult final stage, so this upgraded was exactly what I needed (plus it guaranteed using SS Kris in the last round). I also picked up another Sync Move buff since it’s cheap.
The Johto upgrade also came into good use here, since Eusine was a double boost and I could ignore the Fire upgrade for this round. Bunny May is my secondary for Hugh if I used him already, so used her here. Lucian sync nuke my beloved.
18:33 Area 10: Tech/Support (Darach UB)
All that worrying over Anabel or Palmer just to get Darach lol. Not complaining, but it just felt underwhelming after the demons I had to fight through to get here. SS Kris counters Darach, so the Johto upgrade was a good choice! I initially wanted to use SS Diantha for On-Type, but I switched to Anni. N instead, to activate both of the upgrades.

Tbh I forgot you have an invested SS Hilbert. But after looking up your showcases of him, now I have more references for his eventual grids so thanks. Pitied mine last month (and missed SC Selene because of this though at least I also got SS Hau) and I already have the 2 green candies and strike cake for him, but I run out of orbs because of an NC Bianca energy increase (thanks for the grid ideas btw) so he'll have to wait as I grind more of these. Thankfully there're no major bug weak content to worry for now. Though if a harder CS rotation comes next month I'll have to rush that investment ASAP. Pulled for him primarily because how rough newer bug stages have been lately, even with Holiday Viola giving the zone.
Glad to see that I helped you and congrats on Hilbert. He’s definitely worth investing imo.
Amazing run, lately the battle rally lost its charm to me i've been doing it at like almost the end of the time limit for the reward, i feel like the battle style is not very enticing.
