Tula Pink! You are such a jewel! Love your talent and sense of humor! Thank you so much for your inspiration. This is fabric line is wonderful! Gotta get some "Homemade"!
What a pleasure to hear about Tula Pink's fabric design process for this collection. Every step made so much sense, and the progression through the process of quilt making was full of the joy of our craft. Thank you Tula.
I just wanted to thank you for mentioning the fact that we don’t sew in silence. I wish you could have added the iPad and Netflix. I love your new line. Can’t wait to use it. I think I’ll make a sewing machine cover. How fun. By the way when my sister got married 40 years ago I made my own dress which was a beautiful vogue Dior pattern. Latter my Aunt Joni jokingly said “and there Jerana stood in her home made dress!!!
I also have the experience of having someone liking a bag and I have had to make something similar for that person. I have had great experience with all the quilts I have made for family and friends. I love your fabric and hopefully will be able to get some of it when I get to Houston at the end of October. If you are there.
My mother sewed almost everything I wore. She designed and sewed my wedding dress and all my bridesmaid dresses. I'm happy to see homemade is making a comeback. Beautiful fabrics, Tula.
Home made had a stigma because it was much cheaper than "ready made." My grandmother never bought a piece of fabric the first 60 years of her life and she made all her kids clothes. She used flour sacks to make under clothes and feed sacks for outer clothing. The scraps from that made the quilts. Her batting was raw cotton. It had to be densely quilted. Now, fabric has become a bit pricey. Most folks only display the quilts we made with coordinating fabric, not the one we made with the no longer worn clothes. Lots of hand crafters have become a bit judgemental and I know quilters guilds that only accept the most accomplished quilters. I am seeing more and more online quilters telling people not to fret too long over less than perfect, or the ones that remind you no one is going to see the back of your quilt after it is made. This is a good thing. Your fabric line is beautiful.
Great line Tula! Love the way u have brought our present day Quilters’ tools into the 21st century!!! You r totally right - people used to frown on homemade clothes - glad to see things have changed for the better over the years!
Love all of this fabric. Going to school (in the 60’s), I made all of my cloths and proud of it. Can’t wait to get my hands on this line. Oh, I sew/quilt in silence lol. I get distracted easily.🧵🧵🇨🇦
