Dawntrail is my favorite expansion because the game became so bad I actually started to socialize with my real friends more and broke my addiction. Thanks Squeenix!
For me personally, and despite it's ups and downs quality wise, I did just really enjoy the Dawntrail launch. If if not all of the content is top tier there's still something special about getting new story and new world to explore. I do agree that as someone who isn't a hardcore content enjoyer and who didn't play FFXI (thus having no emotional connection to it), 7.1 has felt pretty dry other than the very, very good MSQ update. As for (very?) near future updates I'm looking forward to, it has to be the Role Quest wrap up. This time around I generally enjoyed the role quests and I'm curious to see how they tie them all together, especially if wet get a special instance like we did last time.
The role quests were very fun. I enjoyed the whole silliness of them, especially after how heavy they were in Endwalker. And 7.1 was a pretty good story, especially the dungeon, I loved the dungeon!
After seeing what they did with the chaotic raid I am sort of at a crossroads. The developers aren’t making content for me. I love the game but find myself with nothing to do. I had hoped chaotic raids would be “endurance fights”’fun crazy fights that you can keep punching so long as the rezzes flow. But it is rife with body-checks where one body missing can kill everyone and has an enrage which means you are doomed early on for a lot of deaths. It is anything but chaotic fun. It is yet another high-end hyper-manicured, perfect performance or bust fight. This is why Criterion failed and they just did it again. Clearly the team is struggling to understand how to create fun casual content and their refusal to invest in scalable difficulties for all content means that though they release a lot of content, it is all sectioned off and it doesn’t feel like a lot for most people. Certainly not to me. I have spent the last month trying other games and playing less and less FFXIV. At this point the $15 sub is just out of hope it gets better, not because it is offering something I want to spend time doing. I honestly believe the team is trying its best but clearly something is getting lost in translation.
Yeah the chaotic raid feels off for what they wanted to do. They need to balance their casual/hardcore content better. I wish they had released the first part of the legendary weapons, the new eureka/bozja content or the new lifestyle content with patch 7.1. It would have given more balance to the game, instead of leaning so heavily on the raiding.
I didn't participate in everything, in part because of not having a computer to play on until February and not knowing I could buy the game on PlayStation and pick up where I left off and then not always having the time or desire, but I did start Heavensward with my main character, Dunstan Wulfe, transferred worlds, started a new character, a Viera named Vrus Hoftir and her main class is going to be Scholar when I have the MSQ far enough along, and joined free companies with Dunstan and Vrus. Vrus is supposed to be pronounced like Bruce, but with a V. Oh, and when I hit level 30 with her, the game gave me a New World bonus and spotted me 1 million gil and 15 free days of game time.
I hope you have a lot of fun going through the story with your characters. Next year should hopefully be full of exciting content so it will be very fun for you hopefully.
I love the idea of looking back at all the things we did!! Nice video!
Thank you, I always like looking back around new year so figured it would be fun for the game as well.

That is positive way to look at it. Better life balance is always a plus. I personally have played a lot of other games which has been furn.
