I love your videos! They are very easy to understand. I am learning so much from them. Thank you!! 😊
Can you make a video on how to draw from imagination? I'm trying to learn how to draw what's in my head but I can't seem to bring it out.

    • @stephentraversart

We can't take out of our imagination what we haven't put into it. This is an indication that you need to do more real world observation of what you want to draw under a large range of circumstances. And drawing from photos will also help you cement these details into your mind. All the best with it.

That's an amazing hack, Stephen, thank you! I'm realizing that I already kinda used this not too long ago - I took a photo of a wip in the linework stage and digitally experimented with the colors so that I have a visually pleasing color palette + the values are clear. Then I found out that it's not as simple as my water based markers don't exactly have the same colors/values as Photoshop haha, so I learned my lesson and tested this out in a sketchbook with the markers I was planning to use. To my demise, I of course tested them out on a different sketchbook than where I drew the real thing, where the paper had different properties and thus different color values, so I learned another lesson and now I'm always trying to test things out as close to the real thing as possible. For details/texture/drawing practice, the printer will be especially helpful, cheers!

Now forgive me if I missed a video but it would be really cool if you could do a video on different techniques of your cross hatching in different marks on the paper on simple subjects I know you have a rose and that one was really good but go in depth at what you're thinking when you're in that moment like if you're on a pillar in the shadow on a pillar. Maybe even something as simple as like a ball and where the Shadows hitting how you go about that! Hopefully you understand what I'm saying I'm not the most elegant speaker lol thank you so much for doing all these videos and taking your time to share your knowledge have a good day😊

No, I’ve had an operation that came up rather quickly. I did post it on my Comnunity Page, but you must have missed it. Still recuperating Stevie, so a chance to catch the ones you’ve missed. 😀

😅 I'm relieved to hear that everything is under control, even though in a sense it's none of a fan's business what's going on in your life outside of your social media art endeavors... I must not know how to access the community page if that's a different 'place' than the regular RUclips channel and postings (likewise, I don't use Instagram, etc.), so I apologize for failing to note your explanation (which, again, none of your followers had any right to expect, but which was thoughtful of you to share). I will find some productive way to feed my art obsession until you are up and running again. I hope your recuperation is uncomplicated, swift, and complete! Take the best of care until then!

Hii stephen , I hope you are well now and wishing you the best health .
I am shilpi . Since very long time I want to learn drawing but whenever i tried i failed to do so and i quitted.
But this time again I want to draw .
Would you please tell me how can i make the things accurately on paper whom i do see in my surroundings .
Please suggest some playlist from where I can learn the strategy to train my brain to look with the perspective of the person who draw .

    • @stephentraversart

My playlist on tips for the self taught artist is probably the best I have for this Shilipi. Start small and simple and stay there until you start to be happy with your drawings. Then slowly choose harder subjects. All the best with it. 😀

Hi Stephen and greetings from Switzerland!
    I have a question, I hope you don't mind.
How would you go about drawing a bright, fine element in front of a darker one?
An example would be drawing a sun lit tuft of fine grass in front of a black wall.
Everytime I hatch the black wall behind it, the tuft in front ends up messy and it doesn't look good at all.

    • @stephentraversart
      @stephentraversart  Месяц назад

I’m afraid this is too vague to really answer. I suggest you scroll through my content thumbnail until you find a drawing that has a similar element. That video should have a demo and voiceover of the process 😀
