I would call the cover The Warning did, after they already did a cover true to the original song 7 years ago, a deconstruction of the original song, they go building the song adding elements and parts from the original mixing the elements in their own way, reconstructing it in a very particular and unique way, their way. And yes, making it theirs! Now, there’s also another reason for that progression, bo build up the song: to incorporate Alessia Cara going from a more pop sound to actually become a The Warning sound style. About the guitar solo: it’s well known Dany can do it easily, she did since she was 14, so it would be redundant, they would be repeating themselves doing a solo, besides the fact that guitar solos are now something out of fashion, something many bands don’t do it anymore. And The Warning do, but in this case, since they’ve done it, why to repeat it when they were supposed to create a completely different version of this song? 😁 Now, about the arrangement, yes, there’s some additional credit for that, as part of the team that most be behind the whole production, BUT yes, also The Warning is already well known for being completely committed to their sound, the way their music must be (The producer of their upcoming album already said that, that being somebody with a long trajectory and working with so many bands, yes, the girls from The Warning take advised, BUT NOTHING that could not be something that could take them away from how they want to sound, so yes, there most be elements brought by the other credits for this song, but I bet it’s at least 85% their arrangements and ideas!

A very interesting breakdown which I totally enjoyed. They did a great job with this considering from getting the call to do this and finishing the recording was around a week. Paulina is often the initial creative force when they write songs but all 3 get involved in the writing and arranging. In this case I think the producer Matt Squire was also part of the creative process. The final mixing was done by David Bendeth who produced the tracks on the new album. I am not sure how much Alessia was involved in the creative process but I expect had some input as a grammy winning singer and song writer. She recorded her parts in Canada linked to Matt Squire's computer at the recording studio in Monterrey where the Warning recorded their parts. She also filmed her parts for the video in Canada. The video was directed, as was Evolve,by their manager Rudy Joffroy who is also a film producer and director. It was edited by Gabo Ramos who directed the Choke video.
This is the only reaction I've watched for a third time. I just love it! 🙌🏼 The Warning girls should see this, I'm sure this would bring more than just a smile on their faces.
I did my own reaction to this and still...yours is my favorite reaction. I loved the time you took with it and gave it it's due reverence for being an incredibly intelligent and unique cover. Great job as always.
Great reaction. Whenever other reactors get long winded I usually turn it off, but your comments were very interesting, aided, of course, by the fact that the music itself is so compelling. Not sure how The Warning do it, but somehow they grab me by the shirt collar and drag me through a song.
Not just another cover. This is part of the Metallica Blacklist album project. Alessia Cara is a Canadian grammy award winning pop singer. She was asked to do a cover. Her management team also manages The Warning. They recommended a collaboration to her and Metallica. They collaborated remotely. Metallica asked them not to do another cover. Do something different, do it backwards if you want. Shot in an abandoned textile mill outside Monterrey, Mexico. They arranged the song, recorded it and the video all in a week.
I was wondering how the Cara / The Warning colab came about as it didn't seem like there were any intersecting lines between Alesia and the three sisters. a Canadian pop singer and a Mexican Sister Trio... but it worked out great and the vocal contrasts are very nice together. Travel restrictions during Covid prevented the in-person appearance of Alesia in the video. I've seen Alesia sing at the Junos (Canadian version of the Grammys) and she is very tallented - sometimes I think she is a little under-rated in her career - she should do more Metal!!
@@SergioSBloch Probably for the better. I like how they're not together but "they're together" in the video, and projecting her gives her kind of an otherworldly elverish presence. I don't know if that makes any sense to anyone but me. But I like the visual better than I think I would have if she had actually been there in person with them.
This was probably one of the best reactions I've seen toward any rock song. I learned a ridiculous amount of stuff in a very short period of time. And the fact that you came into this with a chip on your shoulder...and they blew it off... makes it that much sweeter.
Holy crap! I didn't think about that! Basically they did the song backwards. They started with the outros, and the traditional power chord intro is at the end. I've listened to this a dozen times and I didn't get it. You really are smart. Make a note so the next time you do one of those things nobody ever seems to let you forget, you can say "But on that Warning song..." Lol. Seriously brilliant call man!
Also I've seen half a dozen reactions to it and nobody got that. You're not just a reacter that jokes and makes weird pop culture references (ok you do that very well). Quit underestimating yourself!
@@fredbarnes2049 Yeah, there's a guy that's made the comment on several of these reactions that they swapped the intro and outro but none of the other _reactors_ made that connection.
The really funny thing about it is somebody said in the comments of one of the reactions that Metallica told the artists to pick a song, do it any way you want. Play it backwards if you want to...lol
You are one of the few who not only react, but also give an easy-to-understand analysis for those of us who are not musicians (and even for musicians this should be useful) and I want to thank you for what you have done here, which I think should be "school material” for many. Thank you for your honesty and your time, I appreciate it very much.
Yeah, i lived that life of the last 30 years hearing this song. I can do without listening to it for another 30 years. The Warning and Alessia Cara did a a wonderful job on this version of the song and you broke it down well. It was like Enter Sandman for Dummies.
I enjoyed every minute off this reaction. Well, The Warning and Alessia Cara deserve definitely deserve this. After finally going through the whole Metallice Blacklist this is in my top 3 performances on the album.
First, "...bar graph..." lordy almost choked on my lunch laughing :) Great breakdown of this song - THIS IS HOW YOU DO A REACTION! All caps because emphasis earned; I learned something from you, it wasn't just "ooo, nice". Thank you!
Fantastic reaction/review/analysis/observation/breakdown OldSkuleNerd. I love The Warning's revamped arrangement of this timeless classic. Dany said on her Instagram that they arranged, recorded the music, and shot the video to this all in one week. 🤔 Thank you for supporting TW! 🔥🤘🤓👍💯👏👏
Great breakdown. With everything I've seen so far of their new stuff, I feel bad for all those bands that have to close for them when they hit the road.
I think, so far, it's the best reaction I've ever seen. Thank you for appreciating the arrangement and the work done. Metallica asked that it not be a copy, they have applied it and they have achieved it. This has been, and is, a new way to reinvent metallica's timeless music in the purest The Warning style. The work they've done is 10/10. Again, thank you.
Thanks for your reaction. It was fulfilling. I’m not someone who understands music, but I know what I like. You make me understand why I love it. Very informative. 👍🏼
So it’s a cover that’s not a cover but a reimagining. Love this. Paulina might be the smallest sister but definitely would not like to be the drum kit, really gives it a workout. Love her drumming. ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺
Very nice review! I love how you point out the typical Warning sound, and this is 100% correct: drums and bass belong to the melodic experience here! Did you listen to Evolve, the newest single? Same there, the drums are equally important for the song than the melody, the vocals or the leadguitar! They are a real trio, not just a rhythm section with a guitar… Metallica wanted new versions, that’s why they contacted Alessia, not Anthrax or Slayer… and they delivered something new! Great song, great reaction, greetings from Germany 👍⚡️🤘
Wow! What a nice and detailed review! I'm a 55 year old guy from Mexico who discovered The Warning only 2 months ago and I'm now totally hooked to this band since then. The Warning is now among my favorite bands of all time, like Pink Floyd, Rush, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, etc. etc. which is taking me by surprise as I never thought about a new band ever topping these legendary bands, but the Warning is seriously taking that direction and I'm enjoying it like a kid!, so thank you veeery much for bringing light and clarity in understanding The Warning better!
Great analysis and breakdown. There is one thing that I've not seen any reactor comment on, that I think deserves notice. During the reprisal section there are actually two separate two-part harmonies running simultaneously. Ale and Pau on the operatic backing vocals, and Dany and Alessta on the verse. It's subtle, but it really sets that part off.
From "going in this reaction with at cinical state of mind" to make a video surpassing 35 minutes long, yes, this "cover" it´s that good. Good reaction and very good info you gave us.
I just scribed, and enjoyed your honest opinion. Me, as a fan of The Warning, for over 5 YEARS, now.. I learned a lot from you tonight. Keep Rocking!! Larga Viva The Warning!!!
I really love this cover because they have managed to make sort of a new song and this new song was great without any "damage" to the original. And the fact that they have put that iconic Enter Sandman heavy riff in the very end is also a great creative approach. Because it assures us - yes - we did THIS song and we CAN play this riff, but we wanted to do something unusual. And we do LOVE the original riff but if we were replicating it through the whole composition it might have make you bored... I love this clip and I like the melodies they assembled within.
Fantastic reaction OSN. Very informative commentary that a non musician as myself wouldn’t be able to dissect or pick up for that matter. All I know is my ears really enjoys hearing this rendition of the song. The Warning and Alessia did a wonderful job. 🤘😎🤘🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well done. You stated your case and explained why. For those dismissing this, I hope they can listen again and consider the directions from Metallica. If they don’t agree with the premise from Metallica themselves for this album, then this will not be for them. 🔥🔥🔥
Liked the reaction. They got the attention they deserved. And speaking of production, Dany, on an Instagram chat, told us that the time taken from receiving the invitation from Metallica to arranging, recording, and shooting the video was one week! One friggin week. They’ve got a heck of a team behind them, and their dedication, craft, and musicianship are superb. If I’m not mistaken, David Bendeth was also involved somehow.
To be completely honest, the invitation from Metallica went to Alessia. Her international manager was the one who recommended she invite The Warning since he also works with them. Of course they also had to get the green light from Metallica.
Noting that they started where Metallica left off is a fucking BRILLIANT observation and a point that I missed hearing this song a few times. Bravo Sir, Bravo. Also, since I last texted you, me, my wife, and all my daughters are fully recovered from COVID. My son never got it, the lucky little shit. 🙂
Yeah, you're right, and for me the most amazing thing, this is one week work result, I mean, the Warning are an amazing talented girls also the same the collaboration of Alessia cara, by the way, great reaction as always

By far the best and most detailed review I've seen on this song so far. And there were quite a few... Hats off and respect for picking out so many details on the fly and also explaining them in an understandable way. My brain would never be able to process so much information at once. So thank you very much for this video and all your thoughts on it. I will probably listen to the song a bit differently from here on. :) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 「 'Our rock never dies ever. I think Lars emailed the sisters and told them for the Blacklist album that he didn’t care how they did it they could do it side ways or on their head. I’m just paraphrasing.
Dude. I love the way you broke this down and explained everything. I loved their rendition and I do have it on my playlist along with everything else. They are such an amazing trio. So good. All 3 are savages in their own way.
Thank you, what a fascinating analysis of this magnificent reimagening of this song! The Warning are fearless! It may have already been mentioned but they did this arrangement and recorded it in only one week! And David Bendeth mixed it. The video is also homemade in Monterrey.
A great, great analisys "on-the-go", you added a lot of very interesting details to the reaction. I enjoyed top to bottom both the song and your breakdown of it. It is indeed kind of an "Enter Sandman 2.0", full re-built.
Great reaction. I don't care how long the video is. I know if it's a long one, you got inspired and are dropping some knowledge, so that is always fun. As far as power trios go, I think the best comparison for the Warning, is Triumph.
Nice review. I am glad you enjoyed it. I get your point about hearing Enter Sandman for more than 30 years. How do you think we even older guys feel about hearing Sabbath's Paranoid album or Deep Purple's Machine Head for nearly 50 years? We get it. Hearing Iron Man or Highway Star for so long makes me quick to reach for that radio dial (if I listened to the radio anymore).
I really appreciate Alessia’s more angelic thinner voice on this version. So beautiful and contrasts well with Dany’s more harder voice The question was asked to Alessia Cara if she wanted to contribute on the album and she is on the same agency as TW and someone suggested to Alessia Cara a cooperation with TW. The rest is history as they say. From Metallica’s point of view in an interview with Rolling Stone “We said, ‘Pick a song. Do what you want with it. If you want to play it backwards or turn it on its head, we respect and appreciate it.’ ” -Lars Ulrich
For me, as a non-musician, your reactions are gold. Because when i hear songs from The Warning i know there is something special that catches me every time. Watching your reactions is telling me why. And i really enjoy that. It also tells me i'm not stupid when i think i've heard something special in music. Btw. you're absolutely right about Ale. Every new video they drop Ale becomes more and more mature. Not only her rising up like a tower, watch her face, it lost this typical girlie look. I'm not even a father but looking at them gives me these "they become beautiful young ladies, i've to protect them from the boys" feeling. If you know what i mean...

Great reaction! I totally love this arrangement too! It's great to watch a reaction a technical view. Only a few reactors do that. If people are disappointed in them not doing an exact cover, they could always go and look at the cover done 7 yrs ago lol. But they definitely made it their own this time!
Great review & reaction. Love the breakdown on this one. 💪 OSN, look at all these comments here. That's amazing, and screams your doing something right! 🤘🎼🤘
Thank you. There are many reactions to this version of the song, many very shallow in not recognizing the immense talent and creativity involved in this re-interpretation. Your reaction is absolutely the best: you broke it down in terms of the rearrangement, music theory, and the impressive construction of, for all intents and purposes, a new song with a respectful and classy homage to the original. I hope many others realize that you understand music are a true musician. This cannot be said of many of the others who ply the youtube reaction gig.
Excellent breakdown, especially the insight into where the original left off and how The Warning picked it from there and breathed new life into it. About saving that iconic riff for the “end”…it just makes me want it to keep going and see what comes after in a live performance.
Hello Mr Old School Nerd, I am also an old school nerd, in fact Metallica are quite a new band to me! I grew up on Purple, Zeppelin, Sabbath, etc but I do love The Warning. They do a fantastic job on this piece, a very cool interpretation. I liked your reaction, better than the rest I have seen so far as I really enjoyed your analysis and appreciation of what they have done here.

Just witnessed a 36 minutes solid, interesting and amazing análisis of this exelent piece. Thanks
I think there was one. (and one who still might :D) but it is rare for sure.
Oh, and I watched many more reactions so...
I am so glad I randomly clicked on your reaction. I loved it! Thank you :D
Thank you for supporting TW!
🔥🤘🤓👍💯👏👏
Brilliant reaction, my friend! I was waiting for this a lot. U never disappoint,. Ur a teacher!
Great breakdown. With everything I've seen so far of their new stuff, I feel bad for all those bands that have to close for them when they hit the road.
As David Heretic puts it, the Kiss effect...nobody wanted Kiss to open for them because they'd run them off the stage.
This is a very interesting cover that a whole essay could be written about it.
I absolutely love how they used the most iconic part of the original as an outro
Now that is a reaction! Thanks for helping me see this great song in a new way.
Your reaction was nearly as brilliant as their reimagination of Enter Sandman.
Oh wow. And yes! Damn missed that too. Good ear man!
From "going in this reaction with at cinical state of mind" to make a video surpassing 35 minutes long, yes, this "cover" it´s that good. Good reaction and very good info you gave us.
The best reaction I've seen. The breakdown was EVERYTHING! You picked up so much and explained everything so well.
Marvel has a new video game come out next year called "Midnight Suns" and in the Trailer to the Game they use this Song
Great reaction and explanation. It certainly increases one's appreciation for the talent.
Best reaction yet! Thanks for the education.
I just scribed, and enjoyed your honest opinion. Me, as a fan of The Warning, for over 5 YEARS, now.. I learned a lot from you tonight. Keep Rocking!! Larga Viva The Warning!!!
I usually watch reactions just once but yours definitely needed a second round and maybe a third. Great job!
Thank you, sir. Great reaction, great version, great video. The Warning has touch of Midas. And Dany’s charisma is something I have not seen ever before in rock world. Pure magic. Viva The Warning 🤘🙏🏻❤️🇫🇮
They did the arrangement in 1 week and then recorded it the following week. Alessia and The Warning were in different studio.

「 'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!' 」- from BAND-MAID 'Manners' 🕊️
Everything The Warning does is pure gold! These young Ladies are destined for greatness!
They did this in one week. Good job girls.
A great, great analisys "on-the-go", you added a lot of very interesting details to the reaction. I enjoyed top to bottom both the song and your breakdown of it. It is indeed kind of an "Enter Sandman 2.0", full re-built.
Thats what were talking about.........Nice reaction, Old School !! Its so good, I'll probably watch again😎👌
Ok NeVeR thought Enter Sandman would give me chills. Somehow they did it with that 3 round reprisal. Like full body, 30sec goosebumps. Bravo 👏 👏
So beautiful and contrasts well with Dany’s more harder voice
The question was asked to Alessia Cara if she wanted to contribute on the album and she is on the same agency as TW and someone suggested to Alessia Cara a cooperation with TW. The rest is history as they say. From Metallica’s point of view in an interview with Rolling Stone
“We said, ‘Pick a song. Do what you want with it. If you want to play it backwards or turn it on its head, we respect and appreciate it.’ ” -Lars Ulrich
Wow... Lars actually backed down the control freak....
Thank you. I didn't know who said it, but somebody repeated it someplace else. And I still didn't get it, sighs
thanks for a great reaction... professional and entertaining. Learned a lot listening to your explanations. Again, thank you!
This is not a cover.
It's a remake. 😉😊
did you even watch my reaction?
@@OldSkuleNerd I did. Finished just now. Glad we agree! 😅
And just for the record, I didn't mean it as criticism for you or anything. 😊
Great reaction! Best one to that song so far imo. 😊
Dude you know Music. Kind of into yourself and I love it. Keeping it 100% real and The Warning are going to be one of The Greatest Rock Bands of all time, My take as a 63 year old rocker!
Over 30 originals and every song if fantastic. Don’t believe me check out Dull Knives 🔪 🔪 and a bunch of others. Shattered Heart at The Whiskey where I was there on 2020.
EPIC song that ends in a supernova!!
Very cool arrangements. They did a superb job!
They are getting better and better
Viva The Warning!! ⚡⚡⚡
Great reaction and breakdown. This reinterpretation of an iconic song was haunting, surreal, and eerie to say the least. Pau saying the prayer kinda creeped me out. They did to this song what Disturbed did to The Sound of Silence; they made it their own.
Great reaction! I totally love this arrangement too! It's great to watch a reaction a technical view. Only a few reactors do that. If people are disappointed in them not doing an exact cover, they could always go and look at the cover done 7 yrs ago lol. But they definitely made it their own this time!
Best cover off Enter Sandman ever done !!
Awesome reaction, you are a CRACK! Regards from Mexico.
HEY I NEED ALL THE LOVE FROM MEXICO I CAN GET!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH
Great review & reaction. Love the breakdown on this one. 💪
OSN, look at all these comments here. That's amazing, and screams your doing something right! 🤘🎼🤘
Pure Fire, thanks for reacting and your commentary! 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
35:35 “This was that”, I almost wanted to cry. After I smiled enjoying from minute one listening to a teacher, an enthusiastic music nerd and all stops in between. No need to ask me to subscribe that’s a given, 100% Real. Loved it❤️. Thought I knew TW, now I know what I didn’t know I didn’t know. And that’s the ultimate complement IMO when someone willingly shares knowledge. BRAVO Sr. Viva The Warning 🇲🇽
Great reaction. Thank you. As an FYI in case you don't know they write all their own songs. No one else interferes with what they write.
Love, love, love your thoughtful analysis. This is probably the most interesting and entertaining reaction I have listened to for this reimagining of Enter Sandman.
this reaction was amazing ! thank you so much
Metallica is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Black Album so they Asked 53 artists to do covers of the 12 songs of the Album and they put all those covers in 7 LP's or 4 CD's and all Profits are going to Charity the Album is called The Blacklist Look it Up
It was as superb reaction and breakdown of the song , thank you sir.
Great reaction! Best rendition of this song hands down! The Warning has emerged as the best up and coming Rock Band in decades! Much love for Dany, Pau, and Ale! ❤️
Great reaction and great analysis! I learn so much while I see your video reaction as well as I enjoy you talking about your kids and your personal experiences and preferences.
And truly I also feel like hearing more from them right now!!!
I was born in 1967 in a country not far from where I assumed you are, a country that was already going into darkness and its leader in that year almost send the world into oblivion. A place where rock was dealings of collaborators and traitors and therefore I thought of me and very few not totally brainwashed sort of bad apple. Rock helped me then and still does it now. I discovered TW and came to your channel subscribed and since them I am just learning here. This I new was a multilevel story but you again put explanation the musical history of it the context and now I am smiling: here is you Sir explaining to this old dude this is why you are so fascinated with the music of this band! Thank you!!!
Tierra de The Warning.
Great reaction and analysis. Thumbs up!
Great reaction bro. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole video. Alessia did a great job on the vocals and thanks to Alessia that the girls got this great opp. However when Dany took over the vocals I literally got goosebumps. She is a different kind of beast and Dany doesn’t need a solo to show off. She has such a powerful voice. Dany is the best front woman ever in my opinion. You are right, it’s a rendition/reimagination 🤟
Great breakdown and analysis! 👍😎
This is a awesome interpretation of this song 🎵
