Eggplants, Gari, beans, rice, tomatoes with onions - It will be a tomato soup featuring eggplants with sides of rice and gari. No meat but delicious and easy to add some eggs or fish. She bought wele (skin) for the soup, but still that's not meat.
This is beautiful. To see people moving around with a purpose is refreshing. no one walking looking down at their phone. you can actually count them in the video. This is community, people helping people. lady with rice was like " here take more" lady with the Gari gave extra. most people didn't notice everyone that sold something that wasn't prepacked made sure you got a little more. Thank you for sharing this peaceful walk in the market, I really enjoyed it.
I am an obroni who went to Ghana for a month in 2018 and I was floored by the markets and the food there. It was my first trip out of the USA and I learned so much. I stayed for a month. I didn't want to come back to the rat race. This video should read, feed 2 adults for 2 days with $10.
I’m an American. if I was there, I would hire you to shop for me because we all know once they see me as an American they gonna jack up the price so what you get for it will be way different than what I can get for it 😮😮😮
So? Your precious government do that to you with your gas and food already. When they jack the price up, it'll still be cheaper than what your own people are doing to you
if only $10 could stretch like this worldwide. you m’ve gotten so much homegrown produce for a way better bargain. win win, not only most veggies came straight from farmer to market, but the price was also great.
That’s a really exciting market area! I’ve no idea what half of it is, but I would definitely try it all. They’re generous too when measuring out, and always adding an extra handful 😊
It's sad that people don't greet you but I heard you say please and thank you. It was very nice when you gave the crippled man some money! 🤗 I did enjoy the trip.
I've been to Accra, Kumasi - other cities in Ghana and several other West African cities and countries. I'll be returning as a retiree to live the life of a king, among my people who are warm and welcoming. Regardless of any infrastructure discrepancies, or any other shortcomings: Africa is HOME and there's NO PLACE like HOME!
Yes I agree totally, I've met a beautiful woman online from Ahenkro, she's perfect in every sense, works 12 hour days 5 days a week stock taking in a corn factory for £100 a month, lives with her grandma, goes to church for 4 hours every Sunday morning, very humble, sometimes I feel ashamed coming from Scotland, the things we take for granted, and still moan, yet Ghanaian people don't have much, but they make up for that in being happy and kind, so I'm going to eventually move there too. Cheers.
A wrap up of what you purchased would have been great to see. I would definitely hire you to shop for me, the crowd was a bit much. Great to see how its done in different countries, thanks!❤❤

people live so well here, and there's adverts thrown in our face every day in the UK about starving kids in ghana, starving kids in Nigeria, just showing us what they want us to see that Africa is really suffering. But what they don't show us is how far just a dollar can stretch in a local market, 10 dollars you can feed half of America with that.

Yea, but at least in the U.S. we don't have to roam dirty streets to do our food shopping. There are reasons why its expensive comparatively. Update: ppl commenting that I'm wrong on this obviously have never studied economics.
Don't be a Tucker Carlson. The wages here are a lot higher and if you really think about, here in the US, we're probably paying less for our groceries based on the wage earnings. Knowledge is power.
I’m watching this from North Carolina USA and all I see are smart people who are out in the heat and pouring rain taking care of business. We as Americans are lazy because we would find any excuse not to go to work in the rain 😢 BRAVO 🙌 👌
We didn't get to be the best country in the world by being lazy. We've built hospitals, schools, factory, supermarkets, housing, churches, department stores, farms not because we are lazy but because we work hard for every thing this country has. We'd be living in that filth if it were not for hard working Americans.
I love how their aren’t really any cameras or tags on the products but people are still being civil amongst each other..it has kind of a really welcoming vibe
I cannot believe how many people were selling food/wares. I bet you did a fair few steps walking around. Wish we had better outdoor markets in the UK. Love how easy the women made carrying large packages on their heads, what a fantastic skill to have. Sad to see no diversity with the mannekins, all white and slim in an African country. Saw some lovely dresses I'd love to wear if i could buy them. Thanks for the video.
