This was a fun time until the end. I have prosopagnosia, or face blindness. I have failed to recognize every member of my family at my various work places, including my mom. I have scared myself walking by a mirror after a haircut, thinking my reflection was an intruder. I did not notice the ghosts in Bly Manor had no faces. So when it came down to the power of facial processing at the end, I felt suddenly a bit scared. Delightful~!
I have heard of face blindness before, do you have other ways to identify people you know? How much of an inconvenience is it to you in everyday life if you don't mind me asking? Or is it something your so used too that its a norm?
@@FluorescentPhnix1 Well, i can't speak for people with face blindness, but we've got more than one sense. Smell, hearing. You've recognized people from their voice alone before. Brain plasticity might get involved and heighten their other senses. And there are ways to indentify people physically besides their faces. Tatoos, clothes, accessories, perfume, and many other things.
My vision is so bad without glasses or contact lenses that I lived with similar problems for a couple years in my late teens before I finally got sick of it and made my dad take me to get them checked out. Not realizing that people were smiling and trying to get my attention was probably the biggest inconvenience because it made me seem weird and antisocial, but it was also pretty frightening to see shapes I couldn't make out in the distance or out of the corner of my vision when I was alone.
@@FluorescentPhnix1 Oh, sorry, I didn't see this response. Didn't mean to leave you hanging for a year! Personally, I identify people largely by their hair and voice. I will notice the slightest hair trim or change in styling. I am also very good at identifying voice actors, even when they are using a different accent or register. Other ways I manage is to always look at the clothing of people I'm out with before splitting up. I think I loved cartoons so much as a kid because the characters always wore the same outfits and hair styles, so I never got confused about the plot. Every person I've spoken to with prosopagnosia has different ways of identifying people, and varying degrees of severity. There are two types, acquired and congenital. I imagine it is a bit more jarring for those with acquired face blindness, because they didn't grow up sorting people into categories of hair or whatever to try and remember them. So I'm not confident guessing how they learn to adapt. A lot of people with congenital prosopagnosia do not even realize it for a long time, if at all. For me, it wasn't until leaving the structure of school, where I was with the same students in the same places everyday, that it became extremely apparent. I thought for a long time I was a bad person or thoughtless for not remembering people. In reality, once I know who I am talking to, it's like a floodgate opens. Not only do I know who they are, I can name all their pets and ask how their kids are and if they were able to take care of their flooded basement or whatever. In reality, I have an excellent memory for people. I just can't retain faces. A lot of people describe my double greeting, where I politely smile and ask how they're doing, then realize who they are 30 seconds later, light up, and exclaim, "Oh!! Hello!!!!" I think of how to describe it sometimes. I can see faces. I like to draw and paint and can do portraits, but I have to look at the person literally every 5 seconds just to get it down and struggle somewhat on the portrait as a whole. I frequently have to step back and measure out the proportions, lest I inadvertently recreate the cortical homunculus by mistake. But I do visually process faces. It's the retention I struggle with. Like water through a sieve, the features fall away right after I stop looking. When I try to reconstruct a face from memory, it is like playing slot machines. My brain just selects random features to paste on their face. Then, even that reconstruction is nebulous. Like those little holographic cards that morph when you tilt them. I think what got me to realize what I was experiencing was waking up from a dream I had of my grandmother, who died a decade prior by then. In my dream, I recalled everything about her, from her lilac blazer and purple bow, the ornate faerie pendant she wore on a dangling gold rope chain, her dyed brown hair tucked up in a wispy bun, the slight croak in her voice from age and ages of smoking... But not her face. I thought back on photos I have and could recall plenty with her, the clothes and composition of the photos. Not her face. Then I started thinking back on my mom's face, my sisters', my own. Nothing. It was a lot... I'm mostly fine with it now, but it is problematic. I've had coworkers who think I've snubbed them when I walked past in the store. I've had embarrassing moments running up to hug a friend only to realize that is a stranger, and now we're both traumatized. There have been times a person has approached me outside of work who I know is a customer but couldn't place, only to realize it was the guy 50 years my senior who wanted me to leave work and get into his car, constantly asked me on dates and made inappropriate comments, and was a general creep. Except now we're five minutes into a polite conversation, and I can't suddenly shout, "Ew! No!" because that would be weird. (Note to past self: you really could have done that, actually, and you should have.) I grew up pretty anxious about crowds, and that hasn't improved. I just now also feel anxious I know the crowd and can't tell, so I don't look at others when I am out and about. So that's a bummer. On the other hand, I now gave the very funny story of asking a customer, "Is this your Americano, ma'am?" Only for the woman to stare at me with deep disappointment and say, "...I birthed you." Aaaah, Mom. Only she would snark at me so. Seriously, we both laugh every time we recall the story. So that's what it is like for me, but I'd encourage you to ask around or listen to other accounts if you're curious! There's also a somewhat dramatic short film called 'Prosopagnosia' by Omeleto here on YT. Yes, the lead has prosopagnosia, but the actual twist isn't in the movie script. It is a massive fourth wall breaker, just don't read the comments until after the credits roll. That's fun. :)
This is a great tale. However, when I go hiking whether in a community park or state park, I always carry a 1911 with a .45acp round under the hammer and a full magazine of 7 more. Carry also 3 spare mags. And only recently, have started carrying a backup .357 snubbie revolver, just in case. Never yet encountered any strangeness but prepared for it, I hope.
Alright for any writers who want a great twist story, I have an idea. A man is abducted by aliens, but as the aliens search his mind they see he is a serial killer and then he slips his restraints and is loose on the ship.

My favorite narrator used to be "Dr. Creepen", but Lighthouse has now edged him out to my number one, "on-my-way-to-work" early morning start-up. I use the short stories for the drive to and from, and the long stories for lunch and my nightly dog walks. Perfect daily routine!!!
Cripes I genuinely got the creeps listening to this because it reminded me more than a little of Lovecraft's stories of "the things that are not quite human" such as The Shadow Over Innsmouth. Well done. 👏
I imagine our instinct to feel danger or repulsed to things that look like us but aren’t quite us is because there used to be different species of humans which could’ve posed a threat to us.
Actual other human species that were no more apes than we are. Our species coexisted with at least two of them. And interbred with at least one of them. White people in particular might exist because we cross-bred with Neanderthals. We haven't have time to evolve light-coloured skins on our own, after leaving Africa. They did.

Oh this one is good! The story is great and that ending leaves you with so much unease, but the voice over and editing take it to another level! The crunching snow, the sound of zipper, the tearing of flesh, and of course the voice acting! Phenomenal stuff!

Small creepy story (happened to me): I was driving home from school just Tuesday night and as I usually do to "decompress" from the day is drive up along the base of the mountains and take the scenic route home. When I decided to head back to town I turned down one of the back roads that connects back to the main suburb. Near the mountains there is zero light pollution so it's PITCH BLACK. I am always cautious about wildlife so I turned on my brights. When I did I saw a tall (about 7ft) humanoid creature with antlers. When I blinked it was gone. i've felt that way, that something was 'off' about a group of people who randomly passed through town late at night on an old low travelled road. i was working at a liquor store about ready to close. their energy was unrecognizable. when i asked them if they needed any help they never said anything. it creeped me out. as if they were just shells of bodies with something unhuman inside. they went on their way never buying anything. that happened maybe 15-20 years ago. never forgot it. ...really great story and delivery.
So RUclips asked me some questions on your video before I watched it. Don’t worry, I gave you the biggest smiley face. The only box I didn’t check was “useful information”. I mean I guess I could stretch the truth a bit but I bet all your reviews are great. Also, I didn’t know if they followed me into the video so I watched the whole ads, not just 30 seconds like normal (I believe that’s what it takes to get you paid) first one was only like 20 seconds, second one was a 6 minute add for undergarments that squeeze all your fat in🤦♀️ So after that 6 mins was over and I ordered my size I finally get to relax and watch you video! I’ve never felt more deserving 😂
"Something is killing tourists!" "Is it leaving their wallets and other valuables behind?" "Um yeah.. But how is that rel..." "There's no problem here."
I know we had stories about off trail hikers here stumbling onto (thankfully not into) fish hooks hung all around at eye level, and sawed off shot guns on trip wires. We never knew if they were just stories or if the people were telling the truth, but it was back when weed was still illegal on the west coast but we had the best trees and shrubs to grow and be heavily covered from the helicopters that would fly over so I really wouldn’t be surprised 🤷🏻♀️

One of my all time favorite narrators idk if you've heard the dark Solomon but would love to see and hear you two do something together
Solomon
It's been raining here in Singapore for the last 3 days and your story just hit the spot and it's my weekend. =)
Wonderful story as usual. You're one of my top 3 narrators. Please keep up the good work.
Thank you good sir for another amazing narration ☠️🖤💀 this is my lil escape everyday between work, kids, school activities.....so thanks so much!!
👏 👏 👏 EXCELLENT!!! I adore your storytelling as much as i like to breathe!!! 💜👌🔥
Wow lighthouse! You’ve spoiled us this week. Thank you so much.
You deserve way more subscribers. People don't know what they're missing when they don't get to hear your narrations. I'm serious. You're the best. ❤️
I think about this often but in a way, I'm glad he's a hidden gem just for the lucky ones who find him.
THEY FORGET TO LIKE ! LOOK AT THE PRAISING COMMENTS/ VIEWS - LIKE RATIO. It's often 1/10 th or 1/8 th at best and it slowly really bothers me. It doesn't cost anything to click on a thumb.
But if I keep reminding people LHH will think I am a crazy stalker - if he doesn't already- but what angers me that it's such an easy task, I mean come on , ok, comments help with the algorythm too but still.
So many comments, but so few likes. Why ?
I think he takes the long way around a story. Or the authors do at least. Like get yo the point already. Takes half hour for someone to knock the door and come in.
@@kieranhart5776 This has nothing to do with my comment. If this narrator is not your cup of tea, it's ok. Some people want a quicky and some want the long and deep ones. 😉
Never a mispronounced word, odd timing or an unrecognizable voice change = Lighthouse ; )
I actually giggled when the second time he brought up the bear spray he called it “beer spray”! 😂 He’s my fav narrator for sure, though!!
i love how the ranger at the start is clearly not catching on 😂 like “well thats very good isnt it sir” NO YOU DAFT FOOL HE MEANS THAT DUDE IS WEARING THEIR OUTFITS 😂
It brightens my day when you post ! Your mastery with your voice and the choice of stories is absolutely the best. I love drawing and listening to you :o
Every story is amazing. Never miss a story . Highlight of my Friday night lol I'm a mom with kids
Hope you get to enjoy 😉 another awesome narration by our man Lighthouse Horror himself
Same
@@JessicaBiggers our Friday night ladies. Lol
oh i absolutely love stories about the woods what a great start to the weekend thank you lighthouse ! (also ive watched almost all your videos and adore them all)
I absolutely LOVE park ranger stories ☀️Once again, you come in clutch for the weekend, Lighthouse! I hope you’re doing well!
Sir you are beyond talented at this. Your story choices and reading style are top notch! You're my favorite reader on RUclips. Hands down.
Uh oh,don’t talk to the animals again?
Don’t trust the stranger in mismatched clothing that show up in the middle of a blizzard.
Something to be said that a lighthouse is my favorite horror narrator. EVER.
Omg a park ranger story my favorite 😍 thanks Lighthouse
I love it when there's new stories just when I need them!! (Which is always!)
Yea you knew that guy was going to do something bad…that’s why you left the cabin!
You do realize he had an obligation to check on those campers, right?
always be prepared
also listen to your instincts [and only at the halfway point in the story]
very creepy story well narrated
Rip to Martin, bro went out like a badass.
Just when I think you put out your best, you always top your last story😂 I don't understand how you don't have more subs!!! You have THE best voice infliction I've ever heard. I'm continually submerged in your stories as if I was reading in my own mind.
Amazing, as usual!!
❤
I loved this one so much! The sounds, the narration, the story itself... Uhhh soo goood!!
Nobody else can compete with how absolutely perfect you narrate. Thank you! ❤️
Dang perfect timing,I love a good park ranger story. Especially when dumb tourists get in trouble, I deal with plenty of that in my home mountains.
You know the drill Stephan, this insomniac thanks you. It’s nice to have company- bombass story as always. How’re you doing?
Now that’s a great story. Good job with the narrating.
while it's more likely that the uncanny valley exists to make us nervous about possibly diseased or otherwise dangerous individuals, I have always loved the theory that the uncanny valley exists because we evolved to be afraid of things that don't look quite human.
we are naturally afraid of things we dont know / cant fully perceive / are slightly "off", it is in general a good defense mechanism
Always makes my day when I see another upload. Really is the best narration , draws you in from the get go.
So good 😍 cheers!! Would love this in a series
You find the most interesting stories and your narrations are superb, I am so glad I found your channel and subscribed. Thanks for sharing Tennessee USA 💓
The creeps omg it's such a good story with a very nice narration! You always make such good videos. Thanks for your hard work!
I’m new to Lighthouse. I really appreciate the background audio music and sounds being a proper volume.
So many drown out the narrator time after time.
I’m subscribed now!
I actually discovered this by total accident - I meant to click another video and not paying full attention I ended up clicking a random one right next to it and after finding out I decided to give it a chance. Well, I gotta say I don't regret it! Great narration, a very catchy story that pulled me right in... I will check more of your videos in the future for sure! 💯👍🏻
Ive had the worst week possible, just last might i had a man call me fat and ugly all because i told him to leave a girl alone. I got yelled at by a karen today. This made my day. Thank you.
I absolutely love this narrators voice. Really adds to these kind of storys.
This is another wonderful video! Thank you so much! Lighthouse Horror is the most consistently good content creator on YT! Just one awesome video after another.
i've felt that way, that something was 'off' about a group of people who randomly passed through town late at night on an old low travelled road. i was working at a liquor store about ready to close. their energy was unrecognizable. when i asked them if they needed any help they never said anything. it creeped me out. as if they were just shells of bodies with something unhuman inside. they went on their way never buying anything. that happened maybe 15-20 years ago. never forgot it. ...really great story and delivery.
All week long I look forward to my peace as I drift offbinto imagination land to your superb storys I absolutely love it.
So RUclips asked me some questions on your video before I watched it.
Don’t worry, I gave you the biggest smiley face. The only box I didn’t check was “useful information”. I mean I guess I could stretch the truth a bit but I bet all your reviews are great.
Also, I didn’t know if they followed me into the video so I watched the whole ads, not just 30 seconds like normal (I believe that’s what it takes to get you paid) first one was only like 20 seconds, second one was a 6 minute add for undergarments that squeeze all your fat in🤦♀️
So after that 6 mins was over and I ordered my size I finally get to relax and watch you video! I’ve never felt more deserving 😂
Thank you so much Stephen for making my morning with this amazing story. Top notch work as always. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Not come across this site before but I must admit it had my attention all through the story, and I totally agree the narrator is excellent!
Wonderful story as always. Thank you Lighthouse Horror. 👍
One the best stories I've heard on you channel!
Forget the 12 guage, get a 10 guage shotgun and load it with Federal hollow point Power-Shok rifled slugs. SPLAT
Awesome story telling! I was on the edge of my seat listening to this story! o_0
Can't wait to hear more!!
These stories help me unwind after work, look forward to hearing your narratives. Ani, Sydney Australia.
Only your voice can keep me focused. Thank you.
Love the immersion from sound effects ❤
"Something is killing tourists!"
"Is it leaving their wallets and other valuables behind?"
"Um yeah.. But how is that rel..."
"There's no problem here."
My niece lives in the Adirondacks, she better be careful.
The descriptions of this story are phenomenal! Very well written and expertly narrated!!!
You're my favorite narrator. Thank you for getting me through. Much love.
I love these. Ppl going missing in the national parks is crazy true. So many. Id wager cartels and such are operating in them
I know we had stories about off trail hikers here stumbling onto (thankfully not into) fish hooks hung all around at eye level, and sawed off shot guns on trip wires. We never knew if they were just stories or if the people were telling the truth, but it was back when weed was still illegal on the west coast but we had the best trees and shrubs to grow and be heavily covered from the helicopters that would fly over so I really wouldn’t be surprised 🤷🏻♀️
@@StarBrained i wrote this before he got to the part about the Spaniards part lol. I know theres a few heavily used trafficking spots in this country. Not surprising, I95 from miami to nyc, I 10 in fl from jacksonville to california and the coastal hwy of cali to tijuana mex are big routes
When I see The Lighthouse I know it’s gonna be a great day !
This guy does storytelling so well!
I'm from the Adirondacks, near gore mountain. Still have a place there we go to in the summer. I love it up there. Crazy stories up there. My grandfather worked for Burtons mines in north river. I would stay at my grandparents farm for 2 weeks and my other grandparents place in north creek 2 weeks when I was a kid. Did alot of fishing and hunting up there. I have heard some strange stories of people just go missing these people knew the area and lived there their whole lives
YESS !
LHH to the rescue as always when I need something to calm down !
Approaching 330 k .....I wish it was 500k. or the double, you surely deserved it 2 years ago imho.
Thank you for ....maybe 4 , x years of keeping me calm during my sleepless nights. It will be 350 soon, then 500k.
If I could do anything to help, I would .
Hey, man some of those tourists deserve it. 😅 LightHouse Horror my friend, thank you for the STELLAR video!
🔥👊😎🔥
haha!😃 Funny + cold
Yeah, some of them.
Have a great weekend Tenzen & your lovely Mrs.💑

Been anticipating your latest tale with bated breath 😌
That one got me good tonight, very well done as usual Light, thank you and have a great weekend everyone!
One of the best stories and narration I have heard of from many of websites I've visited and subscribed to.
This story is about as relevant as one possibly could be. Well, in regards to the nor'easter that already dropped 6 inches of snow in the last 2 hours on my doorstep. Luckily I’m not expecting guests heh.
Also, wanted to express my agreement with many of the other commenters in saying that this is truly the best channel of its kind on RUclips. Your natural talent and control of your voice, the quality of your videos and stories you select truly are unmatched.
Hell yeah, another one for the Park Ranger universe
Whoever writes these stories is brilliant. The gentleman that reads them certainly does them justice ...
dunno. i imagined hed come up with something more creative at the end.
Awesome!! I really enjoy listening to your stories;)
Wow I needed this.. thanks.. I hope you do more about the frb prison. Idk if there are more or not..
Thank you for sharing great stories!
That was a good story, love me some park ranger scaries!
I swear, I have a serious crush on you Lighthouse just from listening to your awesome genius narrations! 🤣🤣🤣Lol! I know nothing about you other than the fact that this is my new favorite creepypasta channel! Your a great talent. Keep 'em rolling!
Great stories, perfect voice for narration.
Damn this was good and I was think it was a Wendigo at first. It had some of my favorites in a Park Ranger supernatural story, an isolated winter location.
