    The RUclips commentors who bash the long term maintenance expenses, are seemingly unfamiliar with an extended repair warranty. Believe it or not, you can actually negotiate the warranty costs and coverage options separate from the vehicle MSRP or combine the price into your monthly payment. Most dealerships will sell an extended warranty at 0% interest or at a reduced price as an incentive for the buyer. If you decide to sell or trade the vehicle before the extended warranty expires, you can receive a prorated refund based on the years and mileage accrued during your ownership. Now I guess I'll just go on reading the comments section where people whine about selling expendable body parts or taking out a second mortgage to pay for the cost of a replacement transmission or an equally expensive turbo intake system.

    • @francismartinez6049
      @francismartinez6049 6 лет назад +2

      J High why would I waste my money on an extended warranty with Volvo when I can probably get a Lexus for about the same price and not have to get an extended warranty because it's already more reliable. The Lexus will also have a better resale value so when I sell it after 20 years., it will actually be worth something in the market.

    • @ivanlowjones
      @ivanlowjones 6 лет назад +2

      Brian Lawrance
      You have to drive a car for 20 years or until the wheels fall off? I seldom keep a car more than 3 or 4 years so an extended warranty is a good investment for me. I suppose your Lexus will never need repairs or replacement parts during your 20 years of ownership? Good luck in 2037 with your 20 year old Lexus. Let me guess, you still listen to music on cassette tapes too?

    My niece bought the XC90 Inscription (hybrid) a few weeks ago. She loves it and bought it for $8,200 off MSRP (not sure why the big drop from MSRP). Throw in state & federal tax credits and a couple other financial goodies and the car/price was too good to pass on. Seems this car is the sleeper in the luxury crossover market.

    Come on Dude? GLC43 and SQ5 are sports models, so where's the XC60 T8 R-Design to make this a bit more fair. It would actually take a Polestar version to be truly fair. Folks, test drive an R-Design version with airbag suspension (T6 or T8); you'll prefer it to the rock hard AMG set-up. The R-Design also has the best seats of the lot (yes, better, more comfortable than these luxury Inscription seats). The XC60 also has more rear leg room than ALL of the competitors.

  • @boltar2003
    @boltar2003 6 лет назад +5

    supercharged + turbocharged = more to go wrong and a more stressed engine. Get rid of one (or both) of them and increase the capacity FFS. The whole single engine capacity and layout for all vehicles route volvo have gone down recently is simply to cut costs, not because it makes mechanical (or even enviromental) sense. Oh, and it'll only produce 400hp while there's charge in the battery, otherwise it'll be down to whatever the ICE can produce minus the power required to recharge the battery.

    • @fmonk
      @fmonk 6 лет назад +1

      Right. If you take an engine that wasn't designed to be supercharged, the statement would be true. This sort of sentiment is a knee-jerk reaction. If Volvo engineers intended the engine to be both turbo- and supercharged, they most certainly engineered the engine to withstand the higher pressures and heat. Such sentiment also demonstrate lack of understanding towards either form of supercharging. Likely, the turbo is meant to boost top end power, while the supercharger is meant to boost power from low to mid rpm... thus mitigating turbo lag. If the engine was spec'ed to be supercharged, there is no reason why it can't be mated to both a turbo and a supercharger.

    • @boltar2003
      @boltar2003 6 лет назад

      There's plenty of overlap. The supercharger doesn't switch off when the turbo kicks in.

    • @boltar2003
      @boltar2003 6 лет назад

      Ha, you have more faith in car companies that most people! All components of a car are designed down to a price and the engine will be no exception. Sure, for the initial owner it probably won't be an issue, but 10 years down the line I can guarantee a higher than normal percentage of these engines will have blown. VW had a 1.4 that was turbo and supercharged and they had lots of problems. As for turbos only boosting top end power - that hasn't been the case for 20 years. Check out some of BMWs turbos that kick in not much above 1000rpm. Also volvo has developed electric driven and stored air pressure driven turbos that can both kick in from idle though I don't know if this car has either. I suspect not.
      Also there's another point which matters to some people - it sounds rubbish.

    • @stephendoherty8291
      @stephendoherty8291 6 лет назад

      Volvo designed one engine to offer standard turbo assist, supercharge and hybrid add-ons and all their cars will be fitted with these until they all are just offered with plug-in as standard. So if you are betting the house on one engine (with diesel as an afterthought) you can bet they tested this to the extreme (lots of extreme weather in Scandanavia). Volvo wanted one engine design and in V4 able to move a heavy SUV (even if designed to cut weight wherever possible). Ford bet on the Ecoboost tech and they still have to offer bigger engines to move their heavier trucks with no option to offer supercharging or hybrid assist. Turbo assist has been around for decades (standard in every semi, bus and diesel engine). Supercharging is a simple tech (VW offered it on small Golf engines). If all "tech" failed over time most used cars would be without fuel injection, turbos in diesels and we'd all be driving while coughing up our lungs in traffic fumes.

    • @boltar2003
      @boltar2003 6 лет назад

      So you don't think turbos fail. Whatever you say. Not sure where you got the idea that turbos improve emissions, they simply provide more air to burn more fuel in a given time period so increasing power.

    • @mhkuang

      rockn roll: Yes you are right. Doesn't make sense to burn fossil fuel to create the electrical to charge the battery to move the car. Might as well just burn the fossil fuel to move the car directly.

    • @LlyleHunter
      @LlyleHunter 6 лет назад

      I don't see why you can't be a tree hugger and still drive a hundred thousand dollar car, particularly if its fuel efficient. There are models without wood accents, and some that use reclaimed wood. Moreover the wood used to make cars, musical instruments and furniture must be from companies that raise the trees on farms and practice constant reforestation. Nobody protests the trees being used. People protest when forests are cleared and never replaced.
