How to Ollie on Your Wakeboard

- Learning this is easier and probably more fun than you think. Often I hear wakeboarders say that they don't really do the Ollie to then find out that they don't understand how it works. AND this can help your airs on your wakesurfer as well! Getting air on your board doesn't have to be way up in the air to have fun, and there's so many variations of this trick that we take from skateboarding.

Not a bad idea thnkfrsh! For now, go the same length, not different lengths, and make sure you're communicating about who's doing what and where you're going.

This was really helpful and cleared up a little confusion from watching other videos. I’ve struggled to feel comfortable with the Ollie and this has held up my progression. I’m looking forward to practicing and progressing next year.

Hey buddy! My dad was the silver skurfer. Rode with Ken Bernard. First generation of hyperlite wakeboarding with HO sports.
I would really appreciate if you would show people what wakeboard slalom was. My dad did it in the 1994 worlds. It would be amazing. I have a bunch of old wakeboards from the 90's if you need one!!!

Great Videos!!!! We have a place on a small lake and it gets very busy on the weekends so its get very rough do you have any suggestions on things that can be done as we just end up surfing when it rough
Take fins off, go slow, 10ish for kids, 12-13ish for bigger adults and stay between the wakes where the boat plows and gives you a smoother area to work on spinning around. Can learn do surface 180s, 3s, learn to handle pass, ride blind a little, switch stuff, inside out jumps. That’s when you jump from behind to boat to outside the wakes.

Hey Shaun, I have a quick question for you. I am working on my toe side backroll and I can't seem to get farther than half way around. Do you have any tips to get all of the way around. I’m 54 and was on a 20 year water skiing hiatus. I love this channel!! Anyhow I have 2 questions. I’m 6’7” 220lbs. I’m currently riding a HL144 (I think) lol I’m looking at getting your board but what size? Should I go 150? What boots do your recommend? I’m a 12 to 13 size US.
2nd when I’m getting air and land I’m falling forward. Should I lean against the line all the way through the entire jump? I’m afraid of looping out.
Go up to the Hyperlite Murray 150. And probably will have to go to the open toe 11-14. Biggest closed toe Hyperlite makes is 11-12 so that could work but will have to be your call

Hi Shawn I wakesurf left foot forward and surf in the right side of the boat and I am wondering if this will effect how I ride.
No different riding w the other foot forward but good question. Watch it in a mirror if you’re a visual learner. Maybe I should put that at the end of my vids so goofy riders (right footers) can see what it looks like. 🤔
Hey Shaun, I saw on the internet that you were the inventor of air tricks if that is true can you tell me how did you come up with it.
Good question, but I didn’t invent em. I just started doing more than most people were doing and I started taking a lot of the wake tricks and brought em outside the wake to do em off flat water. Lots of riders were doing em back in the mid to late 90s, but I feel like Parks and I were doing the most at one point. We were doing some air tricks in the turns during comps so we could more tricks in

I know this is off topic, but I’m struggling with Pro-Starts in wakeboarding . It’s hard to get the board in the water so I can be straight up and down when I’m on floating on my back.. I know there’s a technique to it. You have any videos on Pro-Starts…?

One question about the ollies though… over the past couple of years I've watched stacks of ollie tutorials (boat / cable, wakeboard / wakeskate) and they all suggest you initially push/stamp down on the front foot, like the opposite of how you ollie on a skateboard, and then bring the board level by lifting your back leg 😕
It's a bit of a moot point though as we go to a small lake teeming with jetskis, so it's generally choppier than the high seas 😭
So I don’t have a wake tower I board off the transoms eyes are the tricks harder like this?
Tricks like this won't be more difficult "tied low" as we call it
