@@just4koi143 If I'm honest i'm not sure how you would go about it :D have you seen Frank Koi's video ? He's out an up-pipe after his shower and it works really well at removing the excess protein in his pond. I think the water runs through constant air bubbles to produce a foam, the return is slightly lower than the top which is where the foam bubbles out of the top. So there would be a T piece on top, one way to return gravity to the drum and then an opening at the top for the foam to drop into a bucket or something. As I say I am no expert so worth checking out Frank Koi's channel for more information. Hope that helps mate !
I would've been tempted to drill a hole for the airline into the cheapest component, perhaps going into the spare plastic on those 4" to 2" reducers? Perhaps create a ring of holes at the base and come down from above to connect - much like the inside of the eazy pod? I certainly wouldn't be starting off by going anywhere near those very expensive looking acrylic tubes. Those tank connectors are designed for flat surfaces not the curved surface of the tube (sorry, writing this as I watch, I see you found out the hard way). With regards to the air pump. If you had fitted two iso valves, one either side of the Tee piece, the pump could then be used to bubble up just one tube at a time. I know this might be a PITA but a darned sight cheaper than buying a meatier air pump. Would it be worth dropping the pond pump even further than 60%? Pushing the mucky water through the UV even slower to give the algae loads of time on the UV and less pressure on the muck as it hits the K1 (so, theoretically, giving the K1 more of a chance to grab and keep hold of the muck?). Just catching up on youtube video's, loving the Jk Double Barrel Upflow Filter.
Can't wait till you clean it, you'll be amazed at what it catches, maybe later, upgrade to the K+ media, a lot smaller, will catch even more crap.
Hi marek, ah mate I want to do the clean now but getting ready to go fishing with the kids will do a update tomorrow on clean and blue lab guardian, k1 micro no good for the upflow ?thanks 👍🏻
@@just4koi143 hi Mate, i think the k1 micro will work, but the K+ is even smaller with more protected surface area, it will compact together more tightly allowing it to collect more rubbish both on the outside and inside of media, only downside is it needs cleaning every 3 days, I bought 25 litre bag, put 11 litres in tube witch is 200 Mil wide, the rest I put in bio chamber, I'll fit guardian this week hopefully.
@@marekskoipond9083 thanks marek, I’ve only pity bout 6 to 7 litres in each tube which is 150mm, you think I can put 10L in each, I’m pushing bout 6000lph you think I should up the flow or keep same ? Thanks again 👍🏻
@@just4koi143 I would leave it at about 7lts in each for now seeing it's 150 Mil tube, see how you get on, you can always add more later if you want, I think your flow rate is ideal, I'm running about 10,000 litres through my 200 tube, and I think it's probably a tad too much, the reason I've done it my way over the shower is I'm tight lol 😁, I only run one 20000 pump for the whole pond system set at 70%, about 127 watts.
I'm here within the first 50 views - that's a rarity for me. Anyway, gunna stop typing and start watching now. Lol
🤣🤣🤣thanks matey 👍🏻
@@just4koi143 good set up pal - looks well put together 👍 at first i was like "does he realise he's basically building a tempest?" and then about 10 seconds later you mentioned them 🤣🤣🤣
Yes I know 🤣 but simple and fun to diy, amazing what it has pulled out over 1 night
When you do these DIY videos, how about telling us the cost? I bet that lot was getting on for £350-£400!
Hi mate, if you watched other video on diy upflow other channels don’t even show you how to build one from start to end 😉which I have done, the cost of diy a jk double barrel upflow is under £300, which cost cheaper than a tempest £250 for one tube that doesn’t even aerated the media how it should, my channel ain’t bout cost it’s bout how I do and what I do, thank you for watching and take care 👍🏻
Who is going to be first with a triple?
🤣🤣🤣
Hehe 1st buddy 👍🏻
Your the man 👍🏻
Man nice work but you must be spending a fortune on this isn’t that evolution aqua triller cheaper than making it your own lol
Thanks mate, the cost is around the same as evolution aqua but I get 2 for the price of one and works much better than a tempest 👍🏻
