Hi James, great video but... 'The' is NOT only for singular objects. Examples: The dog. The dogs. The pen. The pens. The man. The men. Singular and plural. a & an are for singular objects. Also... a is followed by a consonant SOUND. an is followed by a vowel SOUND. an hour The h is a consonant but not a consonant sound. Hour starts with a vowel SOUND....the same as our. (Crazy English!) Thanks for THE video. It was A pleasure. THE pleasure was all mine. :)
Hello, James! Thank you for all things stat you are doing! Your videos are really great, it helps me improve my English like an expensive private lessons. And it always pleasant to see how the quality of your videos ( production and so on) are improving. I guess that you are super busy, but I think that it is a good idea to reshoot some old essential videos ( like that, for example) to make your content little better ( if it is possible) kind regards! And thank you one more time for your work.
Hello, James! Thank you for all things stat you are doing! Your videos are really great, it helps me improve my English like an expensive private lessons.
You're a very charming person and you know what you're doing! Thumbs up! You know, I live in Russia and I understand how difficult it is to study a foreign language whan you don't live in a country where this language is spoken. Your classess make up to it a lot!.
You are really good teacher. I just discovered you and you are the best. You are talking fluently, clearly and I understand so many sentences. Thank you so much for videos. And keep going, please!
What about countable and uncountable stuff, geographical use of THE (with names) , and omission of articles. I'm still learning and thought it'd be better if you include these topics to this lesson. Thanks for the great vid....
Dude you saved my ass, I have "A" presentation this friday in my institute where o native english speakers go and I have to explain a/an/the, Ill base my work in your explanation but Ill have to reduce my level and fastness because they are basic level, your making a great contribution thanks a lot and gud lock !
Hi James, I am an native English speaker- but I love the lessons, because I realize how little I know of explaining English grammar. This topic is still challenging. We could say use an article when you can count something like: a dog (one dog, two dogs etc ) How about the word "weather" "The weather is nice today" That sounds right. but "one weather, two weathers " doesn't sound right. Or should we say "Weather is nice today" maybe, but never "A weather is nice today."
Hi James I just came across this video of yours. I think it's one of the best ones that explains articles. I teach English with an organization called Literacy Volunteers of America. (LVA) plus I have my own students on the side. I will be showing this video to the LVA staff and my students.
your lesson helped me a lot, tomorrow I have to give a class about the articles so this is a good lesson for me, because you explain very well thank you.
Thank you so much :) I’m having hard time using the articles, and my partner always corrects me when i use them incorrectly. But thank you for enlightening me :)
Teacher, I knew how to use the rule about articles but it was in my Spanish language, now I rememberd everything about it but in English thanks to you teacher.
sir, Thank you so much! can you help me or atleast give me hints how to answer exams with paragraph comprehension and organization?? do you have a video with this kind of topic?? much appreciated if you can help me with this. thank you and more power!
Thank you James. Can you please further explain about the article, especially THE where not to use?. I will really appreciate your efforts and time. Thank you
What a pity about writing “your” instead of “you're” for “you are” on the board, but it does not detract from the lesson which is very clear and appreciated. Alexander Pope reminds us that to err is human.
I enjoyed your video. Just one little thing- you spelled "your" when it should have been "you're" as in "when everyone knows what you're talking about."
I need a specific help on using "the". Still confuse on where and how to look when it comes to Vowel and consonant! It would really appreciate it if you can help me on this issue :)
James is my favorite teacher. I wish I had a class with you Mr.E Lol
ha love it bruh
This is one of the best vids on this topic
