The area of effect for an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) can vary significantly based on several factors, including the altitude of the detonation, the yield of the nuclear device, and the geographical features of the area.

That GRU unit Chris could not remember is "Unit 29155". Chris is spot on about the influencing of attitudes to us in Ukraine via Russian disinfo, anyway, you made my point for me Pyotr, very nicely with your counterpoint to Chris re: escalatoin, "...you did say unless there was significant escalation, then the NATO alliance might green their use, some people might disagree with you, that indiscriminate bombing across Ukraine is enough...." damn straight Pyotr, well said. Let's take my home town of Pokrovsk as an example, my wife and I are IDP in west Ukraine, but the Russian have shelling the crap out of the town for a while now, it's all civilian homes they are bombing, and here's Chris with that same old BS about US IN UKRAINE escalating ? TBH, when did anyone before this war in 2022 ever use that term ? "I was at the pub and this drunk guy accosted me, but I ignored him because I didn't want to escalate", yea, right!!! They never used that term in their lives before 2022, now they throw it around willy nilly. It really grinds my gears. I suppose it's easy to throw that BS term around when you are not the one that's been displaced twice and lost 2 homes (or about to lose the second one in Pokrovsk, when the Russians finally bomb it) it's effectively lost now anyway. Good times."

If the collective West wants to end this thing, it could lift a finger literally every once in a while to message to the Russian people. You know, we could be bothered to communicate past Putin directly to them. The United States specifically has cache in this area. The roots of this conflict are in how the Cold War ended: people got culture shock sitting in their living rooms. Their world changed around them and they didn't necessarily have a say in it. That is part of the popular support among the older demographics - people my age and older in Russia - wanting to be a Great Power again. There is a fear about "the 90's" in Russia and returning to that time. It was bad, economically. Putin is seen as the guy who made it better.
If Putin is seen as the guy that's changing the economy back to the 90's, he would be done in terms of the Russian people. I think.
There are other issues in terms of how the Soviets interpreted WWII history, and therefore an inherent prevalence of an extreme right mindset arising from the skepticism about the communist, extreme left mindset - Hungary and the former East Germany are a good examples of this. Putin is speaking to this much more effectively than anyone in the collective West, because the collective West doesn't get it, and it hasn't been bothered to get it. Peace requires lifting a finger every once in a while to talk with people. And people like to know that someone gets them. All any human being wants in this world is to be understood. It builds trust when that happens.
    I appreciate the conversation. Thanks!

If Russia and China were great friends and China were planning for aggression then China would have secured the pipeline with Russia. However, China didn't both because it isn't prepared for an oil blockade after invading Taiwan and they don't trust how Russia weaponized oil against Germany after the invasion. So I think it's wise to conclude that they aren't that close.

You really need to fix your internet.
    Interesting points bought up,
Personally, don't think Ukraine is a major player even in it's own war. For the simple reason that without US support, it can't withstand an Russian onslaught.
Plus most observers can observe actions made by state actors.
You can analyze stuff, but at the end of the day, the game on the ground is the main thing.
Building narratives is good, but it needs to be backed by a lot of true undisputible facts.
Naratives which are not built properly are just a annoince and infruites, n does not do what it's meant to do.

@@alexmashine before 2022, from 2014, NATO already provided logistics and training and lots of stockpile of weapons. Gosh, such dumb comment in an intelligence discussion is a product of not researching related data.

@@alexmashine Sure, they might have fought the first year withouht major help as you claim.
But we do need to take into consideration that they did recieve weapons and training from NATO, more like USA. And thats after the 2014 Crimea Takeover.
Still, I don't think they can sustain any kind of defense without major help from the west.
