Mat I added some Pearly gates like on The Billy Gibbon reissue. I got the Zebra color.and changed my tail piece and bridge to black. I found some cream speed knobs and added a cream toggle switch washer and left the switch black .the pick up rings are still black i added a cream pick guard and added./ 500k pots. for the push pull coil splitter i added. that should look good with the red whine. alot like your Les Paul.
i also love the 498T in the bridge and the 490r in the neck. just perfection for the lespaul. Agreed, much better than those vintage classic and classic plus pickups.
Great playin Matt, Plenty of feelin. i'm sure u have played a long time to get this good. I ain't played for 34 yr's until 6mt's ago ( got the bug back ). Keep it up LOL.
Wow, I just realized you said 490R and I thought you wrote 490T... I really don't know what the difference is but I'll be doing some research now for sure! It does sound eerily like the original T-Tops when Gibson first went from hand-wiring to machine-wiring and it's very impressive!
I have the 490r/498t in my 2009 SG Standard and I feel the same way. Also, BB King guitar has that same neck pup. That should say something right there. What you think about the 61 model pups?
Your welcome, Thanks for letting me know.Next month I'm getting rid of the nickle 490's.I'm getting black or zebra. Now i have to decide what to get.If I should get a 498t like the stock ones or something else that's good for all around stuff like the Satriani Dimarzio' set.Iknow one thing cool about Dimarzio they are cool with there specks they give you there specs output and homes rating unlike others.Do you have any idea's on a good set.I seen a new Slash Les Paul .It has Dunkan alnico 2's
Great tone I have a question if you don't mind what are your eq settings on the amp and are using any effects. I own a fender supersonic 22 and a hughes & kettner grandmeister 36 and my biggest pain in the ass is findind that clean, bluesy crunch breakup that you have nailed that would work for humbuckers and singles because I use seymour duncan p-rails in my guitars.
Gerald Elsbree The video is played using a Line6 PODXT not the Hughes & Ketner you can probably see behind me in the video. However I do understand your plight! With the H&K Statesman I use the Clean channel for everything it's punchier and very dynamic, and then use two overdrive pedals. One drive pedal is set very low - you need the kind of drive pedal that has transparency that cleans up when you lower the guitar vol - this will give just enough dirt to blues-ify your tone with enough extra volume to attempt to push the valves in the amp. (Mooer Hustle Drive is quite good for this ) The second pedal I would set for a full blown lead sound with appropriate volume increase. Check out some of my other videos where I'm using amp and pedals and not the PODxt - hope this helps!
Well after hearing this again is there any pickup that would compliment the 490r better than the 498t or 490t ?Also this video is better the 2nd time around Your improvisational skilz are just amazing!! You have never ending ways of puting together your chops and adding them diatonics so smoothly I'm definitely keeping my 490r
good God man you are great. I lay claim to having a 55' LP replica, of which I can still play to the wall, but man your styling with really something else. If you're NOT playingt with a band right now, then more power to you - because I am about your age, and all that revolving door action has done for me is nothing less than establish an entire locality of wannabee's who I would'nt even to this day trust moving my paul from one sode of the room to another. Beautiful styling my man simply and naturally beautiful. wow. Is it possible you mix up some of your own batch of satriani/ten years after brew? I would buy that like yesterday and convince others in my No.Va. area to doexactly the same..
Nice! I have a 1990 Black LPS that I have been ignoring. This made me pull it back out. I will Google but not sure if you can tell us what the difference is with the 500K pots? Also what amp model are you using in the PODxt?
Hey Matt.. HA! Someone else who knows about those Herco picks! I used them for years and liked them but have now moved on to Dunlop Ultrex super sharp picks...90-1.00..their way better dude...better control, more accuracy..and they SOUND better..only problem is their price and that they don't last long enough!
in the early days (70's) probably Jimmy Page. There were a couple of solo's he did on Maggie Bell's Suicide Sal album which once I'd heard them I seemed to start doing it though you can hear it his Zep stuff too. Since then I've heard it a lot from older blues players which must be where JP got it from.
Great tone indeed. Your attack sounds like you're using a medium or heavier pick...but my ears may be deceiving me. Regardless, very tasteful indeed. Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering if you are using a 490t or 498T because when I ordered new pickups I got the 490t and 490r pups instead of the 498t ? I wanted new ones for the 4 wire because I'm having the new 500k pots added with the push pull for coil splitting. Our guitars look identical.LOL! I even use a Pod XT live I love the way you play the blues! Great playing. Anyhow ,Can you tell me what bridge pickup your using? I use the middle switch position
absolutely outstanding.. matt, you are in my pantheon of the truly great..
The arrangment was superb. The art work perfored by your fabulous fingers......once again rings the bell on a cold clear day Sir.
Love it man. Sounds great. Just my kind of blues.
My God that thing is beautiful, my fav color , and your playing, very soulful, awsome vid man!
Hi Matt, great playing and especially the tone of this guitar is awesome,. Thanks Michael Newell from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada
Wow Matt, absolutely phenomenal. Love it.
Beautiful sound and playing man.Thumbs up!
Matt...Mike Thorpe here, great playing, and nice Gibson.
Beautiful playing
Hot damn that sounds amazing. Love the look of that guitar too.
very nice sound and beautiful LEs Paul color.
Awesome playin' & tone! A real pleasure to listen to bro
beautiful guitar
Amazing touch.
Excellent style beaucoup de feeling superbe émotion bravo
Fantastic tone... Reminds me of the classic honk from T-Top open faced PAFs!
Really awesome! I think I wholly agree with your assessment!

What a sound!
beautiful styling .

Hi Matt, Wow this is just great, a long time of practice i think.LOL

brilliant!
Nice stuff!
Great playing, great tone.
Have you ever tried Seymour Duncan P-rails?
I'd be very interested to see what kind of sounds you could get out of them.
Yes, man!
Me like. What kind of amp can I use for this kind of sound ?
very good
I loved your tone so much I shared this video on Facebook.. Would you upload that PODxt tone to the Line6's Custometone site?
Great tone I have a question if you don't mind what are your eq settings on the amp and are using any effects. Hello Sir, have you tried the suhr aldrich neck pick up?
good God man you are great. I lay claim to having a 55' LP replica, of which I can still play to the wall, but man your styling with really something else. Hi, is it still the IronGear Hot Slag in the bridge?
Ever check the dc resistance on both pickups? I have 7.5k neck and 8.4k bridge and sounds similar to this.
The 498T is over 10K, I think it's close to 14K, sounds like you have a 490R/490T setup, which is a really nick combo.
very nice playing again sir! what is the color on this sexy beast!!!
Thx! ; )
Yep heavy-ish I guess, always use Herco Flex 75 but only after the edge has been sharpened by use on acoustic!
Sweet!
And everyone cracks on Line 6....sweet tone for sure and expert playing.
Everyone cracks on Line 6 because it does all the work instead of the guitar.
And if it works for someone you would have a problem with it why? It's a tool, that's all.
Just stating a fact, not a personal opinion.
Nice! I have a 1990 Black LPS that I have been ignoring. This made me pull it back out.
I will Google but not sure if you can tell us what the difference is with the 500K pots?
Also what amp model are you using in the PODxt?
mate, you are too good
Sounds great! What overdrive did you use?
Cool ✌️
Great tone and playing. Which amp/stomps are you using in PodXT?
wow!!!
Hey Matt, What are you playing through on this clip? Sounds amazing.
Very nice.....i like it :)
Oh also, do you tend you use minor blues scales? thx!
Hey Matt..
HA! Someone else who knows about those Herco picks! Great Playing! Where do you pick up all those chromatics from? Any influence in particular?
in the early days (70's) probably Jimmy Page. The Best (mantap ) 👍☝👍☝👍-indonesia
That's awesome as hell, my man! Great phrasing & tone, very Clapton-ish! 😁 What kind of amp are you playing thru?
Hey friend !!
Great playing and great guitar, your sound is at times Jimmy Page's sound !!
Are you Jimmy page??? Haha nice playing.
Grown to bread and led Zeppelin
100%
very tasty..strings?..pick??...lead???..amp??..settings?..pedals?..very tasty- glad u dont live in my town- too smooooooooth- thnx bro.
Miss that tone Mr T!
Great tone indeed. Your attack sounds like you're using a medium or heavier pick...but my ears may be deceiving me. Regardless, very tasteful indeed. Thanks for sharing.
this guy is like a chromatic stevie ray vaughan !
that LP sure is glossy.
Then again, with the way you play, you can have no neck, bridge, arms or legs and would still sound good!
I was wondering if you are using a 490t or 498T because when I ordered new pickups I got the 490t and 490r pups instead of the 498t ?
