    Probably the best video I've seen for snatch technique, could you do one for cleans/C&J?
    When I catch it in the bottom I fold over, is my drop too aggressive or core not strong enough?

    Been snatching for 5months. It's a very slow process to get the foudation set. Mobility is key folks !!!! Took months just to get comfortable doing overhead squats past parallel and now i like it and look forward to it too. I can see why it takes years to get strong and good at this. The body SLOWLY adapts since you're placing loads in awkward positions. Starting to finally add weight and boy is it challenging. This was a very informaive and fantastic video! Your interview on the Mind Pump was also a super gem !! Thank you from Oahu .

      Yup. I have been oly lifting for a little past 8 months now. The first 2-3 months was me doing just the bar or slapping 10 lb weights on each side. Now, I am clean and jerking 245 lbs. Hoping to push to 275 soon

    I am now someone who has done CrossFit for years and still see newbies not learning the Weightlifting movements properly. Also some CrossFit coaches do not know how to assess the mobility and strength of a gym goer to execute the lifts which I wish was done for me. Learned through watching YT vids from you, Garage Strength, and Zack Telander.
    The snatch is one of more complicated things to do in sport, and it pays to be patient and understand its not just speed and strength, but also getting strong in the positions we need to hit for a successful lift. Grear vid.

    Only one point of feedback, maybe get an audio recorder that you can clip to your shirt while you're explaining the techniques in the video, from which you can add the audio later while editing so there's less echo in the video.
    Other than that, amazing explanation, helped me tremendously 😄

    So I've just started this year, coming from years of lifting beforehand. However, I've never experienced such bad skin scraps from snatches/cleans, should they be close, or touching? Because surely on the pull if they are touching it's a point of friction for the first push part of the movement? Cheers!

    14:10 will the jump and catch drill help with the third pull under the bar on heavier weights? Or is there another drill for the pull under?

    • @sonnywebsterGB

    • @haveatyou1

      @@sonnywebsterGB Thanks. So if just thinking about the jump, elbows high as hands, push to overhead -will that be sufficient to catch the bar in lowest squat position when the weight increases? I ask because I end up power snatching when the weights get heavier (even though I have mobility for the overhead squat)

    Sonny, it's time to meet Craig Richey again and challenge him in a H2H, it would be EPIC CONTENT

    • @BLB138
      @BLB138 2 года назад

      I think it’s something we would all love to see. I’ve said the same thing before (either on one of Sonny’s videos, or maybe Craig’s? Can’t remember). However, and I sincerely hope I’m wrong when I say this, but Craig is now at a competitive level, and Sonny is banned from not only competing, but training with along with creating video content with competitive lifters. Unless if I heard the podcast Sonny had when he discussed his ban extension wrong, then that may be why we won’t see another Sonny and Craig collaboration for a long time. Again, I hope I’m wrong when I say that.

    I have one simple question.... why is it a MUST that the bar should contact the body during the transition process.?.. this is so difficult and uncomfortable and messes up the whole lift....

  • @hookgrip4jesus310
    @hookgrip4jesus310 Год назад +1

    I’ve been trying to figure out my grip width for the snatch (I’m a long-armed fellow relative to my height) and the 90-degree trick was a really neat idea that I’ve never seen before! Thanks Sonny, you helped me a ton!

    i dont understand why he is starting with the bar at mid foot, but then he pushes the bar. So that means that the bar should be more in front?

    • @Batmanduhh
      @Batmanduhh Год назад +1

      No you start mid foot , so when you squat down , your chin is up against the bar. Mid foot position gives you about a inch of distance from the bar to ur chin standing , & once you squat down you’ll be skinning it or touching it barely.
      You want to keep the bar as close to your body as possible, guarantee center of gravity and prevent injuries.
