They came Once to Here to, Bedford Mass. Stayed overnite and Thrilled our Town all that next Day as each section Practiced... Playing Beach-Boy Numbers... Great Memories.. Many Thanks " VK ".........
Thanks for posting this. 1987 was a great year for drum corps, and VK was always a favorite of mine. The only problem is that I couldn't take my eyes off the cymbal line long enough to appreciate so much talent and fun going on elsewhere!
This is great! This was opening night that year. Two week earlier, the staff gave us an entire new drill (Bobby Hoffman had just come aboard) and it had been a sprint to the starting line. BTW, we were f-ing loud that night (and, I hope, every night). Funny that we didn't even have hats yet…typical VK. Thanks for digging this up and posting it.
Hey Dan, I thought the corp was gonna fold when they came in and said they're changing everything, in MAY!! I couldn't believe how much the show changed from this opening show at RCC to the finals I've watched like 1,000 times. I only marched this one year, and it looks like that was the year to March VK. Lots of great memories and of course some not so great ones (like the peanut butter and bees from the roach coach!). Do a show, cram yourself in a bus for 6 hours, wake up in a gym, repeat! BTW, this is Rich Morgan, I played 3rd Soprano
Just a reminder that The Bridgemen was the first showman ship corp to step out on the field don't forget that and, had the best Drumline in the business
The announcer said that the same guy that ran the Bridgemen ran VK. VK was clearly continuing the Bridgemen legacy. The Bridgemen were a stronger contender in their day. They were cleaner. But, this video was clearly early season. I've seen some pretty dirty early season performances from the Blue Devils in this era, too.
CYMBALS ROCK 😎
My first year on tour was 1976 with the Velvet Knights. We had an all girl cymbal line made up of me, Lori and Susan.

I saw this at DCI in Bettendorf, IA! Very memorable!
Could you imagine this show in 2020? No way it could happen.
I think DCI needs the Velvet Knights.....now.
2ToyBoys drum corps would know what hit them!!

Hey Daniel.......I remember the new drill we had to learn after the BIG change that was a GREAT summer!!! Hope your well!
We need music to get our minds occupied. VK is fun and recommend for music that people can know.
ABSOLUTELY
