Interesting Mike didn't know Eugene but really enjoyed the experience. Would love for Mike/RP to train some obnoxious, not-so-science-based influencers, and see how *that* goes.
For a guy who wasn't familiar with GM's, he did excellent! I normally only ever saw women take to GM's like that due to hip position and flexibility by comparison to men. That's a testament to the degree of overall fitness and mobility he has. I can remember when I started doing GM's, just introducing them into my routine caused my plateau'd deadlift max to jump 60 lbs over the course of 3 months due to having discovered the weak link in my pulling.
Locking out can increase tendon and ligament strength. If you started training locking out and have been doing it your entire time exercising then locking out will almost never cause an injury unless the load is WAY to high.
Oh man Dr. Mike, that wigs me out you locking out your legs on the leg press. I have personally seen my friend lock his legs out and the weight snapped them backwards so hard they spun completely around and physically turned his knee joints into knots. I have also been affected by the fear of locking out on the leg press. As a gym noob (only six months so far), I try to not fully lock out, but I realize now that this fear might be overblown by social media. I mean, I lock out my legs underneath my body weight all the time (and I am heavy). Also when squatting with my body weight + 60 kg do I lock out my legs, so it doesn't really make sense. The biggest thing to be aware of, I guess, is that you don't get some kind of twisting motion or weird angles for your knees, but that goes for everyday usage of the same joints.

It's hard to understand because if you say, squat heavy, you feel safe and strong in a locked out position, but if you remember that the leg press allows for some extreme weights you would never squat, it makes sense.
The angle on the leg press doesn't put 100% of the weight on your legs since gravity acts in a downward force. That's why you can leg press a ton
I’d also add if you’re using a full ROM like these lads and trying to stretch and toast your quads, then you’ll be using *significantly* less weight than the average leg-presser who strives to load as many plates as they can then proceeds to move the sled 6-12 inches down and back up again.
