  • We build a new pig waterer since our old tire methods is not doing well. The pigs continue to make a mess and dump their water out forcing us to fill it up several times a day in this hot weather. Now that this project is over its time for us to get to the mountains for some play time. We head up to Darby Canyon and spend some time with family from out of town.

How can you keep this from freezing?

It would take a lot. So far, we just buy pigs in spring and sell before it freezes. In the past when we have had pigs through the winter we have just used a short trough. It works in the winter because it's cold they don't try to get in the water. This one works better in the summer as it keeps them from wallowing in their drinking water.

    How do you clean it

We just unscrew the nipple when we need to flush it. Since it's not transparent, nothing grows inside, and it stays quite clean. I have never had to actually clean it but have had to unclog the nipple from the pigs making a mess of it.
