Kung Pow! Enter the Fist is a 2002 American martial arts comedy film that parodies Hong Kong action cinema. Written, directed by and starring Steve Oedekerk, it uses footage from the 1976 Hong Kong martial arts film Tiger & Crane Fists (also called Savage Killers), along with new footage shot by Oedekerk, to create an original, unrelated plot.

Me and my buddies quote this movie all the time. We actually derailed a couple D&D sessions by going from quoting to reenacting whole bits we had to limit how often we quoted it 😂

Nah, 95% of this movie is trash with 5% gold lmao.
The whole movie is so quotable. Just the other day when gaming the line "that's right, follow me, right into my trap" came up in my subconscious lol
"You go this way; I'll go home" is a line I still use whenever I brief new workers at my job since I tend to do so at the end of my shift.
When I worked at Taco Bell, I would sing "Taco Bell, Taco Bell, I'm an employee at Taco Bell!"

Fun Fact: To create the effect of bad dubbing, writer Steve Oedekerk wrote a script of nonsensical dialogue for the actors to say. The real dialogue was dubbed during post-production. For example, when Chosen One says, "But, isn't Betty a woman's name?" If you read his lips, he says, "But, isn't Yahtzee a family game?"
The single best one was "I implore you to reconsider" delivered flatly dubbed over an intensely-emotive "I'M SOMEBODY'S MOMMY!"
"Isnt Betty a Womans Name" = "Isnt Trouble a Family Game"
And the DVD still has that as a language option

Kung Pow is a classic. I've always loved this movie. So many quotable lines.
1) "I implore you to reconsider."
2) "Face to foot style, how'd you like it?"

5) "My nose is bleeding. Making me the victor."
The Taco Bell product placement is legitimately something I still think about years later.

Half way through the video I was worried it would be a movie he thinks really drops off later in the movie.
One of my favorite Nostalgia Critic reviews is CONGO Now anyone who's a fan of The Nostalgia Critic knows that Doug INFAMOUSLY HATES CONGO. I think Doug was WAY OFF ON CONGO in his review But like I said he's FUNNIEST when he HATES something even if I disagree with his opinion

Almost every time someone complains to me "Oh man this shitty thing happened to me blah blah..and it sucked" I will hear in my head "Should have gone with A!"
The DVD of this movie is GOLD. It was the first DVD I ever remember exploring every nook and cranny of for extras. What's REALLY fun is doing a double feature of Tiger and Crane Fists and Kung Pow. It's beyond surreal, especially considering how out-of-order the footage Kung Pow used actually is.

I was at the Renaissance Faire and this dude says to this snack stand guy "I'll take a pound of nuts please" and his buddy next to him giggles. Then I take a deep breath and roar as loud as I can "THATS A LOTTA NUTS!" and at least 20 dudes within earshot start laughing. Everyone loves this movie, I'm sure of it.

The number of lines that have lived on in my house for the last 20 years is ridiculous and I love that it's getting some love here.

The one joke that really stuck with me since childhood was when the bad guy changed his name to Betty for no reason
The funniest part? Real life martial arts schools actually did that to prospective students they considered unworthy.

Ironically while this movie feels like a RUclips parody poop with a budget, it's by far the funniest in the moments which didn't require a budget. The scenes and jokes requiring "special effects" with the cow or aliens are kind of "eh". The ones which just involve immature goofing around are hilarious. The utterly ridiculous lines like
"I implore you to reconsider",
"I don't like him. Let's kill him",
"Welcome Master Pain, it's an honour having you beating random people at our town",
"He's an idiot. We trained him wrong as a joke",
the guy nodding yes but saying "No. I do not understand"
or the girl and the villain just making silly noises at each other - are the highlights of the movie.
This is one the goofiest movies I can think of but this is what it was supposed to be and it works.

I wish they made a sequel, with the chosen one fighting off the farm animals. That was great, with him saying, "I see you brought your friends this time."
New headcanon: This movie is the prequel to Nickelodeon's classic _Barnyard_ where the animals defeated the Chosen One and are now hiding in plain sight acting as regular animals.

Been waiting a long time for this. Before I watch, I will say that for me and my wife as a couple, this is the perfect intersection of our humor. Nothing was funnier than watching people leave the theatre as we cackled hysterically. This film is for a very weird crowd, and I count myself among them.

This comedy was ahead of its time.

My brother and I quote this movie on a weekly basis. It was our favorite growing up. Still love the line, “you go this way, I’ll go home” and when Ling kept saying “wee-ooh wee-ooh” and “wegh”.
First saw this as a teen. The first movie that made my jaws hurt from laughing. The baby down cliff intro, "I don't know", "THAT'LL BE FOUR BUCKS BABY!!!", "weeeoooo", "Your suit is red...", so many stupid quotes in this movie that's still stuck to me to this day.
Honestly, this one needs a first viewing with Doug and Rob because I can picture some of the commentary being stunning.

I feel bad for the Oedenkerk Brothers. Steve made this hilarious cult classic that critics pooped on and Bob poured his heart into Better Call Saul and got snubbed to all hell at the awards shows.
I understand why a lot of critics were really serious about this movie. I realize why it got so many negative reviews. But this is one of those movies you just turn your brain off and watch. You're not looking for a storyline, you're not looking for serious content. This just gave homage to all the bad Kung Fu flicks we watched growing up and still watch to this day. I can almost quote this movie word for word. If I get around the right people, I could definitely quote it word for word.
I think the narration helps a lot. Some of the funniest lines are from the narrator.

I remember long ago actually watching "Tiger & Crane Fists" On RUclips. (The film Kung Pow lifted most of its footage from) And within the comments, people were putting time stamps and quoting lines from Kung Pow within certain scenes which gives you an idea of how memorable and Iconic that film was despite it being a parody.
Little detail i found hilarious is that even the dog is dubbed

Definitely hold more a personal love for this movie because my dad and I watched it together and don't think any movie made us laugh so hard like this one.
I LOVED this movie as a kid - watched it dozens upon dozens of times with my friend and forced my sisters to watch it too. So happy to see reactions to things that didn't exist with RUclips.

I've *ALWAYS* loved this movie, showed it to all my friends and all loved it too, we constantly quote it
There are many funny lines in this movie; but, my favorite one is when Betty arrives in town and they're looking for the Chosen One and you can hear one guy in the background saying, "Hey guys, what's going on?!"
Mine might be the scene with a seemingly long explanation and then all you hear is "I dun know."
After that, we see him get beat up.

I'm convinced that the Zucker brothers and Jim Abrahams could've done the cow bit justice, in pre-CGI day no less. I don't know how but based on their Swedish bookstore, underwater saloon fight and cow disguise bits from Top Secrets, they would find a way.
Also, Oedekerk looks like Kevin Nealon and I don't know what to do with that information.
When a product placement still comes to mind all these years later when someone just asks if I would like some Taco Bell, you did good.

This hurts now.
This movie just hit home for me because it was the first time my dad and I shared a love for silly af comedy. My dad was a medical professional and rarely showed that silly side of him but with this movie, it got unhinged! He loved that I loved it so much that he would replay it a ton just so we could spend time laughing and quoting it.
Sure that makes me biased towards the movie but hey. I appreciate it, what can I say?

The taco bell placement song, the radio shack line, "you go this way, I go home," and "we trained him wrong, as a joke." I have used religiously for years.

Incidentally, *all* of the dialogue (except for "Whoa", the one-breasted woman) is done by Oedekerk himself. The initial plan was to have a bunch of people doing the dub, but after he recorded some placeholder audio for Master Pain and Ling, they decided that was *way* funnier.
Also, that scene at 8:30 is precisely why the producers picked the movie for it, too!
Even Ling? I thought that was Miss Piggy’s voice.
