Chino Hills State Park: Hiking the Bane Ridge Trail & Wildflowers
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 8 сен 2024
- Chino Hills State Park is one of the best areas near Los Angeles for wildflowers in the spring. The park has 14,000 acres and miles and miles of hiking trails. I went to explore the Bane Ridge Trail to the Sidewinder Trail in mid March and saw some wildflowers on the trail. It was a beautiful day hiking 4.5 miles through the park and seeing the green grassy hills. Let me know what you think in the comments.

I like what you said about park fees being vital for maintaining the park grounds, Its really important to maintain these grounds for current and future generations. Good show.
Yea, I agree. So many amazing places are being preserved in the state park system and I hope they continue to be.
That’s wild, I started looking for info this morning as I’m on vacation in Riverside ,coming over from the UK , I’m looking for a trail run and this looks perfect, I’ve only just started viewing your channel ,thanks for your video, I’m sold!
Another place to explore or start/stop your run is Carbon Canyon, on the south east end of the park where there's pay safe parking and a nature center.
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it. Mt Rubidoux is a good spot for a workout if you want some elevation and it is paved too. I made a video on Riverside here if it helps ruclips.net/video/j8eFQPuWPh4/видео.html
@@californiathroughmylens From Riverside here. Was just about to recommend Mount Rubidoux! Lol
Here's a detailed video on Mount Rubidoux in Riverside. Enjoy your stay out here!
ruclips.net/video/A_GY8FXG6M0/видео.html
@@hersh23 Don’t recommend Mount Rubidoux to foreigners please. They’re gonna see the cross and wonder why California is so religious without knowing its history. Then they’re gonna wanna take it down.
We love Chino Hills SP! We've mostly explored the southern part (South Ridge, Telegraph Canyon, Diemer trails, etc.) Sycamore Trail has great views if you're in the mood for an elevation climb. Maybe we'll get more flowers after the rain tomorrow haha
Definitely best in the spring since there's so little shade. We went in October once and it was kinda a cool, spooky vibe for Halloween with all the dried vegetation. But it was also 90 degrees and kinda brutal haha
I will have to check out the south section! I agree it would be way to warm in the summer with no shade haha
You can really see all of MT Baldy far away from the distance from chino hills state park while hiking but I would love to go hiking there because it’s so fun.
Just flat out beauty!!
Josh... you and I totally think alike... we love the Bane Ridge Trail AND Roll em up Taquitos afterwards! :)
“Into the thick of it,” is what I hummed every times I go there 😂😂😂
haha!
Beautiful way to spend a morning.
Great video
The Chino Hills State Park is my parents' backyard neighbor. How nostalgic. Thanks for the beautiful video!
Congratulations on being a father! Love your videos.
We love CHSP. We hiked this last spring and it was gorgeous.
I’m here almost every morning!! This is exciting you came here😁
Thats a great spot to spend the morning!
What a lovely hike! Thanks for sharing.
No problem!
Great nature, and scenery. Weather looks perfect. I will definitely visit and do some hiking and biking.
Good sights and sounds.
Glad you liked it, I hope you enjoy it if you go!
I have an Aunt in Yorba Linda and California has to be maybe one of the most beautiful places I've been 💕 I love the snowy mountains 💕 love from Massachusetts
So awesome! I want to visit Massachusetts one of these days!
Been here a few times, during the 'super bloom' a few years ago it was packed with wildflowers. A hidden gem in general.
I went during a pretty good year and the wildflowers were awesome, I can't imagine during a superbloom
I love this park! Used to do cross country runs there.
Beautiful
Thanks for the video. Hiking this next month & can’t wait.
Hope you enjoy it!
I like that open and expansive view
Yea, it was really pretty!
Pretty place to spend a Sunday.
Agreed!
Glad you enjoyed our city
It was a great visit, would love to spend more time there
Very pretty and very peaceful. All Trails is such a useful app. $10 or 2 miles…that’s a tough decision to make. I guess the weather and time of day would matter!
haha yea, when it is warm 2 miles seems like an eternity haha
Going here this Friday. Very excited but nervous it would be packed
Great video! Love the wildflowers! So pretty! We enjoy watching our fellow you tubers!!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching the video!
Beautiful upload bud, so nicely edited. Gorgeous place and beautiful weather, perfect way to walk around and explore.
What a great hiking spot! It looks well maintained (thanks to those who pay the entrance fee). The flowers remind me of some here in Arizona:)
Yea, it was really pretty and really well maintained
Thanks for the video! I live in Claremont, so I hike in our Wilderness Park regularly, but haven't ever been to Chino Hills SP. I'll definitely check it out!
Josh, this is the EXACT trail that I've done there every spring since 2017! :-)
Oh wow that is awesome! I bet you have seen some great blooms!
I've camped there. It's 40 dollars a night. There's a much needed locked gate to keep the riff raff out. Campers get the password to open the gate. Amazing thing is the campground is quiet at night despite being surrounded be major freeways. I was camp there a few years ago when they had a "superbliom" of wildflowers. Never heard so many coyotes at night as here.
7:27. The campground is in the left side of this frame - up a hill.
I'm going to give Rollemup Taquitos a try.
Oh wow, that sounds like an amazing spot to camp!
@@californiathroughmylens Only some of the campsites don't have much if any shade.
Thanks a lot grest video 👍💯
No problem!
Hi!! I was part of the hiking group you saw that day! That was a beautiful day in the park! Great video! They usually open the gate at 8:00. We wanted to drive in but ended up walking in. Roll em up is 💯🔥
So awesome! I am glad you got to experience the beautiful trail on the same day!
This is so wild! I was just about to hike here with my family yesterday, but chose an easier area closer to my home. Didn't realize I could have run into you!
haha, yea it was a nice place to hike for sure! I hope you enjoy it if you go one of these days!
Went to the Antelope Valley Poppy Preserve today and there were a decent amount of poppies and other wildflowers. I wanna check out this spot as well!
That's awesome! I went a couple years ago and it was amazing but I haven't been this year
that elote! i need to stop by that store
Never heard of this place even tho I have good friends who used to live in chino hills but moved to Ontario. Good to know
Yea, I have only hiked here once before as well. I see it when driving on the 91 sometimes but often forget about it
Yes that is last years mustard seed
I’ve been hiking out there for over 50 years. It was much better when cattle grazed in the hills they keep the hills from getting over grown.
There are a couple natural springs in the bottom of canyons that flow year round but there is no access to them for many years because it’s all overgrown because no cattle which always would go there for a drink. There also are some caves on the far end of the park by the golf course of Green River it is beautiful in the spring but a lot of rattlesnakes with the overgrowth
Oh my god, that’s amazing! I’ve hiked there before and right now I’m currently in Yosemite National park, and btw that place u ate at, in the end of the video, I live a few streets down from there!! Would be amazing meeting u one day 😎 I live in chino hills btw
Poppies are needed to make morphine. No wonder Josh misses the Poppies on this hike. We're onto you Josh!! 😀
😂😂😂
Wow it's beautiful! I never knew about this spot. I'm dying to get out into the hills and see some of the blooms, but I think I'm too far north 😭
The rolling hills there are nice. Reminds me of a the old default Windows Xp wallpaper lmao
haha it really does!
I like your channel! Just discovered it.
I was wondering when you were going to start throwing dad jokes 😂 Great video Josh!
haha I couldn't resist
Great video!
Thanks!
@@californiathroughmylens you're welcome
You should have waited till April . that when it looks beautiful .
Roll-em up taquitos are bomb.
So good!
We live in this city and often hike this park. There’s a lot of trails in this park all depends on your level. The city of Chino Hills used to have a hiking club that sets up hikes all over the city. Hopefully they will bring this project back.
I need to check out more of the trails in the park!
Yum
QUestion : in google it says the parks is closed by 5 pm. Could you park outside and go with your bike inside the park? 5pm it's too early , sunset is now at 8pm
Great video as always. Your photographer is always great and I love how informative the videos are. Makes visiting these areas a lot less intimidating. I grew up not far from Chino Hills and never knew this existed! Definitely gotta add it to my list. It seems like we have an endless amount of nature to explore in CA.
Unrelated to this video but have you made a trip to Hite Cove Trail before? I've been wanting to make a trip up there (possibly as an add on to my next Yosemite trip) as all the photos I've seen of the trail look amazing but I would appreciate seeing your thoughts on the location and if it's worth the visit?
Hot Cheeto dust on corn on the cob? I'm going to have to try that. 😁🤙
How can that be bad right?
@@californiathroughmylens I know right. I need to try this.
Wow I live 20 minutes from here and never knew this existed 😂
Nice place! Yes, electric humming noise=creepy.
haha I am glad you agree!
To reach bane ridge trail head, is it somewhere in middle after you drive in?
Congratulations on becoming a new dad!
Hey, thanks! I appreciate that!
@@californiathroughmylens absolutely. I’m going up to Burney falls on Wed from San Diego. Looking forward to seeing the sights.
Great video. Lots of rattle snakes in chsp .not to mention a mountain lion near the old ranch house area.
The fee pays for the state workers Pensions . Ask the park rangers..
Trust me newscum doesn't need any more money.
👍 for the Dad joke! 😅
haha glad you liked it 😂
you sound like the guy from swamp stories lol
No it's not just you.
Rattlesnakes ?
Umm, Chino hills is Southern California not northern.
I live local. We really like Chino Hills for hiking and biking. You can see a super bloom here from a few years ago. ruclips.net/video/GiOul0FNHns/видео.html
Thanks for sharing the video, so beautiful!
No dogs!? Lame…
