I literally JUST came home from walking the Old Cove Landing and Ohlone Bluff trails this morning, turned on RUclips, and saw this! 🌼🙂 Wilder Ranch is a great place! 🌼🌼🌼

Santa Cruz is beautiful. I’ve not spent enough time exploring there. The bluff hike reminds me a bit of Montana de oro state park bluff trail. Or the bluff trail just north or cayucos. CA has some amazing coastal views

What a lovely hike with so much to stop and offer along the way! Really got to love something like that with history injected into it.. and animals! 😄 The view of the coast is pretty spectacular too! Hard to imagine sailing ships there. Bet that was a sight in the day!

When our kids were young, we took them on a tour of the Wilder Ranch. It was awesome. We really enjoyed it. So good to see the park again! I loved the ranch house. The son made a way for his mother to open the back door with her foot on a button outside the house. It was really cool. Thanks for sharing this park.

This is a great time to walk the coast at Wilder. Pumpkins in the fields. If time, go all the way to 4 mile beach. A fav view is to see the surfers with boards running thru the artichoke fields in their wet suits to get to coast to catch the waves.

My most vivid California memories are in SC & monterrey County to witness the butterfly migration that usually at its peak between halloween and Thanksgiving... best family days ever when my son was a baby was in the butterfly groves!!
    Great footage as always!

When you live in California, anything below 65 degrees is cold 🥶 that’s sweater weather alright! 😁

I agree. 84 degrees all day every day. But we do need some rain!

The Red 1923 McCormick Deering Tractor I donated to the park in 1994. At the time it ran like new and painted bright red. I need to take a trip from my home in Springfield, Oregon and go down there and see if I can start it. That would be a thrill.

The tree at 2:10 looks like a Cypress. Your newer progression of videos are more subtle balanced and smooth; not too much, not too little.

Fern grotto, great picnic spot, not too much wind, tide out, go into the cave. Sometimes naked sun bathers.
Sometimes a hobo camping in the brambles above nearby.
Nice cove to get in the water, but it gets deep quickly, churning water!
Inland from the farm nice hill hikes, good place to mountain bike.
Check state park website for docent tours, open house events, gift shop hours (usually weekends only). Milking barn extends/spans the creek.
Apple trees plentiful in the fall, summer blackberries along the hill to the homestead. Great place for children to run, bike, picnic by the homestead.
Stay away from the bluff edges! They are crumbling, and under cut!
Weekends are busy, be there at opening time. Mid week very peaceful. Buy an annual park state pass, save $$$! One of the best not super busy state parks!

All of the norcal coastline has a very short period of good weather to hike. Most of the year it's all clouds and sea fog.

I rode mt. bikes there, you only hiked a fraction of the coast trail.
Also the bulk of the trails in the park are on the east side of coast highway.

I live near that place but I've never stop by to hike. I always go to either Panther Beach or shark fin cove. Everyone knows about shark fin cove because of all the Instagram post but just 2 mins south is Panther Beach which is bigger. It's actually 2 beaches that are divided by a tall cliff. The only way you can go to the other part of the beach is when it's low tide and you can walk through a arch/ hole in the wall. Also you can walk on top of the wall that divides the beaches and get some cool views with cliffs on both sides.

That's one thing about NorCal coastline. It is cold and foggy. Bring a sweatshirt next time that says "Through my lens". Free advertising.

Is this hike flat? I can’t do incline.

    • @petehagen8638
      @petehagen8638 3 года назад

Yes, it's flat. The Old Cove Landing Trail is accessible for both young and old. The trail is only about 2 miles in length.
