KZ doesn’t speak Mandarin (a Chinese language.. or is it a dialect?). She learned the lyrics, studied the proper pronunciation, and managed to interpret this medley of Chinese songs with so much emotion and conviction, all in a space of a week or so. So what you both say about her ears being so tuned is a great observation!🙌🏽
Btw, your intro song is lovely. And the way you sang (and harmonized) the last phrase-short, ie not sustained, coupled with that gentleness-is so pretty 😍

ALL KZ performances are amazing and one of a kind but I would put this one at the very top. I was so moved by this performance the first time I heard it and I am Chinese!
When I looked into and found out how much KZ had put into this song, her background...the respect factor went way up for me.
Watching your reaction even years after she gave this performance, brings me back to that moment I heard her sing this for the first time and the tears started welling up in my eyes all over again.

This song still makes me cry after all these years. Gosh. KZ did an excellent way to deliver the pain even tho we didn't understand at all.

The first time I heard this I cried even if I don't understand the lyrics. The tone and how KZ skillfully delivers the song is just perfect.
KZ belongs to global music history. Non-mandarin speaker, but sings with ease, hails afar southeast asia and multi-lingual artist.
KZ actually combined three different Chinese song and learn the song and how to speak Chinese in less than two weeks.
She just fell in love with the song the first time she heard it playing while she is in China for the contest. And it was far from the original. She sang it with so much heart. Ang galing galing mo talaga KC gurl ♥️
She's expressive because she knows the song meaning it is because her team translated it on bisaya (local ph dialect) thats why she put that emotions on her performance with this
Check her rendition of "see you again" in the same platform, where she rapped both in English and mandarin languages. SHE is a dope artist!
She and many of us don't speak Chinese but we well understood the song thru her rendition. She didn't win this round of the competition.... But she won our hearts.
