    Realizing that I am not my thoughts - that I don't need to listen to them, that I can simply observe them - is one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. My mind used to keep me miserable, worried, angry - every single day. After practicing Eckhart's teachings I now only feel that way sometimes, and even then I have a way out. I now realize that I create my own suffering, and that I can stop doing this any time I choose. I can accept this very moment as it is and stop producing needless suffering. The past has loads of regret, resentment. The future holds so much fear, worry. But Now everything is OK. And Now IS everything.

      Mindfulness is another term for Presence. Eckhart uses that word very occasionally because the word mindfulness is not the right word. Presence is beyond the mind and therefore there's no such thing as mindfulness or mindful moments.

      @@nothingreallyexists7580 it's funny because he says mindfulness isn't the right word it should be mine emptiness because the mind isn't actually full. I'm sure his exact words were much funnier.

    I'm glad this kind of insight is becoming more commonly known. I learned mindfulness a few years back and I have to admit it is still a challenge, but it's also invaluable. I still have some very negative thought habits but I think they would be even more of a problem if I didn't have mindfulness techniques. I get very judgmental of people sometimes, especially in high-pressure and high-demand situations, but it's a relief to be able to see what I am doing, and be open to either a different point of view or to neutrality.

    • @johngreen4683
      @johngreen4683 Год назад +2

      Positive or negative its still self talk, its better to remain neutral in my opinion and keep yourself and your minds thoughts fears opinions and ideas very separate. Our negative minds fear the worst, our positive mindset tells us how wonderful everything is going to be, but in reality neither our positive or negative thoughts know anything more about the future than we ourselves do.
      Accepting what is, Trusting that what ever happens everything will be more than ok and simply being Grateful for everything, is the best recipe i know. Acceptance, Trust and Gratitude remove the need to think about anything you don't want to think about and gives you the freedom and peace to get on with enjoying your life, happiness and peace with your mind. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

    Buddha mentions 4 pillars of mindfulness: the body, the feelings, the mind and the objects of mind. Being mindful of the body is the easier one- for me at least- and I take it as the most efficient ground to practice the other 3 pillars. Breathing is part of the body and, by being mindful of the body parts, movements, positions and so forth together with the breathing, is the basis to practice mindfulness of thoughts. Otherwise we get easily carried away by the thoughts and emotions...

    The self-talk can become ridiculous. I meditate daily. Sometimes, just thinking about what you are thinking about brings you back to the fact that you are creating a false reality simply through your thoughts and allowing them to continue.

Quite funny to look back at it and yeah that is all it is. Hehe quite fascinating.😂✨

    There are no thoughts that need to be thought about,, just the same as there are no movies that need to be watched or books that need to be read. There are thoughts, movies and book books that support your peace and happiness and i can think of no reason not to enjoy them fully, and equally there are thoughts movies and books that will steal and cheat you out of your peace and happiness and i can think of no logical reason why you would want to engage with them. 🙏🙏🙏

    I guess you could call that a form of mindfulness, but it's quite different from typical mindfulness. This is a type of awareness you could employ in any situation, doing something else. Mindfulness is more about giving all your attention (i.e. awareness) to the single thing you are doing.
    In a sense, what Eckhart describes here isn't mindfulness at all, because it encourages distributing your awareness over different areas.

    • @johngreen4683
      @johngreen4683 Год назад

      I agree, mindfulness and living in the present moment is a useful tool to use when overwhelmed by thoughts but for me its a pretty boring way of living,. I love using my imagination myself but i don't enjoy my mind using my imagination for me and for personally the secret to happiness was being able to separate myself from my minds thoughts fears and imaginary stories. The minds stories are totally harmless if we remember both that they belong to the mind and not us plus no matter what they are only stories that like Harry Potter and ET and are not to be taken as reality 👍👍👍🙏
