When the guard grab his arm and the youngster threw his right arm towards the guard neck area that became a sign of aggression from the inmate. Now it potentially could've been handled better. As a Correctional Sergeant I can tell you first hand what is like when you give orders and go to restrain a inmate and that individual takes off swinging at you, at that point it becomes my safety over their rights. In the end they are none law abiding citizens as said so by a state judge. Watch the video again at 0:39 and slow it down. Unless you have been in that situation you won't fully understand it. Split second decisions. Had that youngster lay down on the ground it would have been all over. Anything the guard would do after that would have completely been his fault.
I was a CO. It's hard to see but the Officer put his left hand on the inmate. Then the inmate swatted at the CO with his right hand. At that point, it's over for you. It's an assault and until backup arrives we are scrapping. You don't get to negotiate once you are in prison.
A beating? There were only a few punches thrown...😅
You have to understand how many of these punks go in to jail thinking their the top dog. He found out real quick is all.

The guard clearly started throwing punches so I'm not seeing how anybody could watch that and say he wasn't just defending himself. That being said I don't really have much sympathy for punks in jail. Don't commit crimes and go to jail and this clearly will never happen to you.
He could have just covered and made his complaint later. Instead he chose to punch back engaging in a mutual fight that any reasonable person should know he wasn't going to win.

hes a criminal and got exactly what he asked for. he was told to be quiet multiple times and he didnt do that. id charge him with multiple counts of assaulting an officer because several were involved. dont like it ? then you should have never went to jail !!

This has been a problem for years back in 2010 I heard about the guards using torture tactics parading them around undressed cause one of the inmates made an admitting inappropriate comment about a female guard he definitely shouldn't have said that but it doesn't justify torture

I see absolutely nothing wrong with this…the inmate should of compiled with staffs orders when he was told…the inmate then resisted the offers attempt to escort him and took an aggressive stance…the end.

Lemme tell you from first hand experience in the 90's... This was nothing, but you didn't have people mouthing off to the guards like they do today... Unless they have cameras in every cell and every closet, and bodycams... Everyone can be assured this kid is going to get all sorts of messed up... But, those who have been to floors / tanks / cells probably already know that... Still, I am sure it is a MUCH better place than 1301 Franklin was back then.. Doonie Squads..

After the sweat shirt was grabbed, you can see the person in custody take a swing at the guards face. That's when the guard fought back. 😂

Dont continue talking when the CO confronts you, walking toward you, and telling you to stop.

Dont roll your shoulder to break the CO's grip after the CO places his hand on you to physically restrain you after you failed to heed multiple warnings.

I could go on. Clear you two fools see these two as equals, which is a mistake. They are not. One is the authority and one is the convict.

1) He will be fired.

Drop the charges, the inmate didn't start the confrontation, and any blows made by the inmate were in self-defense.

the officer should get a charge of" assaults' in the 2d degree against a protected person, " which is a felony in texas aswell as moststates,. all inmates are considered "in custodial care" and are thus protected persons., USD titles 18 protects persons in custody of state entities ;.,
