  • Introduction to a new SketchUp Extension (under development) for tracking products in new construction and remodeling, auto-generating room by room Storyboards (great for interior designers!) and features a dashboard showing the status of all selections (selected, ordered, etc.).
Looking for feedback before we launch the extension.

Great work again John. I have a feeling you know about a program called FileMaker. We used to create databases like what you’re showing, where all selections are linked by drop downs, even profiles, and you could build new rooms the same way as you show. Then we printed out Room Schedules as part of too the CD package. Each room would list everything that was in it just as you show. The difference is that you’re in SketchUp, which is amazing.

Thanks Douglas! I have not heard about FileMaker but will check it out

John, love this. I don't always need this functionality but know many that would. Maybe this is off-topic but we are modeling spaces so it would seem that if a client picked a Kohler sink, that there was already a library .sku model of that sink that would be imported as a component for placement during the modeling phase. Thus the selected items also have a matching SKU model.
Also wondering about the storyboard. Is that layout going to be adaptable to a users branding and presentation styles?

Thank you! I agree with you on the SU component with real-world matching SKU, etc., but until manufacturers get on board and offer 3D models of their products, we have to do it ourselves! Regarding the storyboards, they are done using Layout and I hope to offer an export to Layout feature, where you can customize it further (still working on that idea :)

Looks great as always. Put this on my list like all your others. Is this a separate extension or part of Estimator for Sketchup? Where can we find it?

Thanks! This will be a separate extension and will be on our website when it is ready

This looks absolutely brilliant! any improvements i can think of would be colour coding on the status

Thanks! We actually do have the status color coded in the dashboard - Red (needs selection) Orange (Selected) Yellow (ordered), light green (received) and green (installed)

How much is it going to cost? Is it subscription-based or one-time payment?
