+ruby jane I wish I did, I keep praying for the holy spirit to speak into my heart to see the true beauty of Christ. I know it's real as I see this joy in people worshipping at my Church and I can tell it's a miracle of the spirit allowing them to feel this joy and emotion. I can only think that God is leading me through a period of spiritual barrenness/dryness to strengthen my dependence on him. My house-mate (I'm a student at uni and all my house-mates are Christian girls too) said that's what it was. I just keep holding onto the verse Matthew 7:7 '"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.' Praying for the day God opens the door and shows me the beauty of Jesus in a way that speaks to my heart and gives me lasting joy.
+sunheart123 Well first start of by imagining him on the cross all beat up and bruised, Standing there you see him gazing at you with the blood dripping from his hands and head. He died for you so that your sins would be washed away. I have a feeling when he reveals himself to you it wil be with so much power you will weep and fall in his presence, For now seek repentance. Be humble and dont stray! He is our only hope.
I just was baptized last week thanks for this videos makes sense how we can't just look at one little verse reading the story well open your eyes up more and your mind to understand the meaning of Gods word thank you again
Well said! Am in a christian university that forces me to take a course in Bible. Well the "Forcing" has been a blessing in disguise... Listening to entire audio Bible chapters has ministered to me more than any church service I have ever attended...Listing to the chapters in whole helps you reflect on the intended meaning..
That is exactly right! I've raised my children who are raising theirs to know that no matter what is happening, God will not abandon us, press on because we have the strength to get through whatever the situation is because of His grace. Thank you again for your insight!
Did you teach them that Thor will protect them from Nature? That Herakles will keep the monsters away? That Horus will always look after them? If not you have not told them the truth.
Oh man this is everything I have been learning this past year. I have been a christian since 1986 and I am just now learning this. The word of God is so beautiful to me. Thanks Brother!!!
I am a race car driver and I have this verse on the back of my car. I truly believe what he said about the athletes and celebrities misinterpreting this verse but I use this verse as not as if put this verse on my car ill win and all that but I use this verse to say to myself and other people that without Christ I wouldn't be given this opportunity to do what I love and since he has given me this opportunity I should go out and make this a ministry. Never mind that, I have to say that your videos are helping me so much Jeff! Thanks
Love ya, man! Really was encouraged in the midst of what's happening - I have been all over and endured much more than most people I know could imagine let alone endure and one thing that is certain is 'God never leaves nor forsakes'... Even when family has died, friends have left, even a spouse has abandoned and destroyed - God never leaves nor forsakes... Yet, we MUST still obey and love and serve and I will continue to do so until the end - Or until I can get out of here as soon as possible. Thank you for your words of encouragement.
no christian should be lead by his/her emotions. most of us have an encounter with God in our low times. and sometimes that makes us feel extra glittery with all the beautiful scriptures, and instead of understand of what God is trying to tell us thru his word. we drift true the message for the pleasures of the heart.
Context is king! The literary, historical, and Biblical context of any passage should not be ignored. Paul said the secret to being content is doing all things in Christ's strength, and that is something we should all strive to do. Thank you for presented this verse in this way.
I love this! Philippians 4:13 is my favorite bible verse! I actually just got it tattooed on my leg last week. For me, it has always been a verse that I turn to during the bad times (as well as the good). The main reason that I wanted the tattoo is so that when I'm struggling, I will see it and remember that God never leaves my side. With His help, I can make it through anything. After watching this video, I love it even more!
YES THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT! ppl treat God like a genie these days. God is not a genie and though I do struggle accepting God's will especially accepting trials, thats what Phil 4:13 is for. Ppl should look at James 1:2-4
You are such an encouragement...the world and worldly people are everyday challenges we have to face and I hope that you Jefferson are inspired and encouraged by the gift God has given you to reach out to so many people in such a way!!
Christ works through you, not the opposite... remember we come to him and he waits for us to do so. Obey the "follow me" verse which means to ask of the Father through Christ, and constantly repent(change your natural ways) pray and help others whilst teaching Christ. The main lesson is that we NEED to change to follow Christ, for natural man is egotistical, not Obedient to GOD, as Christ was and still is.
You are right. Yeshua should not be a "good luck" charm. Way too much paganism in modern Churchianity. I don't think most people even realize how much of Babylon has crept in...CONTEXT is everything. Good stuff!
I was looking for the meaning of Philippians 4:16 it has been on my mind lately and I'm not sure why I don't go to church at all but it's been very heavy on my mind my email is jasonlee311984@gmail.com please let me know what it means thanks
Just before I watched this I was having a text conversation with my wife about some challenges God is laying on me. This is actually the perfect encouragement for what we could be facing as far as ministry and putting our trust in Him. Thank you!
Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. Peter 2:18
Amen! Sometimes, people take one scripture as a means of comfort for themselves, but that scripture is often taken out of context. I have always learned to read what comes before a scripture and what comes after to gain a better understanding of what it means.
It is a very powerful book full of deep and beautiful knowledge that is totally misunderstood by nearly all who place faith in it. People NEED to understand that most of the bible was not meant to be taken litterally. The Bible is sealed with different meanings and as you progress spiritually so you gain an understanding of the truth, and the stories within take on a whole new meaning. Today however people are stuck on the ridiculous stories that are parables that teach moral lessons and are for CHILDREN! II Corinthians 14: But their minds were blinded: For untill this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament: which veil is taken away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.!
This verse alone got me through my grandfather's death I hit rock bottom when he passed away and then I remembered this piece of Scripture, and my life turned around so much I'm so glad I see this verse the same as you :)
Thank you so much for doing these videos! It is the craziest thing; each of your Thursday videos are always about something that had been on my heart that week! They have been such a blessing to me and really shone some light on things I didn't quite understand! God bless you!
I like this, because I can do all things through him, not just being successful but being healthy, living a holy lifestyle, thinking differently, acting differently etc.
Hi, Jefferson.... I'm sure before you were born, some 40 years ago I took only the word 'ALL' and believed God for it's understanding."ALL' does not discriminate, it includes. Only God can guide and allow, in one's faith in that word alone, the permission to do, 'ALL', ' with justification'. 'ALL' 'DOES NOT' EXCLUDE ANYTHING! In the end, God, the maker of 'ALL', will guide you into HIS understanding, which passes 'ALL' understanding...Eccl. 1:17, 18 / Isa. 45:7 / Deut. 32:39/ Jerimiah 42:6....Sin WILL lose it's grip on you!
My brother John m chaisson absolutely loved you teaching and introduce me to your youtube videos. Unfortunately at the age of 46, the most amazing human being I have ever known pass away recently, he would have loved this teaching. He told me you are spot on in your teaching.
WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVE DEAR FRIEND? BECAUSE JESUS CAN WALK ON WATER.. IN FACT HE CAN FLY.. AS HE DID WHEN HE LEFT THE EARTH.. AND HE SAID WE CAN DO GREATER THINGS THAN HE DID! LET'S NOT PUT GOD INTO A BOX, BECAUSE HE REALLY CAN DO ALL THINGS & IN THE LAST DAYS YOU ARE GOING TO SEE THE CHILDREN OF GOD DOING THINGS YOU NEVER EVEN DREAMED TO BE POSSIBLE!
Robin Michel Superman can fly, he has heat vision, can run faster than a speeding bullet, can't be crucified under a yellow sun and that's the weak version. Superman would kick Jesus' ass. lol
I love your perspective on this verse- I definitely agree that most people use it as a good luck charm & don't read in full the entire chapter to receive an in depth understanding- God bless & may He keep using you to share & to provide understanding of His word to the world!!!!!
I've actually done a piece on this in a biblical class I took in high school. My view follows what you said. Before I left for Basic Training I got the verse on my arm. It always made me strong when I was down and struggling. To this day it remains apart of me and the help I was given when at my low. Thank you for this video :)
A few days ago I actually read the verses before 4:13 and was amazed at what I read. I've read it before but then I actually thought about it. No matter what happens in my life - good or bad, I know that Christ is there fore me. He's my strength and I can get through anything because of that. He's my Lord and Saviour. Thanks for making this video. It's really helpful!
Very eye opening! I come across this verse ALL the time on Instagram ,so I finally decided to actually read Philippians 4, and I found that its really about being CONTENT in any situation, and not about God making us rich.🙏
Amen! Your comment reminded me of Tim Tebow's reply to Kurt Warner in an interview (NFL Networl), I'm paraphrasing: "Most people think of it as being able to conquer and do great feats, but it also (mostly) means that we can do the hard things, the suffering, the patience, the loving the unloved, thru Christ who strengthen (enables) us." And I agreed w/him ... and w/you, Jefferson. Thank you. May you continue in Him, full of Him, honoring Him, doing His will, and sharing His truth. Be blessed.
So True is your message. I see the reality of this verse so much in life. The biggest challenge for me was when I was going through a trial with cancer. At that point I only relied on The Lord Presence to get me through it or take me home, my point is that with his presence I was able to accept and deal with the cancer..Oh, by the way I am now going on 8 months cancer free, because it was thy will not mind...
EXACTLY. It's not about success, but rather about having the strength to go through these things, whether good or bad, and not giving up or being discouraged. I can go through all things that God has placed before me because of the strength He gives me.
I agree with you on this verse. We can do all things ( endure trials) through Christ, our strength, because His power (Holy Spirit) indwells within us.
Great word! Jesus is our hope. Any hardship or trial that make come or you are going through just remember that Jesus is our Hope and to give Him praise because He is always working for our good.
My mum has had tumors and major health problems and jesus is there for me and helps me and my family through those times! when you think about how much jesus is there for you and what he did its hard not to love him!
I absolutely agree with you. And it also the verse means to me, I can overcome challenges, storms, and struggles though Christ because he is my strength.
Ty for youre wisdom.Being a father of a special need son and a wife fighting cancer all at the age of 36. Its good to know I'm using that verse correctly.
thank you for bringing a bit of understanding to a youth that has been jaded by a society of unsuredness, hopefully this will raise interest in what love and fellowship is truely about
I am so glad i discovered your channel Jeff! My bible study kind of fell apart and now, i feel like you're my new study buddy! Keep up the great journey that you are helping us along!
Thank you so much for bringing new revelation to this verse. I am dealing with a lot of personal failures. Often, I think we as Christians unintentionally use this verse to beat people over the head who fail to accomplish their goals. I reread the chapter just now and I came to understand that despite success and failure we can still do all things in Christ, because he is our identity. Great video. May God bless you and your family.
Amen Amen Amen. This verse is talking about the strength to live despite knowing that sin and struggles and trials may come our way. They strength refers to the courage that the Holy Spirit gives us to have faith and peace in knowing that nothing can possibly separate us from our loving Father.
Thank you so much for this! I'm going through a rough time right now, for the past few months actually, and you've helped me see that every battle lost is ok, because Jesus got me through it! Thank you!
I wanted to thank you for your video, it was a personal message to me. I have been unemployed and just had what I thought was a lock on a QC Mgr position, and it didn't pan out. Jesus has something better!! And the comfort of these words "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." are amazing! Jesus will lead me and I will remember these words always. Amen. I pray it will do the same for a dear friend who is also in need, with cancer. God bless you my friend, and Shalom.
I was just writing about this verse on my blog, that it's less about having a magic wand to wave over a situation and more about getting through any circumstance (whether triumphant or not) because of the power of Christ and the support of the body of believers he puts around us. It's quite fun to read through the entire chunk of that section, not just the verses around it.
so gooddd!! especially for me, going into exams.. thinking Im gonna pass without 100% effort being put into my work this semester.. i know that through the strength of Jesus, I will get by this. Pass or fail!
I am so happy that I saw this, because I always assumed on the text from the context of Phil 4:13. But since you have mentioned the previous verse along with verse 13, it brings more clarity. Thank you very much for this. Have a blessed day. Blessed
Love you brother. You are such a great encouragement and I'm so thankful that The Lord works through you using RUclips and all this other social media. I hope that this can be an encouragement to you! Keep on doing what you're doing!!!!! Speak the truth.
This is truly confirmation from God! We have a youth gathering at church today, and I was wondering what did I want to impart into my generations minds. And this is the exact scripture I was/am going to use!
I've always used it as something to uplift me like when I just don't think I can go Abby further or hang on I always think of that. That God wouldn't give me more than I can handle and I can do all things through Christ who lifts mgr back up again strengthens me with his promises and words
Awesome, absolutely awesome. Love your practical way of understanding scripture by simply reading waiting upon the spirit and understanding becoming revelation. God bless you
Jeff, you are truly a man after my own heart. What you said about reading the scriptures, the way you put it...I couldn't have articulated it better myself. Simply beautiful. Thank you and God bless you for doing what you do. (Tweet-sized...ha!) ;)
I've seen our national 7s rugby team use this famous context from the bible & they always say it before they start their game. They always say it thinking that GOD will give them victory i mean we can see it that way but only if their faith is invested in GOD. But when you shared this with us, i learnt a whole new lesson today. Thank you my brother for sharing this. God bless
I'm using this verse to help me get to my goal of running my first Marathon as a diabetic, all I want to do is really finish it under 4 hours. I was at my low, but now God is changingfor the better.
My experience when people come to me and say "I'm going to quit smoking", or drugs, and so on; what comes to my mind is that they are actually saying "I don't need God, I can do it in my own strength". When they have failed and come back, then I have used this scripture to suggest that when we come before His Throne for judgement,we want to believe that He is all in all.
Get it! thats soo good! we often twist the word to make it convenient for us, when in reality the actual meaning is so much better than what we twist and settle for!
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (August 2) I attended worship at a local Presbyterian Church. The Scripture of the Day was Philippians 4:4-13. The pastor's sermon was entitled "Why God Could Use a Person Like Paul."
Ive actually always have thought of it in the way you explained But also keep in mind that yes, God is our light and gives us strength to get through hard times, but it can also be that he is giving us strength to achieve something. Love the videos Jeff! -Sincerely, Your 19 year old viewer from Puerto Rico
You are so right! I'll be honest, I tend to read the bible when I'm having a hard time but I am trying my best to read the bible everyday and to strengthen my faith. Thank you for this video. :)
The beautiful truth of Jesus makes my eyes watery and I often cry when I pray. Does anyone else feel this?
+ruby jane I wish I did, I keep praying for the holy spirit to speak into my heart to see the true beauty of Christ. Lil Gem don't pray to the Spirit, pray for it. it's in us.
The more you seek Him, (read His word and pray )the more you will be in awe of Him! And then the tears will flow
I feel it. I feel Gods love so much when i just think of Him. He is there for me always. Thats when u have a very intimate relationship with Him
Amen! I suffer from depression and when I am at my lowest it is this piece of scripture that helps me through.

I wish you and your family the best! I hope you will find the strength you need in Christ.
Another way to say it... "I can ENDURE all things through Christ who gives me strength". Thanks for the great interpretation!
I am so glad i discovered your channel Jeff! My bible study kind of fell apart and now, i feel like you're my new study buddy! Keep up the great journey that you are helping us along!
Never thought of the book to be so beautifully written with different ways of getting the point across. Very cool another awesome teaching lesson
Thank you!
Jeff is awesome when we see god giving real undertanding of his word to us! God bless u
Thank you so much Jeff. I never have the motivation I want to read the bible. Now thanks to you I will get back into it! Thanks again!
Blessed
I'm always so encouraged by your videos! Thank you for allowing God to use you to touch people's lives for HIS glory!
I needed these words! Praise the Lord!
Faith without works is dead! He's on point "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"
I've been thinking about this for a while, and it's really encouraging to finally hear someone teaching about Paul's original intent here. Thanks man!
So grateful for this video and all the wisdom that God has given to you Jefferson!
I've always used it as something to uplift me like when I just don't think I can go Abby further or hang on I always think of that. That God wouldn't give me more than I can handle and I can do all things through Christ who lifts mgr back up again strengthens me with his promises and words
This is my favorite verse "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength"
Amen...awesome, thanks for clarifying this verse to the world. Very powerful verse and one of my faves!
Wow, I'm glad u made it public earlier than planned. I needed this right now.
Thanks for explaining it so clearly The Lord is truly using you
Awesome, absolutely awesome.
I love the way you explain things ! Your videos are so helpful
I always look forward to Jeff's posts. God definitely speaks through Him. So encouraged. Good word, dude! God bless!!
God bless
You are so inspiring and your style gets me so fired up! Thanks for continuing to follow and lead in His name!
Loved it!!!! Never thought of it that way. Doesn't matter what's coming next. I have all I need to sustain me through thick and thin.
I was just wondering about this! Thank you Mr. Bethke!
I'm using this verse to help me get to my goal of running my first Marathon as a diabetic, all I want to do is really finish it under 4 hours. I was at my low, but now God is changingfor the better.
Thanks Jeff for further explaining this verse to me. This really ministered to me.
Great job Jeff. All things thru him but we have to do it as well. Jesus is with us
This is so spot on i use to do that finger thing or randomly open the bible and read verse.... thank you alot i trust you lord amen
I love how u dig so deeply into the bible. That's awesome! I watch all ur videos! Please don't stop making them!! :)
Get it! thats soo good! we often twist the word to make it convenient for us, when in reality the actual meaning is so much better than what we twist and settle for!
You're such a blessing and an inspiration!!! May God Richly Bless you!
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (August 2) I attended worship at a local Presbyterian Church. The Scripture of the Day was Philippians 4:4-13. The pastor's sermon was entitled "Why God Could Use a Person Like Paul."
Thanks Jeff for making these videos. Your a blessing!
You truly have a gift for teaching and speaking!
Yes! The meaning is all in the context....Thanks. We enjoy your videos. Keep it up man
You are so right! I'll be honest, I tend to read the bible when I'm having a hard time but I am trying my best to read the bible everyday and to strengthen my faith. Thank you for this video. :)
Thank you for shedding some light on that passage! God bless you.
