Yeah, I agree. And I hear that most collectors also don't like the new "pixelated" face painting technique you speak of. The problem I have with body-swapping is it's a waste of money and you end up with an extra doll you really don't want. I'm in the process of doing my first, and probably last body swap. I got four of the new rooted hair Fashionista Kens to swap with the wheelchair Kens. Even though I think the wheelchair Ken has the best looking face of all the Ken dolls, I'm going to end up with four dolls and four wheelchairs I don't want. I may just give them to Goodwill or something, I don't know.
I didn't buy the new afro fashionista with the blue lipstick because of this reason. In person the doll looked like trash and the lipstick looked like an 8 bit video game! Plus they're getting lazy with rooting- found a ton of new dolls with balls spots and weird hairlines.
I really, really want to like the petite Claudette doll. Her skintone is gorgeous, and you're right that her cheekbones are great, and I really want some MTM petite dolls. But her facepaint gives her such a vacant expression, and I'm not a fan of the duckface lips, and I do prefer natural hair colors for the dolls I choose. I think I'll wait to get her until I can do a headswap. I've heard that the new MTM Fashionista in the red wheelchair is a match, so maybe I'll get her soon!
Yes, they are a match and it might be a cool swap to see the skipper face sculpt from wheelchair barbie on the bmr claudette!! I bet she would be adorable.
I absolutely adore Claudette, and really love the Pazett sculpt most times as well. Steffie is not really my fave, but there are a couple I find cute. I have always been in love with those lips though. I do want at least one Steffi mold in my collection at some point though. The Carnaval can be a hit or miss...but more times than not I find her sculpt really cute, and definitely have some in my collection.
No i do not ... can you clarify what you mean? Are you asking about every sculpt ever made by mattel? Or specifically for the barbie character herself? Thanks.
Both interesting sculpts I would love to see more iterations of... especially steffie as modernized dolls. I love when they bring the old favorites back and put the modern era spin on them.
@@BrokenDollyTV Yes, but unfortunately the updates that are being made, in my opinion, are not right at all. The only thing I like about what Mattel has released in recent years is the Looks line, the rest (in my opinion, but I know a good number of people share it) are molds that look like cartoons. It is possible that today's children like that type of doll and I think it is very good, but for adult collectors it would have to be different.
Hi! Could you please answers to few of my questions? What body is holiday Claudette on? Is BMR Pazette same shade as Ella from looks? And is BMR Claudette same shade as violet hair petit Barbie looks?
Sorry for replying so late... Holiday Claudette is on a soccer player body (or similar shade will work, such as orange top, skateboarder, maybe even model 1 (Lina) from Barbie Looks series? BMR Pazette is NOT the same shade as Elle, Pazette is much darker. BMR Claudette is not the same shade as the BMR Tamika sculpt. Claudette is actually a darker shade. hope that helps.
This reminds me why I almost exclusively buy second hand and thrifted dolls- better face molds! Chrissy, Stacy, and Midge don't really appear anymore. The vintage AA dolls face mold is the cutest and barely ever used anymore. Ironically I find a good amount more diversity in looks im older dolls. Less skin tones but better quality and no pixilated eyes!
Hi, i'm replying so late, forgive me. I am working on some custom designs for doll clothing, in collaboration with my son. We don't have them for sale yet, but we're working on it for sure. And when they are available i will be sure to let my followers know where they can get ahold of it.
@@BrokenDollyTV oh its no problem at all darling, im thankful to have gotten a response at any pace, and i know you've probably been very busy making magic happen and trust and believe i will be here patiently awaiting the Goodies when they go on sale lol i hope you have an awesome weekend as well ❤💯🥰
I really like the BMR curvy Pazette. I bought 2 and have kept them both in original hair so far. I named her Brooke after a woman news anchor I saw for a bit on an online network. She vibes her, doesn't look exactly like her. Why not pull Rozlyn's head off and wash it out to stop the glue? Carnie is a sculpt I like I have several Carnavals and I shrunk her head. Another I kept regular (didn't look as big). I bought BMR Claudette for the petite body and I'm not really fond of the sculpt, but I put it on a 100 pose body (taller) and into my Looney Tunes dsiplay and she looks better. I have kept her alien cones so far and like the hair color. Why not buy an eye brow pencil at the store and using it over the factory brows on Bunnie? It will dull the shine down w/o changing it and see if that helps for only the brows (I used eyebrow pencil on my two BMR green haired guys because I took the factory off. I also removed their shadow and the lashes part of their eyes, leaving the liner. On one I removed the flock and the lips and on the other I dyed the flock brown and left the shiny lips (for now) I haven't had a problem with shine on them. Dang, no one mentioned that Yara was MTM petite. She's now being offered for $150 so she's way out of my range. Oh, well . . .
I think the problem is the faces used to be sprayed on layer by layer, which made a matte finish and lasted longer. Because the templates were made to fit flush to the face, it held the face in place so it was less wonkies but also mean you can't use the same temp for a different sculpt. To allow more face sculpts to have different looks each time, they "can't" spend extra money on making and keeping track of new templates so they computerise the faceup and just print it on all at once, which also saves time. So, yeah the dolls is more glossy and won't last as long when subject to play, but the diversity is worth the sacrifice of the longevity since adults usually don't play as rough with our toys and kids don't care about glossy faces. People say diversity is killing the brand, but it's just corporate greed. We COULD have both if the company wasn't run by people who never cared about this hobby a day in they life. I wish they would just stop giving the higher ups unneccesary raises and invest in better quality. At least they still spray most collector doll faces.
Thanks for saying this. Too many of us are reachers, afraid to openly admit that mattel is more a corporation than a group of doll collectors looking to provide a satisfactory product to their customers. We care so much about having their products, we attribute that same feeling to mattel, as if they care what we feel too. Like fans of Jordan will buy all his shoes but don't realize Jordan don't care if u buy them or like them. He doesn't work on every shoe, Nike does. His name and logo is what sells the shoe. And he could care less if u have every pair because you're his fan! As long as Nike sends him a paycheck, he ain't questioning their design decisions. Lol
I think mattel low key designs some faces to look like real people but they don't have official permission so they just hope nobody will notice. just a theory.

That dark skinned Pazette sculpt Barbie is so gorgeous 😍
I picked up a Steffie head that was loose at a thrift store the other day and hooked her up with a new a body. One of my favorite sculpts.😉
Woah ! Pretty lucky find! I haven't been to a thrift shop in ages.
It always surprises me how many dolls actually remind me of real people.

I’m sure some child will be thrilled to get an almost new doll for next to nothing. Charity shops are awesome.
Absolutely love steffie sculpt! Almost always get that one. I think the collector mermaid muse(?) might have the Claudette sculpt
Thank you for this. ❤️

Some face sculpt give dolls more high-end look than others like Claudette sculpt
I love all the BMR line. I've just ordered the Blasian Mbili sculpt one, who is my favourite, but I would like to have them all.

I’ve always wanted the Nicki Minaj sculpt from 2011-12 I wonder if Mattel ever used it for another doll
Hmmm... good question. I wish they would reuse sculpts from celebrity dolls for other dolls too. Like cher, jlo, Johnny Depp! So many others.
The leaking goo doll is probably leaking plasticizer.
