Brilliant video yet again. So amassing up there with its beautiful beaches and warm climate. What a fantastic time you guys are having and I appreciate being able to travel along and experience your journey thanks to your efforts Mike for producing these awesome videos. Jade, Riley and Toby are so luck to have had the opportunity to spend their early years just enjoying life, something they will hold close to their hearts for ever and hopefully do for their children in the future. See you all in the next one. Take care.❤
Yea mate, such an effort to get up here for people though aye, there is so many other great places to stay on your way North many people make it a day trip, but if you have the time, which we do, it's a great place to spend a bit of time as long as the weathers good.... Kids are pretty lucky alright, they have all been here before as well. See ya soon.
Thanks for another great episode. We've fished 90 mile beach a few times & it never fails to produce good snapper. Your drone shots are great & really show how beautiful the beaches are.
What a great video. I know I've said this before, But I really enjoy your pics of music. They are perfectly aligned with the view. And so many drone shots, just great. One of the best travel channels around. Thanks for doing such a great job.
Thanks mate, always love seeing your comments. Now I need to make a video showing all these special elements from all over the country, still need to spend some time around our giant volcanoes though...
Thank you for sharing your family adventure - great drone shots and editing , So good for all of yas while the kids are at that age - well done all for contributing to another great episode you can be all happy to look back upon for years to come .
Another great video. It's great seeing the family enjoying the country. The far north is a special place and you found a few great places. You missed the best pies in the far north imho, at the Container Cafe, on the edge of Pukenui. Outstanding pies, friendly staff, beautiful place.
Cheers mate, you mustn't follow us on the facebook or Instagram, def stopped off at the container ship cafe for a Paua pie, just can't put everything into the videos, we did a heap of other things while up here as well... But to be honest the Paua pie I'd give a 5 /10 which is very low, no salt and seemed to be bulked out with potato and cauliflower or something, was a bit disspointing. I did hear the other flavours were much better though, So next time I'll give the steak and cheese a blast. It's a stunning spot up here though your right, so much to offer.
Glad you had fun up here. I was at taupo Bay earlier today and it was a beautiful day. Never had the paua pie at the Cafe, but the steak and cheese pie is a great feed. Have fun and thanks for the great work!
I have only just stumbled across your channel while looking for travel ideas when we come for holiday in September (from Australia). Love your videos and am looking forward to going back to watch your previous videos. You are giving your kids an awesome experience and I admire what you are doing.
Oh thank you, glad you found our channel lots of diverse places around New Zealand. Enjoy... September is a challenging month to travel around NZ weather wise, it can be warm, snowing, windy, cloudy, cold all in one day. But I'm sure you;ll have a great time.
Loved watching the video- fantastic shots and editing Mike. It was definitely inspiring us to return to the North. We've been in our caravan full time 3 years and we have the same scratch map... it's now very hard to scratch! 😅 We also use pita breads if we haven't shopped for a few days 😂 our favourite is to make pizzas and cook them under the grill of our oven 😁 Happy travelling ❤
Making pizzas with Pitas is an epic Idea, we've done that by doubling up Tortillas before which also works, yum if you add cheese between the Tortillas as well... Scratch map we looked today to see if we could buy a new one, but doesn't seem to be any out there now... Hmmmm... Love this part of New Zealand, wild and peaceful.
oh thank you so much, it does take a long time to create these long episodes. well over 20 hours, but it was nice to pack the whole of the far North into one episode, what a cool part of NZ.
Another great video, thanks Mike and the team. Especially like the drone shots, as mine is just for fishing and doesn't have a camera. Makes me wish we'd done more of this when our kids were little, but at least I now have the opportunity to do some exploring with the grandkids (looking forward to Christchurch to East Cape in September). Thanks again for sharing.

The Te Paki sand dunes are so incredible, I think a lot of kiwis have never heard of it. We really like the far north, places that don't get to busy and have some cool natural spaces that aren't over developed... Cool part of NZ.
Absolutely hands down my favourite video. It was really fun to watch this one in and round my home land. Spirits bay doesn’t look like it has changed much since I was a kid in the 70’s. My husband and I discovered your Channel a couple of weeks ago and since then we can’t get enough. We enjoy watching your children playing exploring and learning life skills and just having fun being kids in the best country in the world for kids. And all the scenic places, the walks and the lowdown on the free camps. Did you take a look at Houhora Heads near Pukenui while you were there? ❤
hey there, glad you found our channel... this is our 4th time up here, and we love it, we don't put everything we do on our videos cause some times we like to go out without a camera, but this spot is so beautiful aye. Rarawa, henderson bay, beautiful spots, all our fish bait was caught off the wharf at Pukenui, we've stayed at Wagner park a few years ago, kids love hanging out up here, wish we stayed longer.
Wow guys what an awesome video, we were so engrossed in it that it did not seem 40 mins long. Your best vid yet. We were following along on our map to see exactly where you went. It was good to see what sites were dog friendly - looks like Holli Dog will need to go on holiday when we venture North - hopefully in October!!! What a fantastic life for the kids - a childhood right out of the 70s esp driving on the back of the ute. Great fishing Toby!! Keep up the good work guys - FYI we have a spot on our fridge for one of your magnets when we next meet up!!!!
awww thanks so much team. Holli Dog will love Pukenui holiday park, no Dogs allowed at the DOC camps unfortunately but still worth a day trip. There are a couple of good park over property's up North as well around Pukenui. The kids love being on the back of the truck, they were on there for about 20km I reckon, but then i wanted to drive faster so made them come in... We'll be heading South late may Early june, we'll have to get a magnet to ya!
It's nice to be able to travel around full time. I checked out your video up at Fletchers Bay, cool spot, been to Port Jackson for a day trip not with the Caravan yet, but I think it should be added to the list.

Love the long episode guys, did such a good job with your editing Mike. Lots of awesome spots for us to look forward to. Do you do milk powder? We use it as a back up at least just for our morning coffees haha, we too have run out of milk, and bread a few times on the road
We have done milk powder for quite a while now it's cheaper and easier, because we go through a bottle every 2 days lol... So generally we buy a new bottle every month or so, otherwise we just mix our own milk from powder. We all run out of food on the road ha ha if you don't your moving to fast... Enjoy the far North if you haven't got there yet.
It's great following along with you all. We also have a map (ours is online though). Over the last two years we have covered top to bottom having just been to Bluff. The only spot left for us is the Abel Tasman region which we are doing in the next few weeks. This country of ours never fails to disappoint! ps... aren't those sand dunes insane!! I was blown away by the sheer size of them.

Thanks. Hilux remapped???? I did go into Toyota and explained our situation towing a large Aussie caravan full time... they said there was no upgrades the truck would need that it was made for it... only advice was don't park on long grass when you've been towing because everything is hot and they have had 2 fires... trucks been great
yea mate, most spots aren't welcoming of Dogs aye especially DOC camps, most owners are very responsible, We do see plenty of people bringing Dogs into Dog free areas, and their Dogs are chasing the birds etc, they are the reason the area becomes dog free, but the problem is they still keep doing it any way and the good people are punished
Yea I thought it would be better for the truck, whether I needed to use 4x4 I'm not sure, it's a bit of a climb up there, I also went up in 1st gear at about 25 - 30km an hour cause it was pretty bumpy. 2nd gear was to much bouncing around.
He mate, we actually caught some small bait fish off the wharf at Pukenui that we used, because Bait is expensive, and we would have been left with smelly bait bags, so just little herrings for this trip, generally though I use Squid as it stays on the hooks when I cast.
@@leopardsgowild ok cool cool. Heading up there Nek weekend, will give it a go! Appreciate the info. Keep up the awesome mahi /details in your videos. 🙌
@@fredmatthews1650 sweet mate, You might find Doubtless bay a better spot for fishing... up the top is so hit and miss... If you go to Ramp Rd, walk out and cast on night fall, almost guaranteed fish. but you got to be committed to getting cold for that lol.
@@craignelson-swiftyenzed7578 everyone was telling us Wagner holiday park was way better, but for $45 a night can't beat that price, and then there was a murder a few days later there... Yikes.
ha ha yea I just mentioned that in another comment, the murder took place at wagner holiday park which is just down the road. I think that happened over easter weekend though and we had moved by then.
its not welcoming to dogs at all... Not that making it Dog free has any impact, seems to me people bring their dogs everywhere they aren't allowed any way, so what's the point of making it Dog free, and the people bringing them are usually the ones who have Dogs who kill the birds. Their doesn't seem to be much enforcement, pretty much everywhere we have been in Northland there have been dogs despite the signs.
Think before you CUT corners on the[ road Give way ] road rules KEEP LEFT Dont mean to be NEGTIVE! Great video looks like the kids love it -------------- stay safe play safe

CHILL adventures... the man... So many good notes to take down for when you finally come down under mate... def the better half of the globe. Riley has a plastic horse that lives in her cupboard, Jade catches to many waves now... thumbnails. I've been trying to improve a few...
I don't think you can access the beach at Spirits bay without a key, there is a locked gate to get on the dunes... Taputaputa is pretty small no luck of free camping there... 90 mile beach, I reckon would be easy to find a spot to pull up above the high tide line.

It's way better than most similar but I won't name drop lol their are so many international vloggers here these days as well .Fair to say winter should provide a period of growth for the channel with seasonal couch surfers 🤞 meanwhile keep on laughing and loving
ha ha, just doing what we love... Soph would love to skip the winter, although she loves the outlook just not the cold... peace: friend...
love your vids! going up far north tomorrow
oh mate, I'm jealous i'd happily go back up there tomorrow. Enjoy your trip.
@@leopardsgowild thanks!
Great episode. Cheers guys.
Thanks mate, always appreciate a comment and watch, cheers. have a good weekend.
Great vid as always guys! Did you get your hilux remapped for all the towing before you set off?
Thanks. Hilux remapped???? I did go into Toyota and explained our situation towing a large Aussie caravan full time... they said there was no upgrades the truck would need that it was made for it... only advice was don't park on long grass when you've been towing because everything is hot and they have had 2 fires... trucks been great
@@leopardsgowild 😂😂yea good advise! I know a lot of guys that get them retuned depending what type of driving they are gonna use the truck for.
Thank you
cheers mate.
Great video again. A bit sad that so much of nz has become anti dog though, stops a lot of us seeing some of the wonderful places.
yea mate, most spots aren't welcoming of Dogs aye especially DOC camps, most owners are very responsible, We do see plenty of people bringing Dogs into Dog free areas, and their Dogs are chasing the birds etc, they are the reason the area becomes dog free, but the problem is they still keep doing it any way and the good people are punished
Mike did you use 4 wheel drive to get up the hill from the capm site
Yea I thought it would be better for the truck, whether I needed to use 4x4 I'm not sure, it's a bit of a climb up there, I also went up in 1st gear at about 25 - 30km an hour cause it was pretty bumpy. 2nd gear was to much bouncing around.
Thanks
Awww thanks a lot mate, appreciate that.
Awesome 🙌
I’m a fishing rookie Mike,What did u use as bait
Chur chur
Yup - its quite a long way up there, but Pukenui camp is great.
yea have you stayed at Pukenui? We thought it was a great little spot.
@leopardsgowild Yes a couple of years ago when we did the far north.
@@craignelson-swiftyenzed7578 everyone was telling us Wagner holiday park was way better, but for $45 a night can't beat that price, and then there was a murder a few days later there... Yikes.
Wasn’t there a murder at Pukenui Camp right around the time you were there?
ha ha yea I just mentioned that in another comment, the murder took place at wagner holiday park which is just down the road. I think that happened over easter weekend though and we had moved by then.
Great video . Love the far north but its very dog unfriendly.
its not welcoming to dogs at all...
I think you may be mistaken for the 1 lane bridges we don't cut corners
😁😁😁
one of my favourite spots.
something starting with B missing from the top of your Ute.
a boat I'm assumming, wouldn't that be nice...

i will need to leave many comments as to not forget ideas that will be pushed out of my head by other ideas!!!! Jade caught a sick wave in the intro!!!! u bought a horse!!!!!!!! u change ur thumbnails a bit?? looking sick Riley do NOT sound american anymore lolol
CHILL adventures... the man... So many good notes to take down for when you finally come down under mate... def the better half of the globe. Riley has a plastic horse that lives in her cupboard, Jade catches to many waves now... thumbnails. I've been trying to improve a few...
So you can't just drive down the Beach and Camp up in the Dunes, Just By pass all the DOC BS ?
I don't think you can access the beach at Spirits bay without a key, there is a locked gate to get on the dunes... Taputaputa is pretty small no luck of free camping there... 90 mile beach, I reckon would be easy to find a spot to pull up above the high tide line.
