I think the two are very compatible as colleagues. Lucy knows how to deal with him and Romano likes her as a student. If she didn't die, she could've had a career in Psych or Surgery.
Romano is such a great character. He wasn't afraid of being disliked for any reason and yet showed his full compassion to those he cared for. Corday and benton were two such people. When he signed to Reece to look after Daddy it was amazing.
My personal favourites are he pretends to not get pages when Lizzie struggules to get her confidence back as a surgeon; he orders ice cream and pizza for her after a long surgery when she's 7-month pregnant.
People so often misread Romano because, as with real life, all they saw was surface. He had his moments, but no worse really than Kerry or anyone else in charge, and he often was a fierce advocate and diagnostician for his patients -- the way he ended up (even with McCrane's agreement) was appalling.
I admit to cheering when the helicopter crushed Romano, but I'll still never forget this particular scene. Anytime I end up in a conversation with another ER fan, and we inevitably end up talking about our mutual hatred for Romano, I always bring up this one scene as it's the one time I actually liked and agreed with him.
I remember being so shocked at Romano being kind like that when this first aired. Seemed so out of character. Out of usual character. Was amazing to see.
@@propertyofranger It’s just a shame that it was a dead end arc. Not that I wanted them to be together. I’m glad it was Mark and Elizabeth. But it would have been nicer if the arc lead to something more with Romano up to his death.
Such a great actor. I love how Romano heart is huge. But he actually choose just a few people really special to him to see that. Paul character really deserve more time!!! Rocket Romano Rocks!!!
Oh yeah, Kerry was always such a Grade A bitch. I just watched her confront Elizabeth about her attitude at her first day back in Chicago since Mark's death.
I always loved the relationship Corday and Romano had. He truly respected her, loved her. She knew that behind that asshole exterior was just another asshole. A creamy, sweeter asshole, who genuinely did care about her.
Romano got such a bad rap but the man wasn’t a monster, he was just abrasive and rough, and in his last couple of seasons, bitter about the shit that was happening to him. I never thought of him as a bad guy and was quite sad to see him go.
Rocket was such a great character, a complete prick. Surgical attending , he’s arrogant as sh!t but it works. And when he was kind, rare, it made him stand out
Romano as a whole was not a good person, but he wasn't exactly a bad person either, a man too wise to be comfortable with his own faults or ignorance let alone anyone else's, a man of endless projecting, but I felt he was way more tenacious than he was evil
Alot of people didn't like and still don't like Romano. What people tend to forget is, he may be abrupt, rude, direct, annoying and rough around the edges but, the man has heart, and a huge one. He's professional to a tee and he lets no one forget it and while in the teaching mode, he expects the same from everyone. I'd take a hundred docs just like this guy in an instant because when the stuff is hitting the fan, thats the guy you want leading the pack. I miss him and this program These things we do so others may live.
I disagree. He may have had a heart but it was too sizes too small. He treated people horribly, far beyond "abrupt and annoying." He was vicious, constantly tearing people down, being misogynist and homophobic. He tried to fire the psychiatrist on the spot for being lesbian. Peter did something to piss him off, and he not only fired him but blacklisted him around all the nearby hospitals. He was kind to Elizabeth because somewhere in his twisted heart he cared about her. He showed emotion at Lucy's death because he thought he was the greatest surgeon who ever lived, and should not fail, not because he cared a fig about Lucy. The only other time Romano was something resembling a decent human being was the scene in which he signed to Reese behind Peter's back.
@@su-rv2uq Thats just to bad isn't it. If or when you ever get to that point of being a teacher of any thing, then you might have some room but as it sits now, you've got nothing. Apparently missed a good deal of the under tones. Probably a good thing then.
Romano was one of the characters in ER that people loved to hate. Was he an a-hole, yes, did he have a human side, yes, and he proved that multiple times with Lucy and Corday.
We dont get much info on Dr Romano before he was at County, but i think he as been in this situation before as the caretaker. Its just too real. He knows exactly what to say and he seems to totally understand her situation.
I really think Dr. Romano could have sticked around till the end S15 without having his arm chopped. Not gonna lie, he was the most realistic human character in ER
Sometimes the greatest kindness is telling someone exactly what they need to hear, even if it's not nice. That's exactly what he did here. He didn't coddle her, he just told her the truth
I wish they hadn't killed off the Romano character. He was a great character and Paul McCrane was and is a great Actor. Feminists like to say that only Woman are judged by their looks. Men are also judged by their looks also. If a Male Actor is very good looking- he becomes a Leading Man. If he (by some in Society's defintion) he is not so good looking- He becomes a character Actor. He is bald, on the Short Side so a character actor, but still a great Actor.
He wanted Corday for the longest time.. even asked her out kind of in the diner across from er.. then he loses his arm and he feels useless and been replaced by younger doctors. Then Greene gone and Corday likes hotshot younger dr and Romano watches them leave together w he’s got his one arm 😪😪
I could tell he had a heart when he tried to save Lucy Knight.
Thats true❤
I think the two are very compatible as colleagues. Lucy knows how to deal with him and Romano likes her as a student. If she didn't die, she could've had a career in Psych or Surgery.
Also when he did sign language to Benton's son.
That "Yes." is insane. Life changing scene and delivery.
Most of the time I hated Romano, but the more I rewatch ER I learn how special and talented he was. This scene is wonderful.

Romano was what this show needed.
He always has a soft spot for Lizzie.
She is drop-dead gorgeous.
I remember being so shocked at Romano being kind like that when this first aired. Seemed so out of character. Out of usual character. Was amazing to see.
He loved Elizabeth. If anyone could bring out his warmth and kindness it was Corday.
@@propertyofranger It’s just a shame that it was a dead end arc. Not that I wanted them to be together. I’m glad it was Mark and Elizabeth. But it would have been nicer if the arc lead to something more with Romano up to his death.
Great scene.. wish they had more Rocket moments like these. Such a great actor
Such a great actor. I love how Romano heart is huge. But he actually choose just a few people really special to him to see that. Paul character really deserve more time!!! Rocket Romano Rocks!!!
Exactly
The difference between Romano and Kerry was that he was honest about the fact he could be a ruthless jerk
The other differences being he was a straight man.
Oh yeah, Kerry was always such a Grade A bitch. I just watched her confront Elizabeth about her attitude at her first day back in Chicago since Mark's death.
He actually had some decent moments. This and reece stand out.

if they hadn’t killed him off i imagine she could have eventually remarried to romano🥰
@@doctorposting The angry, redheaded babies they could have made. My god.

This show is heartwrenching, but always good.
i always loved Romano
I loved when he called her, "Lizzie". ❤
He adored her, but he knew he had no chance in hell to ever have her.

I always had a feeling that there was a deep interior reason that he kept people at arm’s length….. it’s too bad that they never explored it.
One of his most humane moments
Happy birthday romano from italian boy live in rome and I m fan of er
Romano sometimes surprises you.
Romano as a whole was not a good person, but he wasn't exactly a bad person either, a man too wise to be comfortable with his own faults or ignorance let alone anyone else's, a man of endless projecting, but I felt he was way more tenacious than he was evil
That prince Harry joke aged magnificently
Romano could be a really great person when he wanted to, but it's a shame he chose to be so mean-spirited and callous most of the time.
I loved Romano, especially when he and Weaver threw down😊
There’s something really cool when Romano acts sensitive… I guess that’s because he never does.
Remember when Lucy died? He showed emotion, and tore apart an operating room!
@@downhomesunset He has a good heart, he just doesn’t show it.
Remember the operation on his dog…

Be foreal, feminists do NOT say that 😂 Feminists are the ones who advocate for men’s care as well:
I love this scene
I thought Rocket was one of the best characters in the show
Wish they didn't kill offf Romano. Yeah he's a massive jerk, but he should've been given a better send off.
