- How to fold a combination of Shuzo Fujimoto’s Hydrangea and Clover Tessellations.

Not a beginner’s tutorial.
Let’s get that out of the way first.
If you have not folded either of these base designs before, then it might be easier to start there.
My first tutorials on here should help or check out videos from HappyFolding 👍

You will need:
• One square of paper, which you have
• Pre-creased to a 24 division square grid with 24 diagonal divisions.

Have fun!

@@bgoodydj Thank you so much 😊
I love this design. Ive found between studying your tutorials and Sara Adams' tutorials, there are different ways to build the hydrangea model from Fujimoto's designs. I love the way you are breaking and down for your viewers (especially me) and walking through the steps with your awesome accent! 😊 Keep them rolling along, my friend... Im very inspired.. thank you, sir!
@@stephengrimes2305 Thanks Stephen! Glad they are a help 😁
I'm so glad i found your channel! I'm not a novice by most standards, about 6 years ago I was quite enamoured with triangle grid flagstone tessellations, mostly folding Joel Cooper's works (not the masks, they're insane), but I always enjoyed Fujimoto pieces.
I've started folding casually again and I feel like your videos are picking me back up to where I was with clovers and hydrangeas, except a few steps on from where I was.
Great work, I love your dry commentary too.
Much appreciated! Keep the videos coming.
Thanks!
Glad you are enjoying the videos, Tobias!
There seem to be endless possibilities with Fujimoto’s techniques, check out my designs on Instagram to see lots that I have never got around to making videos for 👍
E.
Super duper, thank you. My regular origami paper now feels like very worn cotton, but it hasn't a single tear or rip. Ha! Cheers!
Lovely! Thanks for posting this. The outside pattern reminds me very much of the designs by John Mceever, which is no bad thing at all.
adding the extra divisions in the middle to make the third hydrangea layer is quite clever, I'll probably start doing that when I fold hydrangea stuff from now on
if u ever publish a book of hydrangea variations you should call it "the hydrangea hypothesis"
@@jelloshot 😂 That’s a fantastic title!
I actually did it. Thanks for the great video
🥳
Best regards. Thanks for sharing your works. What size paper did you use for the small one?
@@jorgeorlandoperezrodriguez9355 That is 7.5cm harmony print paper from Grimmhobby.
Can get it on a few origami sites and Amazon

Wonderful!
I was so frustrated with this one and couldn't figure out what my problem was! I knew the folds, having folded several of your other models recently and having folded a lot of basic hydrangea's and clovers from tutorial's on Nishichan Origami channel and Sara from Happy Folding. I would get to the last couple of steps and couldn't get it to work. I refolded it probably four or five times until the paper gave out. Then I folded another grid and started over from scratch, watching every minute of the video and not working ahead as I usually do. No dice. Then I thought maybe I was not folding enough extra diagonal folds so folded another grid and added an extra diagonal, which I am still not sure exactly how many you added. In any event, I folded and still ended up in the same place. Thought that maybe my arrow/pencil shapes coming off the transition from hydrangeas to clovers was on the diagonal but double checked yours and they weren't. Vowed never to fold it again. Got up this morning and folded the grid, folded through to the same conclusion and then the light bulb went off. When you are making the last hydrangeas on the corners, I was making mine too close to the center, hence my houses were too big. Refolded and amazing. Now I am going to fold about ten more to cement the folds in my very old and tired brain. I know I always write a lot but I live alone in the woods of Montana and I think I get lonely for conversation so I translate that into massive comments. Sorry, but thank you for another wonderful tutorial. I think you have one more model I want to fold and that is the one where you have it marked as not a tutorial and is 5 flowers in a bed of clovers. It looks super nice. I will see if I can pick it up without it being an actual tutorial. Deborah🌹🌹🌹
Persistence and eventual success!
Great work
Thanks for the comment, Deborah, I do love hearing how people find my tutorials. It can help me make my instructions clearer for future videos.
I haven’t made a tutorial in a while and was thinking I should get one underway… I think I might make an actual tutorial for the five flowers in a field of clovers
@@origami.by.e9415 I would love a tutorial for the five flowers in a field of clovers. I watched the video this morning, the one marked "not a tutorial", and determined that while I can see what you are doing, I don't have the foresight to figure the actual beginning structure and so I have determined to wait until you do a tutorial on it. I am now folding the five flower tutorial you have.
I cannot tell you what a light bulb moment it was for me finding your tutorials and learning that I could fold hydrangeas from the center out. I was always frustrated with folding hydrangeas of more than three layers because I would undoubtedly rip the paper when bringing the layers from behind. I folded a six petal hydrangea yesterday and that is probably my max on a 15 cm square as I don't have great eyesight, even using a light box to see better. I look forward to seeing your tutorial. Oh also, I folded the mandala heart and it is super great. That eight point center was actually easier than I thought it would be as I had seen a tutorial on another channel that did the initial collapse and then your technique for adding the last four points made perfect sense. 💗💗💗💗 Deborah
How do you make the grid doe
It needs a 24 division grid, so the easiest way is to fold it in thirds then fold each section in half and then again and again.
I use a ruler to measure to a third of the square, make a small mark and fold up to there. Then fold the other side to that crease.
Hope that helps 👍
I would love to know where you get your patterned paper from! What store are they from or what's the link for the product?
The small one is made from Harmony print paper by Grimmhobby. It is on Amazon.
The bigger one is from paper I was gifted so I’m not sure where to get it from. I can send you a picture if you’d like?
Agreed! I have been trying to blow up the imaging of the small harmony paper on my printer lol... But I would love to find the 9" or 10" harmony print paper for purchase.
