Songs Our Daddy taught us is so good! The Chocolate Drops had a great sound, Rhiannon has a killer voice. I saw Sam Bush a few years back, had no idea about him and he blew my mind. Thanks for doing this Jonathan.
Glad I was able to provide a nudge Jonathan. Fantastic response just as I knew it would be. You have an amazing collection. I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos. So many artists I will be looking for in future digs. Really, really enjoyed this. Thanks so much. Cheers.
I have all of the vinyl records that my dad (Buz Butler) recorded with Decca in the 40's. He was the first person to record Mule Train in 1947 for Decca. Love your channel.
Great set of records, Jonathan. I very nearly showed Songs Our Daddy Taught Us, before I decided to stick to 21st Century Anericana. Just goes to show how all encompassing the term can be. I always pick up any of those Flying Fish albums by folky bluegrass bands, I'm never disappointed. Hed
Hey Jonathan, great records you showed right there. I love hearing you tell stories from your youth when folk was booming. I think you were Americana before it was a term. Regarding that Hillman album the member we don't hear mentioned as much is Don Parmley. Interestingly not to long after that recording he relocated from California to the Virginia/Maryland area. There he formed The Bluegrass Cardinals band and they had a long career with lots of LPs over the years. They were mainstays on the Bluegrass festival circuit. Eventually Don retired and his son David took the helm. I'm not sure but I think they may still be active. Take care my friend, really enjoyed the video.
Thanks. It’s the music that’s closest to my heart. I’ll be on the lookout for the Bluegrass Cardinals. Record show here tomorrow. Looking forward to digging. Thanks for watching
Great tag response. Lucinda Williams is my favorite American artist as well and Car Wheels is excellent. Jimmie Del Gilmore is a great pick. Love The Flatlanders as well. Rubber Soul is my favorite Beatles album. I'm not familiar with Roy Bookbinder. I thought Lefty Frizzell had written "Long Black Veil" and found out it was someone else as well. I have seen BR549 so many times. The phone number was from a Hee Haw comedy sketch with Junior Samples. I've heard of The Hillmen but the rest of those I have not heard of before. Cheers.

Haven’t had the chance to see Sam Bush. He’s a great player. Thanks for setting this one up.

That’s very cool. Keeping the tradition alive. Thanks for watching
Nicely done Jonathan! I knew you would eventually jump on this tag. You always show interesting stuff that’s new to me. ✌️

What! You live in Maine and no Slaid Cleaves? Seriously though, a great job.
Another hole in my collection.

I’d love to find an original but this is fine for now. Hope all is well. Take care.

I stand corrected about BR5-49. It was a fun exercise doing this tag. Thanks for watching
BR-549 = ph# @ Pettitcoat Junction
I stand corrected
It’s a Hee-Haw reference.
