    I was looking for a video that would go into great detail on how to attach and use this sled/rip fence. Most of them are fairly short and skip over some of the key elements, such as setting the cursor. Most were showing left-handed placement, which did me no good. Very complete explanation. Thanks for your good work, Greatly appreciated.

    Nice overview!
    I purchased the Kreg jig about 2 years ago. I do love the concept - being able to do repetitive rips without trying to manhandle a 4x8 sheet on the table saw is awesome. I needed to rip a bunch of 3" strips for a workbench project. What I found is that the saw had a tendancy to wander a little to the left at the end of the sheet. If you make many narrow rips, the issue compounds. It seems to me that the guide rail is a bit too short. For wider cuts like yours, I'd recommend aligning the guide with a factory edge to avoid the compounding issue. Of course, the issue may just be user error...
    Setup of the jig is quite straightforward and it does a good job. Though, I would not recommend it for precision work.

    Good tool for the money but I think that the Accu cut is better, my only complaint is installing the saw after you use takes some time to get right, although once installed super easy to use and if you pay attention makes accurate cuts.

    • @DiyGuy50
      @DiyGuy50  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your input. I have a video on the Accu Cut and I use it for the wider cuts that the Rip-Cut can’t handle, but for the longer cuts 24” wide or less I prefer the Rip Cut.

    So, based on your added pop up message on the screen, you have to adjust for the kerf width of the blade when setting the cursor, correct? Also, how did you make sure it was seated properly in the jig to make sure it was square to the workpiece being cut? Did you do a test cut?

    • @DiyGuy50
      @DiyGuy50  2 года назад

      Yes, Sir, you are correct.
      As for assuring that the saw is square with the jig, all you have to do is place the leading edge of your saw’s base plate against the stops in the sled and tighten it down with the two base-plate clamps. Hope this helps!

    • @DiyGuy50
      @DiyGuy50  2 года назад

      And yes, I did do a test cut. I have put this jig to quite a bit of use and it performs great for ripping 4x8 material from 1” to 24” wide. It’s very easy to use.

    Can this ruler be installed on the Dewalt Compact Circular Saw, 1350W ? Because I discovered that it had no holes for screws, and I wanted to make it a table saw.

      Yes, it should fit your saw . The Kreg Rip Cut sled attaches to the saw base with two base clamps and set screws. The screws tighten down on your saw base but do not go into holes. Thanks for asking!

      I love the Rip Cut for cutting plywood. I set the plywood on 2” rigid foam board on a flat surface. I have a large rolling workbench but I’ve done it on the floor as well. If you set up your saw and rip cut up correctly, it’s reliable and accurate. Thanks for the question!

    The circular saw mount is made of plastic and it loosens often. It is not a bad product but you are much better off getting a track saw.

      I agree and if I have time to get deeper into wood working, like furniture and cabinet making, I will definitely get one. The Rip-Cut and Accu-Cut have served the purpose for the time being, though. Thanks for commenting!

  • @nole8923

    The Kreg rip guide is great if you’re building something from scratch. However, if you’re upgrading an existing structure like a work shed or storage shed and had a sloppy builder then things won’t be exactly square. That means you’ll have to use a tracked guide instead to match the unevenness of the original builders sloppy job. The Kreg rip saw guide cannot account or compensate because it is designed to match perfectly square existing structures. This was what I ran into when replacing the cheap OSB workbench top with quality plywood(what idiot builder uses OSB for a workbench counter top?😣). The United States has an epidemic of builders who don’t give a chit and take no pride in their work. But the Kreg rip guide is great if you’re building something from scratch.

    • @chriswelch7944
      @chriswelch7944 10 месяцев назад

      Yes, it has lots of plastic. But, that's due to the price. You could spend $400-$700 for a Festool system, but most of us don't have that kind of dough. I saw a Wen tracsaw with the track included for about $240.00. This was online at one of the big boxstore websites. Harbor freight might offer a more durable setup.
