Hi! Welcome to Project DIY! I am Stephen Doudna the creator of Project DIY. Project DIY is a channel about home improvement, home repairs, house flipping, wood working, tool reviews and more! It is meant to help encourage those who would like to create, build, fix and restore things but haven't had the confidence to step out and do it! I am not a professional. I am a do-it-yourselfer and I love what I do! From wood working projects and concrete countertops, around-the-house projects to total house rehabs, I enjoy it all! I have found You Tube to be a valuable source of help, information and inspiration for almost all of the DIY projects I have taken on (and it's FREE!!) What’s it mean if I can light the pilot light, pilot light stays on till I remove finger from pilot light knob and the blinking light never comes on? Ty!
I’m not an expert on this but it may be that the thermopile or thermocouple is bad. Have you tried holding the pilot button for 30 seconds ?

@@garygoodwin3461 Yes. I left the old storm windows on until I had the new ones installed. I then removed them and used silicone to seal the outside of the new window.
How do you measure what size window is needed without removing old window?
@@newroadchurchaustintownohi728 I have always removed both of the window sashes to accurately measure height of the opening. But you can get by with just removing the lower sash.
Can I just recess this into my workbench and not drill in from the bottom?
Yes. They can be flush-mounted or surface mounted.
I broke the locking thing in the middle by forcing it closed. Any suggestions for locking it without having to force it closed?

Thanks. I have put a much weaker spring on to prevent spindle bolt breakage. And a fiber blade washer on the center blade to also give it some slip if it hits a stump.

After waiting for 10seconds, I pressed the pilot button in and had to click the ignition button every second for 30 seconds until the light started to flick and then I turned to “hot” and it reset
@@CougarsSaluki Yes. Sometimes you have to keep hitting the igniter until it lights. I got lucky and the pilot lit on the first click. You did it correctly! Good job!
Couldn't tell which way the teeth should be pointing. You held the chain close to camera but at wrong angle to show teeth. Need profile of chain please
@@anneparker-rk9mr Each tooth comes to a point and that point must be pointing in the direction that the chain moves. Looking at the chain from above the bar, the teeth should be pointing forward or towards the tip of the bar. Hope that helps!

My heater can show red or blue indicator lights. I was able to re-light the pilot using your instructions and then the light flashed blue, once every second or so. I assume this means everything is OK?

@@DiyGuy50 Yes, it's Honeywell. Similar to yours except the status light can flash red or blue. The info card says flashing blue means normal.

my belt came off but first I notice the spring was off ! it wasn't cutting right and I chalked it off to wet grass but the belt was off in some fashion and the spring too, I wonder if a stick got inside the pulley/belt track ?
Come to think of it, my spring was already off as well! My mower deck started making a noise and I could smell the rubber. By the time I disengaged it, the belt was broke and entangled in one of the pulleys. I had a heck of a time removing it (I removed it with the deck still attached to the mower). I pulled the deck out from under the tractor and, now that you bring it up, I recall wondering why the tensioner spring wasn't attached and assumed it might have happened while I was attempting to untangle the mess! It wouldn't surprise me at all if a stick did cause the issue! Thanks for sharing!

I always thought windows had to be replaced from the outside. I live in a early 1900 home. The windows are vinyl but from 1997. What’s the best replacement for this?
@@Ryantaylor306 That will depend on whether the windows that were installed in 97 are “replacement “ windows or “new construction “ windows. If they’re the latter, you’ll have to install “new construction” windows and they ARE installed from the outside.

@@Ryantaylor306 With new construction windows, the whole window is replaced. Including the window sill and side jams etc. Replacement windows are installed in the old window frames.

Do you have to measure for thicknrss (depth), or is that standard?
I’ve never measured for thickness. I think it’s pretty standard. Occasionally, I have a small gap between the replacement window and the sill, but, normally it’s a perfect fit!
Thanks for putting this video up. Had I not seen it I probably would’ve taken off the gearbox completely. So instead this turned out being a 30-45 minute job. The hardest things were pulling back the tensioner spring onto the hook - it was tight with that new belt, and then getting the PTO shaft to mesh onto the teeth of the mower deck. It’s too cramped under there to. Use the “quick disconnect “ on the PTO coupling. I’m not sure if this was my original belt. I don’t recall my Dad or I changing it before. But if it was, this belt lasted maybe 16 years.

I've done it the way you're describing (pulling the tensioner spring and connecting to the hook) but, I think its easier to leave the tensioner spring attached and pull the belt over the pully. However, since the after market belt I used in this video was 1/2 inch shorter than oem belt, it made it a little more difficult! And , yes, connecting the PTO shaft can be a bear!

The overflows that have the two clips. Do they go over the tub. Because the last guy it was just over the gaskets which made me have a leak I think.

Can you take one pully off put belt onn then replace the pully?
I don’t think that’s necessary. I had some trouble getting this belt on because it was a little shorter than the Kubota brand.
You need to get around that pulley under the gearbox. And to do that , that bracket needs to come off. It is totally surrounded otherwise.

Hi. I removed the storm windows after I installed the new windows. I took the old windows out to measure for the new ones, so instead of putting the old windows back in while waiting for the new I just left the storm windows on.
