Thank you SO much! My stepdad said if he found any holes from my ferret, I'd have to pay for the brand new carpet myself. With this, I can easily repair it without having to buy a whole brand new carpet.
Thanks for taking the time to make video That was very informative, my dog just chewed a huge hole on the carpet and I was freaking out!!!! You made it seem so easy . I can definitely fix it now !!!
Wow, thank-you for sharing this wonderful video. Just today I accidentally damaged my friends carpet by dropping a curling iron on the floor. I was so worried because she's a renter and I thought I would have to pay allot of money to replace the whole carpet. Thanks to this video I can save a load of money doing it myself. Thank-you Lord!
Hi there! I need a life-saving advice please! I've found a place here in England to buy most of the items you used on this video but I cannot find the thing you placed the iron onto. What could i use for that? Any advice would be much apreciated. Thanks a ton!
Thankyou so much for the video! I have 3 boys who are tough on carpet and rental houses that we only DIY with the exception of carpet. My stoner carpet guy and his hack jobs are done! At least if I mess up I can try again and not get robbed.
I would think that you could make your own carpet patch pad by using a piece of fabric, like felt or even a hand towel. Dampen the fabric and then place probably "heavy duty" and maybe even regular aluminum foil on top and TA-DA! It might just work, worth a try anyway. GOOD LUCK I'm going to try this myself. Thanks for the video and information, it is very helpful.
we live in an apartment and the carpet is old and wasnt well taken care of when we moved in. the landlord wont get it replaced. could this work with carpet "swatches" from carpet sellers?
Awesome tutorial! I have dark green carpet with an even darker and unremovable strawberry soda stain that is very noticeable. I have some extra carpet from originally carpeting that room acting as an area rug on the cement floor in the basement that should be about equally worn, so I think I'll take a bit of that as a patch. Was beginning to think I would have to put up with it until it was time to replace the whole carpet!
I will try this on my felt back carpet, guy who is selling carpets told that there is no way to patch such a carpet... but I will have a go, I do not want to replace the carpet in the whole room because of one damaged region...
Your video has just saved me binning the carpet I just installed but it was too short one way and I have ended up with a giant seam along it😢Where do you get these glue pads, I can't find them anywhere online😰😥 what is the make of them, HELP!😱 Xm
I did a repair not too long ago where some guy used this technique to do a seam. Not very ideal. Seam was coming apart. Customer was very pissed. I used the old trusty "seaming iron" to fix it right. Maybe this clothes iron technique is ideal for small patches for a DIY project but for bigger seams hire a professional carpet installer.
You can clearly see that the patch of carpet he put in the hole was the one he cut out of the same hole have a good look when he puts it in the hole so of course it is going to look good coz it's a perfect fit and has exactly the same wearing on it I have a Husky who has ripped a few holes in my carpet and I have patched it myself and it takes a long time before you can't notice it anymore.
+becky yu Hi I ended up cutting a peace from the wardrobe and brought a roll of carpet joining tape but no matter how perfect the fit of the patch because the carpet from the wardrobe looks brand new it is starting to blend in as time goes on that's why I commented on this video because when you take a patch from somewhere else it won't look like this video the reason it looks so good is because he has just cut that patch out of the same hole he has putting it back in to so of course it's going to be a perfect match both in size and colour so it's very misleading.
perrfect you shoud do thisss as a job its a professinal job brill ivee a burn in my rug and will cut a bit off the extra bit under neath i cant thaank you enuff for the info on how to fix a rguuuuu/carpet
Great video but I can imagine 3 problems possibly developing- one we don't all have a piece of extra carpet lying around, much less a matching color, and two you probably can't vacuum over the fixed spot anymore (which would present an issue with an extra powerful vacuum like mine). Also I have thin carpet so a ruined portion of it might not be replaceable.
Don't know what the professionals on his talking about that it will only last 6 months I did this and it lasts for years now I'm about to do it again because my kids build something that stay in the carpet and I was going to be charged hundreds of dollars for it to be repaired I'm going to do this instead. I'm no professional and I didn't use a patch from the closet I used some extra carpet that I had leftover
You'll need to call a real carpet repair man after this experiment fails to repair the repair. This shaggy twist is the easiest to repair in this manner provided you are not planning to vacuum it afterwards.
Can anyone send us just small piece of carpet heat tape? I burned spot right next to edge of carpet (spark from wood burning stove) only a couple inches. I just can't justify afford a roll of tape when 6" or so will do it! I PROMISE to pay if someone will do a good deed and mail it to me? email is joyteachem@aol.com ...thanks so much if someone can help!!
Total garbage ....all that steam and heat applied to that cheap carpet would surely delaminate the backing and cause great discoloration to the face and pile of the carpet.
CA B Landlords use cheap ass carpet anyways...mine ripped from my carpet washing machine pulling on it. I’m sure it was made worse by my dog pawing at it, but it’s ripped right at the seam. Of course I don’t want to pay to replace the whole premises.
WOW this is NOT how you install a patch. call a flooring installer. he uses the proper tools like a seam iron tractor and seam weight. CALL A PROFFESSIONAL!!! it will last 100 times longer than this guys patch job. this will probably last 3-6 months.
richard dyck 3 months is plenty of time to get the deposit for my apartment back. I can see how some viewers might want to heed your warning, but I’m moving out of an apartment that I have kept spotless for 3 years, only issue is carpet clawed from my secret kitty roommates. They’re supposed to replace things like carpet after a couple years anyways.
THE TITLE OF THIS VIDEO SHOULD BE " HOW TO MAKE YOUR CARPET PROBLEM WORSE" If I saw one of my carpet installers make a patch like this ....I would fire him.... INSTANTLY !!!
i am a pro carpet fitter of 28 yrs and this method of carpet repair is total crap ! A household iron does not get hot enough for a start ! Total rubbish do not attempt
I did roughly 40 to 50 patches on practice carpet before I ever tried real life being thought by an carpet god! But yet there is so much more to it. Buy one of those clothe things then end up with something that can't be fixed or something that looks bad or well yo name it. There are guys out there that have $500 seamers with $100 thermoplastic edge sealers that do this day after day!! Not a thing for a first timer!!! Please don't do!!!!!!!!!,
or use liquid latex and seam tape or even fiberglass drywall tape will work, just so long as the scrim matterial you use is stable enough to press the adhesive into both the carpet backing and the scrim matterial. Just dont try using an iron to patch as small hole like this!
you should also seal the edges of the repair plug and the carpet that is being repaired with a seam sealer or even elmers white school glue will work for a good diy repair. This will prevent the carpet from fraying after a couple of months of vacuuming.
apply a thin bead of glue or seam sealer along the cardboard like edges of the carpet, avoid getting the glue on the carpet fibers and let the glue dry for 20 minutes before making the repair.
you can use two faced carpet tape or rubber cement or hot glue sticks and make a very nice repair, the method this guy is using would probably void the warranty of the carpet and could damage some carpets by resetting the direction of the fibers.
Please don't use this method, your "patch" will only last maybe 6 months to best a year. There are more steps you want to take and your "bonded insert" will last forever!
Enjoy spending hours trying to get it perfect just to have it fail the next day. Spend the $85-125 it cost to have a professional come out to fix. My minimum is $105 and something like that would be done in 15 minutes.
cprodiesel went deeper!!! I didn't expect somebody to understand how retarded this video is. You said "bonded insert" I love it! The course I was on, that you helped with, was that you need a triple weld bond to create a "bonded insert" that will last forever instead of 6 months... Then you have a vacuum full of DIY patch
Great video but I can imagine 3 problems possibly developing- one we don't all have a piece of carpet lying around, much less a matching color, and two you probably can't vacuum over the fixed spot anymore (which would present an issue with an extra powerful vacuum like mine). I'm a professional carpet fitter for 30 years , hats off to you sir well done .
everyone knocking a guy thats trying to help people save money. i appreciate the video. Helped me a lot.
Some idiots have no other purpose.
Thanks. Best tutorial I've found so far. Explains how to do this without professional tools. Much appreciated.
is there a video of how to sew a carpet seam together? , I have a few needles, but don't know which one
Thank you SO much! My stepdad said if he found any holes from my ferret, I'd have to pay for the brand new carpet myself. With this, I can easily repair it without having to buy a whole brand new carpet.
wow i was frantic when i saw the carpet damage done by my puppy. youtube and you are just great! Thank you so much for posting.
Thanks for taking the time to make video
That was very informative, my dog just chewed a huge hole on the carpet and I was freaking out!!!! You made it seem so easy .
I can definitely fix it now !!!
This has to be one of the most precisely explained videos i have ever seen . Good job !
Where can I buy knife from would a Stanley knife do
Where can I find a carpet patch pad? Thanks!
Great job, and a perfect match. Blends right in, and can't see any lines.
Hi there! I need a life-saving advice please! I've found a place here in England to buy most of the items you used on this video but I cannot find the thing you placed the iron onto. What could i use for that? Any advice would be much apreciated. Thanks a ton!
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR MATERIALS TO DO THIS
Where do I get one of those pads you use for the iron?
Where do you get a carpet patch pad?!
Thankyou so much for the video! I have 3 boys who are tough on carpet and rental houses that we only DIY with the exception of carpet. My stoner carpet guy and his hack jobs are done! At least if I mess up I can try again and not get robbed.
This is brilliant! Just what I need.
what is this aluminum patch? where to buy such or how to make it yorself?
Where do you buy that carpet repair pad Home Depot didn’t have it
did you find it somewhere? I can not find them either
BINGO!!
@@JohnDoe-mp1zk did this version work
How did the foil wrap work???🤔
Use your ironing board pad and cover, instead of patch pad.
Nice video thanks you for your time and help with this matter.
Üniversite yıllarında Arman Canatay da halı onarımı yaptığını anlatmıştı. acaba Arman Canatay da bun şekilde mi yapıyordu?:)
we live in an apartment and the carpet is old and wasnt well taken care of when we moved in. the landlord wont get it replaced. could this work with carpet "swatches" from carpet sellers?
where can you buy the patch pad?
I like people who can fix things.
Do you delivery to the UK? There is nothing like this I can't find in the UK or on Amazon.
I bought this and it work great, thanks
Very cool...its hard to see where the repair was done...
Awesome tutorial! I have dark green carpet with an even darker and unremovable strawberry soda stain that is very noticeable. Ch4osWe4veR it doesn't need to be patched, Google red stain removal. much easier
Ch4osWe4veR p
I’m trying to load the website but, it says it doesn’t exist. Where can I get that pad? I can’t find one online.
What do you put in the spot in the closet where you removed the carpet?
a free sample section from menards or home depot
You can also use damp white towels instead of the oven mitt
where is the underlayment? what cushions the carpet and the floor?
Were can i buy it's from
Is this still available? I can’t pull up your website!
Can this be done on stairs? My dog has chewed the corners
Does the patch need to be directional?
YES
website is no longer available
I will try this on my felt back carpet, guy who is selling carpets told that there is no way to patch such a carpet... but I will have a go, I do not want to replace the carpet in the whole room because of one damaged region...
That's excellent work there!

Meghan Douglas it's called sing tape... home depot
Nice vid man it helped me lots
PM me where you can get materials thanks! :) Great video!
Perfect!!! Awesome job!!! I wish there was that carpet repair kit where I live (damn third world... )
You are awesome a million thanks for sharing
How much does it cost to have a carpet patched?
How would I repair a large rug, which is freying on the ends
i would use glue gun
I did a repair not too long ago where some guy used this technique to do a seam. Not very ideal. Seam was coming apart. Customer was very pissed. I used the old trusty "seaming iron" to fix it right. I wonder how it gonna hold up when you vacuum
What about commercial-carpet?
I just bleach my carpet by mistake and is a good size, Like I pass the vacuum cleaner on it. What can I do to fix that???
Thank you for this!

I was thinking this was available at Lowe's or something but instead it's only online for 90 bucks.. Way to expensive
rocco61006 fr might as well buy a seaming iron and do it right.lol
Just use a damp towel.
THank you so much for the vid
This website does not exists, help.
Wow thank you for this!!
perrfect you shoud do thisss as a job its a professinal job brill ivee a burn in my rug and will cut a bit off the extra bit under neath i cant thaank you enuff for the info on how to fix a rguuuuu/carpet
wow thanks soo much!!!
Oh, thank god! My cat enjoys clawing the stairs. I guess I don't have to kill him now. :)
right lol.... I got the same problem
😂😂😂
Good work.

surething baby he said he took the piece from a closet. Just a suggestion.

Awesome product
Thank you
Sound like Robert Duval.
what if the carpet is not as clean as the little piece that you iron down? it will look like hell.
Dick Gozinya Then i'd imagine you clean it
+Dookeys Gay 😂😂😂😂👍 My thoughts exactly!
what looks like hell is what you currently have
Thank you now I can fix what my cat had done
i dont have spare carpets
lol, "out of the closet"... and into the living room XD
what about Berber carpet?
You do realize that that's a pot holder right...
I think the professionals just don't want us to know about this method because we won't call them
I'm calling bullshit on that aledged "color bleading" to match
claim.
Nice
this is Useless unless you show how you squared up the hole in the carpet and how you made the patch to match
trace
Yeah try doing that on a carpet without such a deep pile such as a loop pile
i have been installing for 11 years. i have never seen this method before
한국말 없나요 ㅜ
That just simply doesn't work
You'll need to call a real carpet repair man after this experiment fails to repair the repair. This shaggy twist is the easiest to repair in this manner provided you are not planning to vacuum it afterwards.

Doug Chaney I'll send you some if you still need it. Message me if you do.
Michael Petersen if you still have a small piece of the the carpet heat tape, I sure could use it
Can not be seen my arse 😂😂
Total garbage ....all that steam and heat applied to that cheap carpet would surely delaminate the backing and cause great discoloration to the face and pile of the carpet.
Seems this method is what tenants use to pull a fast one on the landlord in order to get their security deposit back
to get your deposit back, just don't pay your last months rent,
CA B Landlords use cheap ass carpet anyways...mine ripped from my carpet washing machine pulling on it. I’m sure it was made worse by my dog pawing at it, but it’s ripped right at the seam. Of course I don’t want to pay to replace the whole premises.
Well after a couple years the owner of the rental is obligated to replace things like carpet.
WOW this is NOT how you install a patch. call a flooring installer. he uses the proper tools like a seam iron tractor and seam weight. CALL A PROFFESSIONAL!!! it will last 100 times longer than this guys patch job. this will probably last 3-6 months.

yeah and those guys will come in and charge $300 to fix a little hole too. I dont need perfect, i need good enough and this is good enough.
This is NOT the way to repair carpet!
you can use seam tape like he is using and use a high temp glue gun with just a craft glue stick and it will bond better than this!
or use liquid latex and seam tape or even fiberglass drywall tape will work, just so long as the scrim matterial you use is stable enough to press the adhesive into both the carpet backing and the scrim matterial.

Thank you!
