- Spring time in Central PA is a great time to chase wild brown trout. I had the opportunity to chase wild browns with my son Blake and we got it done with nymphs and dry flies. It's fun to nymph during the day, and then utilize a dry fly some in the evening!

Nice video, beautiful catches. We used to have this on the section of the Clarion that I live on (between Ridgway and Johnsonburg). So many great Brownies and Rainbows that people would come here with fishing guides in 5 man drift boats and have great fun the entire time, catch and release for trout of course. Great for the local economy too.
Then a few years back, someone in Harrisburg thought it would be a great idea to dump BT by helicopter, into the river in Spring to eliminate the mosquito and brown fly hatch. Yea, congrats, it works, and its great to have a mosquito free backyard, but unintended consequences being what they turn out to be, there are few to no trout in this stretch of the river any longer! BT kills off ALL insect larvae.
Used to be able to go down morning and sunset and like clockwork, watch the same fish jump and feed at the same spots. No more. Still have bass, Perch and other fish, though very few trout I am told.
Leave it up to the government to mess some things up! Thanks for watching! Tightlines!
sad part (sadder) is that the BT was to make the river more amendable to ppl on kayaks, tubing, etc,, bug free. and now, there is not even a place in Ridgway, or anywhere near, where you can rent anything like that, ever since Lazy River Canoe rentals had to close. So, it was made bug free, seemingly for nothing. Now, every month some other Govt agency seems to be counting fish in a diff helo with some sort of radar mounted on their helo. and of course, no one in Govt claims to know anything. thanks
