Yep I'm the same way. Some mud is ok but not a fan of heavy mudding. Some technical spots are fun but nothing too crazy. We just love riding in the mountains and taking it all in. Where do you ride? Thanks for checking out the video!

I love your videos, thanks for sharing your adventures. We just got our 1st four wheelers and are loving it. We're in western Colorado, Grand Junction, so there's a little bit of everything close by. I'm curious what radios you use, I'd like something I can communicate with the wife without having to push buttons and yours sound like they work great. Thank you and keep the videos coming!

That's awesome, what kind of four wheelers do you have? I've never been to the Grand Junction area but I'd love to some day.
The radios we use are Sena Spider ST1 and we love them. The mesh system is way better than Bluetooth. You basically turn them on, press a button and you are connected.
Thanks for checking out the videos and leaving a comment. Much appreciated!

@QuadLifeATV thanks for the radio info. I picked up a 2023 can-am outlander 700 and a 2024 yamaha kodiak 450 chose my wife. Grand Junction is great. You can go from sandy deserts up to dense forest all within about an hours drive. So much variety.

My brother is really wanting one of the new Outlander 700s. They look like a great machine!

@QuadLifeATV my outlander has been great so far. It's just the base model, but it runs smooth and is really comfortable. The only downside I can think of is it doesn't have grease zerks anywhere on it, which seems kind of odd to me.

If you don’t mind my asking Rod where do you ride in Colorado? And where do you stay? Looks like a good time.

Hey Tim, we ride north of Steamboat springs around Hahn's Peak. We love it out there. Hope to get KC out there at some point!

Automatic descent control is your friend in colorado for sure.

Absolutely! My Sportsman Touring just has engine breaking-- not the full ADC. It helps a ton, but in real steep areas the back tires will skid a little bit. I also have a 570 SP with the full ADC and it makes a huge difference. Thanks for checking out the video!

@@QuadLifeATV A little trick that I used a long time ago on a Sportsman 500 was, start down the steep part and stop. Put it in reverse and push the override button and back up until the front wheels engage, then hit the brakes hard and put it in low range and let go of the brakes. Then you will have 4 wheel decent control. When you no longer need the decent control, just gas it. Personally I never needed to have the ADC engaged, until I climbed a VERY steep hill with my 2022 Trail model 570. Like a fool I tried this hill that I had bypassed several times before. I was in Hi range. Another mistake! About 2/3 of the way up, I was leaning over the front rack, and the front tires came off the ground and I had to back out of it. Now, I was on this very steep rocky hill and STOPPED, and in HIGH RANGE!!! I just gave it a little throttle, and that machine just walked up that hill like it was level. I turned around at the top and engaged the ADC and I just idled down that very steep hill. I never had to hit the brakes even once. I was impressed. It actually came off that rocky hill better than I could have done using the brakes. I have been riding Polaris quads since 1990. I think that my new 2022 is the best quad that I have ever had. The clutching is sooooo much better than my 2012, or any of the previous 5 Polaris quads that I have owned.

@@BuilderofRat that is a great tip, thanks for sharing. I never thought of putting it in reverse as a way to get the front wheels engaged. I'll have to try that sometime. I agree ADC is amazing on extremely steep grades. I don't think I'll purchase another machine without it at this point. I've had several Polaris machines and they've all been excellent machines so far. Hope to do some review videos on them soon. Thanks for checking out the video!

@@BuilderofRat how does the clutching of your 2022 trail differ from the other machines you've had?

@@QuadLifeATV Some of my other quads would require a higher engine speed before the clutch engaged. Some years were worse than others. My Girlfriends 09 was one of the worst. It would engage harshly causing the quad to jerk forward. She hated that it did that, and would complain. This 2022 engages smoothly. No jerking, nothing harsh. Just a smooth engagement.
When I was on that steep hill and stopped in high range, I may have even burned the belt trying to move forward with all of the others. Not so with the 22. When I am just cruising around going slow, it is so effortless on the quad's part. It starts moving at a much lower engine RPM. Plus, it is so quiet. I bought a used RZR so that my Girlfriend and I can go together, and it is so noisy by comparison. I may try to sound-proof the back panel. We usually wear helmets, and that helps. The RZR has had some clutching changes done to it to try to eliminate the jerky take off by the previous owner, but it is still a bit harsh In my opinion. But it works well after you are moving. It has a 900 CC engine, and has way more power than it needs. I am glad that I never got a 900 quad. My 570 will take me anywhere I need to go.

Sorry but do you drive the short geared L a lot?

Typically I'm in High on the trails unless we get to a very steep, rocky, technical section. When I was a beginner rider I kept it in low most of the time but not anymore. Thanks for checking out the video!
