The 2 newlyweds that went over the edge in the rzr didn't make it. Their 2 dogs did, though. I was on that call with Search and Rescue. Thanx for a great review of our town. Come back any time

Love seeing Colorado videos, we been going to the mountainsfor going on about 40 years. The trails were a lot smaller. Lake City is the only one you can drive your OHV through town. Silverton Is another great place to ride. Tons of trails. The last 2 years they havent let the atv and sxs drive in town(they lost a ton of money!) If you get a chance to get to silverton Try Kendall Mountain . Awesome trail. Got a lot of videos of trails in that area. You should have tried Picayne Near the top theres a trail 19 i believe and it take you to the very top of a mountain!!!

Thanks for watching! I wish we lived a little closer to Colorado. It’s beautiful country out there and there’s so many trails to go see. We really enjoyed lake Lake City and all the people there. We usually go out near Taylor Park/Pitkin area but we switched it up last year. I’m ready go back that’s for sure!

I live in LC...Stop signs mean stop. Follow the speed limits...our roads are not race tracks...park like a normal human being...other than that, HAVE A GREAT TIME

Did I run a stop sign and drive above the speed limit? A lot of the video was sped up so you could see more of the loop. We went the same speed as anyone else out there! We tried to be very respectful in town and on the roads. And if you’re talking about where the vehicles are parked in the beginning, that’s where we were told to park. Have a good one.

Thanks for sharing. Wonderful info on trails. We have been to Taylor park twice. Never have been to Lake City area. Do you have any info on camping near Silverton or Ouray that would let you ride out from camping spot? I plan on staying in Lake City some of the trip, but we will need to relocate to ride trails near Silverton and Ouray. Thanks again

I think there are a few campground just a outside of silverton that you can camp and ride out of. You can’t ride the UTVs in silverton though but I think there is some sort of shuttle service if I’m not mistaken. The only thing about being on the Ouray side is crossing the highway to get to the full loop. I’m not sure if they have places to legally cross. We really enjoyed lake city though, the locals were awesome and there was a lot of entertainment in the town at night when we were there. I would definitely go back!

If you stay at Silverton Lakes RV Resort, you can ride out to the trails east of town directly from the campground. They have a staging area to park UTVs. I think the main campground is crowded so I prefer to stay at their smaller south location, which is in the middle of town. They will still let you park your UTV at the main campground staging area. It's about six blocks from one campground to the other. Kendall Mountain and the Gladstone area require UTVs to be trailered/towed to the trail start points. Oh, and having been to Taylor Park and Silverton, there's no comparison between the two from a scenery standpoint. The Alpine Loop is awesome.

@jhuck8166 thanks for the info! I think riding out of Silverton would be sweet so you can see more of that side of the loop. From Lake City it’s a long day to get over there and back

I been waiting for a video of this place I'm planning make this trail on my rzr next year and I would like ask u about the permit and where get that ?

    • @SchmidtysOffroad

You can get them online I’m pretty sure but there are a few places in lake city you can get them. If you are in lake city I would go to Lake City Auto and Sports Center. If you are coming into town from the north, it’s a little gas station and atv shop on the left side of the highway. Very nice people and very helpful! If you have any other questions let me know and I can try and answer them! We loved our trip, the second half where we did Poughkeepsie was a lot of fun if you’re looking for a little bit more of a challenge.
