I have the same setup with an AP 136. I purchased it off a guy who had a few Kayaks with the NPV NK300 on them. I haven't used it yet, but I'm looking forward to using it out on the Puget Sound in WA. The extra speed is going to make fishing the Salt a lot better! Thanks for the video too!
Play with the trim of the nk300, it didn't feel like it was optimized, I have gotten faster speed out of it on this boat with less weight, it is hard to show all this because every person and boat is different, you just gotta play with it
Awesome vid, looking to try and get this for my kayak. Anything else I need to buy besides the motor to help assist with install? I saw the idea of adding spacers on the trolling motor mount to raise it up a bit. Do you think the motor would be too high out of the water? Sorry for all the questions I just don’t want to do anything the wrong way, thanks!
Yeah the whole thing will need to be revisited, this works in good weather and normal conditions, but not in area with super heavy current, my autopilot will go thru some serious modifications
What i would do is put a aluminum plate to cover the back, mount the newport mount in the center and then get another plastic quick release and instead of a motor you put a aluminum pipe on it with a rudder and a steering triangle, then you can easily swap out the motor for a rudder. See what I am getting at here 😁
that has been the plan for like 4 years lol, i did it with the old torqeedo 403ac, just havent got time to get it done, already made a rudder with pvc pipe that goes in the newport bracket but again, havent go time to set it up. Just got the ePDL+, got a new yak from dicks sporting goods and still have many videos to do with the kakus.... crazy im gonna have to fire my day job lol
I'm looking at a catch 110 mode or a nomral catch 100 .... money is tight. You give me inspiration to create my new boat / kayak. I figured out where you are. Texas .
The lift bar attached to the steering triangle on the NK300 looks as it is fastened differently. Can you pls elaborate? Close up pics?? ty I have gone thru 2 of the plastic Newport steering triangles. ty.

That is so cool 😎 it's exactly what I need for my AP 120! Thanks for the video my brother 👍
you welcome, you can get faster speeds if you bring the MK unit out of the water, creates less drag.
Alex….i believe you can get faster speeds from the NK if you didn’t have drag from the MinnKota upfront.
yeah 6.1 mph, it is on my 7 miles bridge ruclips.net/video/9mKSuN1nNi4/видео.htmlsi=MRysHbssP9CE5lph

if you want the motor to lift, just seat in the tankwell, i wouldnt add spacers
@@AliexFolgueiraand everything needed for install comes with the motor, correct?
@TheqDToxic the autopilot comes with the trolling motor, the battery box, all the wiring done just buy an amped Outdoors battery plug and go
You could add spacers to the motor mount if you want to keep the NK out of the water
