Was that the n word??😂
Are the vessi shoes none stick?
Alicent came in at the moment the king was about to join the two houses in his speech. A foreshadowing
The Grand Maester is def working with Otto. First in Aemma's and Baelon's death, and now in Viserys' worsening condition.
Makes me wonder what was in that tea and if Rheanrya dranked it
my fav fact from your video today was showing viserys going to sleep and fading into the dragon dreams. I was touched honestly by his speech about his legacy. even though everyone is selfish, I can relate to the thought of wanting to leave behind something that can be cemented in history. I felt bad for him ultimately
Viserys is the closest thing this story has to a protagonist. He's made some bad decisions, but ultimately, his heart is in the right place. He just wants to be a good king, and for everyone he loves to be happy, and for the realm to be at peace. Ironic how those decisions thwart all of his good intentions.
@@AlerieHightower his heart is in the right place, i agree. i was talking about some inherent selfishness for targarens as a whole as they always want a "targaren on the throne", or want another age of dragons, despite the fact that dragons are basically nukes in medieval times. I'll miss him as a character surely.
Rhaenyra is the clear protagonist, to me.
I love how the bad guys are just chilling in life while the good guys are dying from diseases and moral trauma.
That tends to be how life goes generally.
That's life
@@tharunv6056 So true, unfortunately
Everyone has blood on their hands
Even though I know how this all ends I’m still surprised and excited. Easily my favorite tv/stream series this year
Criston Cole not wearing his armor while on the ship was a nice touch. Would be incredibly dumb for someone to wear such heavy armor while at sea
You would love Victoran Greyjoy
He was wearing his armor on the same ship like 2 episodes ago
I think the lack of armour is more meant as a sign that Christon shows his vulnerable side here, baring his feelings to Rhaenyra
Criston reminds me of jon snow but kinda dumber
@@merenjamir_1350 murrr durrr queen,?
There is a mention in fire and blood that the flames of the beacon of the Hightower can change colours as needed, probably using chemicals provided by the maesters
Wildfire
Or, burning copper (powdered ore) like we did in 5th grade science?
"Ser Morgan Hightower, a younger brother of the Lord of Oldtown, two hundred Warrior’s Sons spilled forth from their chapterhouse to defend His High Holiness, surrounding the Starry Sept with a ring of steel. Atop the Hightower, the great beacon fire turned a baleful green as Lord Martyn Hightower called his banners. Oldtown waited for the dawn, and the coming of the dragons."
Is this a breaking bad reference?
The last shot also represents "Fire & Blood". Fire from the torches and the blood of Knight Joffrey.
More of Blood and Cheese.
My alliance changes every single episode 😂
Heh, don't read the book or look at a family tree of the Targaryens
Same
@@Karlach_ Why? I don’t mind it. That’s why I love these books and shows. It’s super interesting.
The rat and blood is a book reference to “Blood and Cheese”. A foreshadow to future events.
I was coming to comment on this, as a ratcatcher (Cheese) plays a significant role in the Dance of Dragons in the future.
What
@@Largueirus some would say bloods contributions are even more impactful
@@peach5438 it’s a reference to 2 guys that will use the secret tunnels in the red keep to get around without anyone knowing. “The Dance of Dragons” book never mentions their names just nicknames. 1 of the guys nickname is “cheese” and he is a rat catcher in the red keep& other parts of Kings Landing.
5:12 In the book it WAS mentioned
"Ser Morgan Hightower, a younger brother of the Lord of Oldtown, two hundred Warrior’s Sons spilled forth from their chapterhouse to defend His High Holiness, surrounding the Starry Sept with a ring of steel. Atop the Hightower, the great beacon fire turned a baleful green as Lord Martyn Hightower called his banners. Oldtown waited for the dawn, and the coming of the dragons."
You didn't mention the dwarf playing the drums might be mushroom or a nod to him
Great catch about Otto Hightower's saddle blanket showing the Hightower lit with green flames.
Favourite moments have to be Alicents entry (absolutely unreal), the scene of Criston kneeling with the moon and heart tree in the background (this is how asoiaf looks in my head) and Lyonel giving the nod to Breakbones to go in and kick ass!......also the Bravos flower bit is a nod to LEMONGATE!!!!!
Unreal?
@@steffurness i think he meant it as "fantastic " in the modern sense( wonderful, excellent, great ) instead of fantastic in the old sense(existing only fantasy, implausible).
@@steffurness its an Irish way of saying awesome
In the F&B chapter discussing the rule of Maegor (and his war against the faith) it’s identified that the Hightower burns green at war time
_"Atop the Hightower, the great beacon fire turned a baleful _*_green_*_ as Lord Martyn Hightower called his banners. Oldtown waited for the dawn, and the coming of the dragons."_
From Fire & Blood in the chapter The Sons of the Dragon
@@TheRubenMar yep that quote haha thank you!
We know weddings are a no no in the world of GoT, I was just waiting for something to happen and they subverted my expectations perfectly
Still don’t know why people don’t just send a gift instead 😂
underrated comment
Weddings that does not result in anyone being killed are not worth our screen time ....like the wedding of Viserys and Alicent.... totally skipped....
Been waiting a loooong time to have my expectations subverted properly.
Alicent's entrance into the throne room was up there with Hermione coming down the stairs during goblet of fire for most impactful female entrances I can think of
Haa I just rewatched Harry Potter recently. This is fresh in my memory. 😂
I thought it was closer to Drew Barrymore's winged entrance in the Cinderella retelling Ever After. "Just breathe."
That entrance was disrispectfuul for the king and both families.Always the one whos playing the saintest is the worst b....
Your breakdowns are the best out of all of those out there! You catch so many more details and these are definitely worth the wait. Thanks!
Daemon staying seated is the funniest shit
I loved it
Joffrey's ring is green! We keep jumping to the conclusion that Criston Cole was triggered by their conversation but I think there was a deeper plot.
I just caught the focus on the ring in the last reaction I watched, and thought it an odd place for Laenor's gaze to land, but didn't connect that last dot of symbolism. Thank you! Good catch!
Please explain
He hates gays like the rest of us!
what do you mean by that
@@steffurness yeah what's the connection?
The health of the king reflecting and/or being reflective of the health of the kingdom as a whole is a classic mythical trope most commonly associated with king Arthur!
Absolutely, Arthurian legend is prevalent throughout, like the Stag in the Woods, "Green" Knight, etc.
It felt like Larys could also have been talking about the Targaryens being transplants from across the sea who, “by all rights,” shouldn’t be thriving in Westeros. That scene was amazing!
Just like Littlefinger started game of thrones by murdering Jon Arryn, Larys Strong started the dance of the dragons
It's not started yet Viserys is somewhat still alive
@@DatBoiChris420 Littlefinger made Starks and Lannisters enemies by planting seeds, that was followed by game of thrones. The same way Clubfoot planted seeds in Alicent's head
@@DatBoiChris420 ah but sometimes the seeds of war are planted in times of peace
This comment made me notice that both GoT and HotD started off with a member of house Arryn (Jon and Aemma) dying in the Red Keep. The parallels are strong.
@@sydc3667
Good catch 👍
ed/plus Jon Arryn's murder was also played out as "natural".
(5:14) It is mentioned in Fire & Blood that the Hightower in Oldtown did burn green to call Lord Martyn's bannermen. Even though the dialogue is an explainer for non-book readers I'm at least happy it's from the text; "Ser Morgan Hightower, a younger brother of the Lord of Oldtown, two hundred Warrior’s Sons spilled forth from their chapterhouse to defend His High Holiness, surrounding the Starry Sept with a ring of steel. Atop the Hightower, the great beacon fire turned a baleful green as Lord Martyn Hightower called his banners. Oldtown waited for the dawn, and the coming of the dragons."
Amazing video as usual !👏🏾 👏🏾 so grateful for your work!
Brilliant video again! I wondered how Alicent was simultaneously both at the wedding and Christian Cole’s attempted suicide.
That didn’t happen simultaneously. Alicient first saves Criston from suicide and much later in that night, the wedding happened.
I think Rheanrya was going to tell Criston about the Ice and fire prophecy but he walks away,
Me too!! Was just about to say this
Wow! That was a great video! You always pick-up on things that other people don't. My husband was especially happy to see the Princess Bride confirmation. While we were watching the episode, he said, "They're heading into the fire swamp." :)
I don't have Harwin Strong AKA Breakbones in my top 10 yet because we haven't seen enough of him yet. Minor characters have it easier. Less screen time, less flaws seen to be judged.
He's moving swiftly for sure!
He'll probably take a bigger role in the events to come
well this didnt age well
Fathering 3 of the princess's children over 10 years is kind of a big role lol, last I checked, even though it was only one more episode for us. He's possibly more of a favorite of mine now, despite the lack of insight to his flaws.
My god, this stuff is so good. I wish you could release these faster!
They wouldn't be nearly as good if he did. That's why this team comes up with the best and most detailed analyses out of any reviewers on YT. Patience my friend
17:41 that ring looks a lot like the one Joffrey Baratheon used to wear that Cersei wears after his death...
Your breakdowns are the best, Eric.
Thank you for the video and analysis!!! Always appreciated!!
Wait till you find these small channels that actually have details and explanations
@@DatBoiChris420 I watch the small channels too. Not sure the point of the comment lol
Thank you for these videos. I love nerding out about these things and don’t have many friends who care about this stuff.
I do
4:07 It also reminded me of the place where Jaqen H'ghar gave Arya the Valar Morghulis coin and changed for the first time in S2E10
the mention of blooming and lemon, reminds me of the lemon tree at the house with the red door and the whole controversy there
This episode had me on the edge of my seat!
Best episode so far in my opinion. The tensions that ran throughout the entire episode were built well. The acting was superb, the movement and expressions most especially. Too bad this is the last episode for some of the actors.
What did you guys think, did this episode reach the levels of The Red Wedding or The Purple Wedding?
Nah. Not even close.
This is the best movie wedding in 2022
It was the best episode for me too. Definitely not at the level of the red wedding but I wasn't disappointed. It did left some confusion but I hope they clarify them in subsequent episodes.
The way Hightower says "War" reminds me of Anthony Hopkins as Odin when he punishes Thor. That speech was sooooo good :)
Great video i can't wait 4 your weekly recaps
NOBODY:
Ser Criston: PERSONALLY… IM NOT LETTING THAT SLIDE
15:53 he definitely gave him an ass tap. Thats want caused the blind rage😂
If I’m being honest… I watch a few other episode breakdowns from other creators because they drop them immediately. But your breakdown is always better. I’m just impatient 😂
the Christmas Story deep cut at the beginning of this video was absolute perfection
Didn't you catch Mushroom in the background in the green wedding?
He is not officialy confirmed as Mushroom yet
Alicent's entrance gave me goosebumps
Ser Criston doesn’t take that level of disrespect
How was Sir Criston not killed?
I mean fighting and killing someone on wedding gives you an instant death sentence from the king.
I like ur promo for the vessi shoes 👟 and the break down was great of HOD💪🏾🔥
OMG I love the Intro, it cracked me up (had to watch it like 3 times)
Joffrey should have taken lessons from Lary Strong on subtlety and innuendo. On just a hunch he approached a Kingsguard and besmirched the reputation of the princess; a treasonous act, which the kingsguard can take as caue for execution. On top of that, his conversation is, essentially, telling that guard that he kinows a secret that can get that guard castrated and killed but, "hey, let's be frineds".
If you tickle the dragon's tail you, you are very likely to get burned. Yes, that was a reference to Louis Slotin and the Demon Core.
Except there are laws in Westeros. Kingsguard can't just kill people. They can report the crime and arrest criminals. The trial determines if they're guilty, and the king decides the punishment. Cornball Cole has impulse control problems and murders people who make him angry enough. He even tried to kill himself after he realized how stupid he'd been acting.
In the book it’s at the wedding tourney that Ser Hawrwin Breakbones has his collarbone and elbow shattered by Ser Criston and is from then on known was Ser Harwin Brokenbones
Fantastic review
I live in Derbyshire :) Can proudly say I've walked round the vale haha
Rhea Royce looks a lot like Meera Reed
I love the irony of Viserys wishing he would have been tested during his reign.
Bc he was and ignored the call?
Don’t know if there was a 3rd, but LOVE the Christmas Story, and Simpsons drops at the beginning!!! Had my smiling right from the start.
7:50 . . . That is a Hibiscus plant common in Florida and the tropics
It’s a lot hardier & winters better than a lemon tree.
Dope statement at the ending.
GREAT as always!
Have to disagree about the green torch... In the first episode during the tourney, you can see the Hightower sigil has the green torch as well...
Hearing you say Derbyshire (pronounced Darby shyre) has made my night
Almost - Darbysher. Americans always seem to say Shyer but it's more just a short sher
House Hightower's beacon flame is regular colored-flame, but there is no retcon about the green flame being used to call the banners. It's in Fire and Blood, The Sons of the Dragon chapter.
That's great in all, some notify me when the meme start. 😆 this one will be epic.
First we had littlefinger now we have Big Foot
I so thought he was going to talk about lemongate 🍋 for a moment there. This episode heavily referenced it.
They got no idea what lemongate is
For anyone interested. The pathway to the castle is a real place, St Michaels Mount in Cornwall, UK. It’s very cool to walk along the path and imagine being in an episode of GOT or HOTD 😎😎
In my opinion, I think Ser Joffrey should have kept his mouth shut, he was being a cocky antagonising prick, and to a member of the Kingsguard who’s life is on the line.
Seems like Joffreys don't do well at weddings ^^'
Listen give me your phone 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Incredible
Less than one minute in and I'm dying! Ralphie Parker!!!
I got vessi because I saw it on your channel. I got the everyday shoe and wore it for 3 months before the tread from the sole fell off. Don’t know if I’d promote a shoe that doesn’t last. But the waterproof part is really cool.
The rat nibbling on blood at the end is a reference to blood and cheese
I love how a former dragon rider in Viserys gets sea sick lol.
(i know he only rode Balerion shortly, but still 🤣)
So hightide is st micheals mount in cornwall its beautiful
Good Buster impression 👍
I love the Chrismas Story dub at the start
Did anyone else hear familiar tones from "Light of The Seven" just as Alicent appears at the wedding?
Yes I did. It immediately took my mind to when Cercei blew up the Sept.
I think the last shot is foreshadowing blood & cheese
I wonder if the
Order of the Green Hand will come into play.
16:46...
That's a *FLAIL* in TheArtWork, Not a "MorningStar".
(A "MorningStar" is a Mace.)
The way you said Derbyshire has scarred me
Can we make a link between the rats in this era and the cats that Arya chase in the Baratheon era??
I saw the rat at the end as a nod to blood and cheese
This was the best episode to me.
that rat/blood etc is a very specific reference to future events
You said Leechings, but showed maggots. Two different treatments. And maggots are used in modern science.
It has been something like 6 or 7 years since Daemon made that sheep comment in ep1...
3-4 tops
Great vid when I did my reaction for my channel my brain was all over the place I couldn't think for a hot min. That's when you know an episode is good it leaves you speechless and confused in a good way. 🖤🐉
Aliciant is the top blackmailer. Jason was just cheese crumbs to the trap to rid sir Christian from the princess.
I nearly spewed my coffee due to the Ralphie audio.
It amazes me that Rhaenyra never aged, but Leanor and Leana Corlys did xD
There is evidence in the book of the Hightower fire turning green during war time. (#7 in video)
"Atop the Hightower, the great beacon fire turned a baleful green as Lord Martyn Hightower called his banners."
This is during the time of Maegor I.
The green flame color in regards to a coming battle was in the books
I enjoyed it
WHERE DID DAMON DISAPPEAR TO
Likely won't be the case but it would be something if Larys actually knows all of these little, seemingly unknowable, things because he wargs the rats and listens in. Interesting, yet very unlikely, although House Strong boasts they are descendants of the First Men, which *_would_* make them more prone to having Warg or Greenseer abilities. Like I said, it's very unlikely, but that could be a neat, added concept to make him even *_more_* formidable.
Durbyshire, England 🤣
Its the first time we are seeing a slight b..b armor. If im not mistaken
The final shot can also be seen as a Blood and Cheese reference!! I imagine that’s gonna be worse than the Red Wedding
plot hole question: is there any rule that kingsguard member not be stopped by another kingsguard? there are several of them there I imagine, but none of them acted when the fight happened.. or are they just waiting their master order?
I thought it caught them all off-guard. Plus, the crowd could've made it a bit challenging for them to make out what was happening
