So happy to see Steve doing well in Norway. I played in college and I remember doing drills very similar to these, they're very exhausting. I miss training that hard but we can't all be as awesome as Clark.
Really amazing stuff.....and for those who are saying crap I would love to see you play, you don't even realize how tiring that practice is and how hard it is to even catch a ball after training like that, let alone having the correct technique at all times
Great video! I'll be playing in college here soon. Do you have any tips on what to really focus on when you make that big step from high school ball to collegiate soccer?
very good saves, brillant reflects. I am mostly the same as you but im 5ft 11 which needs a good leep to do goalkeeper but my club recently won the cup and there was scouts from wolves. liverpool, man utd and west ham. So the scout from liverpool wanted me and im going over again in 2 weeks for my final trail.
Dude your amazing! and can you give me some tips on diving because sometimes when i dive it hurts my shoulder/knee, i just started being a goalkeeper at the beginning of September
Excellent vid. I'm 21 and 6'4, and about 170lbs. My problem is i am bruised for days after matches on my hips, i have really bony ones! I wear two layers of padded shorts :/ In your opinion do you find your weight more on your shoulders when you hit the ground after a dive, or on your hips? Useful video btw. Also, its good to see you include the shots that get past you, few goalkeepers videos do that and it actually helps to see how they could have been prevented. Youre top class mate!
...no second barrier if the ball were to go through is hands as speed. However fantastic foot speed, and a good spring, providing him with great agility. Also gets up of the floor well on recovery saves. Keep it up! all the best reflexgk
im 14 and i found out myself that the key to good teqniq is watching many matches or keeper training vids with good teqniq, just watch the pro and his teqniq concentrate and have the sense of the game.. be SICK.
steve great video and so pleased you're a pro now. you deserve it, it's clear you're a brave and agile keeper who works hard at his game. american keepers - what's with you guys??? eg brad F, tim H, kasey K - all awesome !
Every time you read the comments at the end of GK training vids its usually some peope saying how your technique could be better. I just wanted to say brilliant work and very inspiring, I think you have a great future ahead of you with good height, build, technique and your age. A very inspiring video with great technique, just a question what pants are you wearing to train in, is the larger fella your training partner (understudy) and congratulations to your coaches for serving well. Awesome!
Steve looks like a good keeper technically, and shows a lot of potential in these clips. From the footage in this video, the only elements of note are the position of his hands when setting (down by his sides and sometimes in line with his body, as oppose to in front of the line of the body in order to take the ball as early as possible and maybe a little higher, giving him less work when moving his hands into a catching position. additionally, on his pickups, his legs are very wide, providing..
@Poepaanjebroek That is just a matter of preferance. Every goalkeeper coach will teach his students different techniques, whether it is the K barrier scoop, the L barrier scoop or this particullar technique where you open you legs wide to hold the ball. Personally I was taught to use this technique when i trained with my National Team and the Arsenal Goalkeepers employ this technique as well. If your technique is correct, you shouldn't let any balls go through your legs.
Excellent Goalkeeper and great training video, the only criticism I would have is that everytime you "set" you jump with both feet about an inch off the ground... Bad habit! Very talented!
@daddycool81 thanks for the nice message. I have changed things in my game since I went pro but overall the same skill level in this video is the skill set I make money off of today. I was training under armor cold gear spandex pants. The younger guy was a sophomore at Oakland University and yeah, I guess he was an understudy.
@17gibin Wel actually I broke my finger when I did not catch a ball correctly even though I had Finger Protection I needed suggery. If you place your hands correctly behind the ball while catching there is nothing that can happen. When a goalkeeper decides to catch a fast shot the hands of the goalkeeper are formed in a bowl with his dumbs and 2 index fingers forming a triangle. This position takes away, or better said spreads the force over a larger surface of the hand. Makes it easier to catch
@LehmannDaHero I know. Haven't got it anymore. Just had it for those 2 months but never going to wear it again. It really through what you are saying. I'm 15 years old and I've experienced it myself.
I was wondering if this a goalkeeping academy? usually the ones around here in the State I am at only have GK academies for kids our teenagers... hope to hear from you OP , thanks
as a keeper, and i'm sure others will agree, that you can really appreciate the save at 2.50, not the best looking, but as a keeper very difficult to make
@FerrariJunior95 I know at least 3 goalkeepers who have had serious finger injuries when wearing fingersave gloves. I would advise to stay away from that stuff because it hinders your finger movements and your feeling of the ball. Worst thing a young and learning goalkeeper can do to him/herself is getting fingersave gloves.
@17gibin No ofcourse not. I've hurt my fingers multiple times but obviously this ment I wasn't doing it the right way. If you want me to I can make a short demonstration video how to hold the ball properly.
You are an absolutely superb goalkeeper. Technically you are near-perfect, your catching and reflexes are both to a very high standard and I'd imagine that you are one of the best goalkeepers in the Norwegian Tippeligaen. However your footwork is a tad sluggish and as a result you fail to reach low balls quite as efficiently. Work on that and you may have a glittering career ahead of you!!
@XxMightyMonkeyxX well to be honnest, i played on a high level myself, and i'm now training goalkeepers. He isn't that bad, but iff he will ever be a big pro???? i don't think so. And this is an open site, so i can give my opinion, so i don't have to shut up. And college ball................ I'm from Europe, were this is a sirious and professional sport, not a girl sport, or a sport to get a scholarship. But it's ok that you're a fan.
Really inspiring stuff man :) I agree with Halamadrid65, I really have no official training as a keeper, but love playing keeper and have learned from watching the pros
@1234karn1234 yo man, I play for Honefossbk. We were relegated last season from the Tippeligaen to the 2nd division in Norway. Will be back up next year, although my contract is up in December.
there isn't a 'set way' in how to play football. different players play their style of the game in their own way, ESPECIALLY goalkeepers. just look at Pepe Reina. He's in the top 3 keepers in the world, but he plays a style of football that's never been seen before from a goalkeeper.
This training causes fatigue induced errors also technique at 1.34 is completely wrong the "garden gate is open" if he mishandles here it's straight through the legs
A este chico le hace falta tecnica a la hora de hacer la recepcion del balon abajo no flecciona la rodilla y al momento de levantarce para ir por el balon, debe de girar con la espalda. En lo demas anda bien.
thanks for training me last night. I\ve listen to ur tips and it helps me!
THANK YOU STEVE!
So happy to see Steve doing well in Norway. I played in college and I remember doing drills very similar to these, they're very exhausting. I miss training that hard but we can't all be as awesome as Clark.
Great athleticism...and i love the aggression. its been two years, i hope you made it...
Really amazing stuff.....and for those who are saying crap I would love to see you play, you don't even realize how tiring that practice is and how hard it is to even catch a ball after training like that, let alone having the correct technique at all times
The moment i finished seeing the first drill i could see this guy is at a very good level. Great job and keep it up!
This is why America produces world class keepers. Well done.
Great video, thanks!
I would die in first part of the training :)
dude i love your hustle and love for the game!! please keep it up for I want to be a great goalie!
Great video! I'll be playing in college here soon. Do you have any tips on what to really focus on when you make that big step from high school ball to collegiate soccer?
Holy crap, the last save was awesome!

Great vid! Loved your determination and how hard you work.:) Who're you playing for?
steve great video and so pleased you're a pro now. you deserve it, it's clear you're a brave and agile keeper who works hard at his game. american keepers - what's with you guys??? eg brad F, tim H, kasey K - all awesome !

It reminds me so much of the training that i do. it hurts soo bad

Wow you are a really fast goalkeeper :P Very fast feet and good agility.
@FerrariJunior95 have you ever hurt your fingers after you save a powerfull shot even though you catched it the write way
Really good session lads!!!
Ray Newlabd -Just4keepers
great man!!I like it!!!.....iam from malaysia...i want to be great goalkeeper~
Great goalkeeping
Great keeper. I love it at 3:17 when you know youre just not gonna get it lol
intense training

Good response, speed and footwork. Just try to keep your feet closer together when you get behind the ball in case anything unexpected happens.
wow, thats a heavy training, but a good one aswell
good luck in your carreer
good work
I was wondering if this a goalkeeping academy? usually the ones around here in the State I am at only have GK academies for kids our teenagers... hope to hear from you OP , thanks
did you like oakland soccer program because i have been looking to play soccer there or michigan state. hows is there program?
as a keeper, and i'm sure others will agree, that you can really appreciate the save at 2.50, not the best looking, but as a keeper very difficult to make
Best goalkeeper in norway
Awesome
4:37 what a save! how did you get signed in norway?
@stclark23 dude what gloves do you wear right now..?.and which team do you play for?
im curious.. how many reps do these keepers do per set?
Plays for Hønefoss BK now in the Norweigen league - well done.
@FerrariJunior95 have you ever hurt your finger even though you catched it the right way
Hey really good stuff here.
I have some goalkeeper videos also. Where do you play?
@MrBestgolie yes he is in fifa 11
good stuff steve, but why do u do that groan? i've never heard any goalkeeper do that as a keeper myself
i was wondering if the person posted this video knew the name of his trainer, i think he is one of our volenteer coaches.
this guy works hard it is good
your amazing

any idea who the trainer is for when your training with Oakland? was it allen???
Great
Great !!!!!!!
@stclark23 who do you play for at the moment?
@17gibin come alot of goal keapers will punch the ball, but its risky as threre is less surface contact therefore can lead to a goal.
@17gibin No ofcourse not. I've hurt my fingers multiple times but obviously this ment I wasn't doing it the right way. If you want me to I can make a short demonstration video how to hold the ball properly.
What a beast!
Quick point out to people who consider height to be key, ITS NOT!!!! anywayz, Your a fantastic, keep working hard :-)
your a good goalie steve clark
@LehmannDaHero finger savers are ok although i prefere normal gloves..
You are an absolutely superb goalkeeper. Looking sharp. Surprised you open up ya legs rather than drop to knee to cover when it's low? Still, whatever works and keeps ya feeling good.
he should be the england goalkeeper thumps up
last save was fucking awesome
reminds me of sylvester stallone in escape to victory with all the grunting!
Its a good thing youve got good hands, because otherwise those low shots to you would be going through that huge hole in your legs if u missed em. ;)
how does goalkeapers save hard shots and dont break their wrist or fingers... how do you save hard shots
0:48 He sounds like he's saying F-, F-, F-. Lol...
alot better than an average keeper
sickkkk!
Since I'm a lad weighing 16stone... being a goalkeeper is really harder than you think :L
jaja, watch at 4:22, the defense fell hella funny, he put on his knees jajaja. Nice saves though, he is very fast.
I thought it was going to be the West Brom manager Steve Clark
I just herd that stonwall steve took tim howards job on the national team.
HE is a technically soung keeper but he needs to work on his catching
Apologies I meant 1:38
There are many technical errors that your preparer must correct.
@MrBestgolie Honefoss BK in the tippeligaen league
your like joe hart but
better. good trianing mate
But it's ok that you're a fan.
your hilariously overly pumped
Really inspiring stuff man :) I agree with Halamadrid65, I really have no official training as a keeper, but love playing keeper and have learned from watching the pros

dam i miss being goal keeper best i should of never stoped nw am fat lol dam it!!
This training causes fatigue induced errors also technique at 1.34 is completely wrong the "garden gate is open" if he mishandles here it's straight through the legs
i hate when you tip a ball and it slowly rolls in the goal
Very fast feets.
also the ones he let in know one would of saved em
why does he make these weird breathing sounds??
A este chico le hace falta tecnica a la hora de hacer la recepcion del balon abajo no flecciona la rodilla y al momento de levantarce para ir por el balon, debe de girar con la espalda. En lo demas anda bien.
