    What a great idea. I used to make these bi-quad antennas years ago when mobile phones first started. I could hack into the local cellphone repeater and use an unsubscribed mobile phone and make free calls.
    I'm going to make one tomorrow. Cheers Man - you're a star!

    27.6 mm is different from Andrew McNeil (RUclips)and some others that use 30.5 to 31.25 for the quarter-wave dimension. Personally, I think you are more correct and I have also
    used smaller dimensions. GOOD VIDEO and pleased to see you reduced the size to 27.6! (Center band frequency is 2.437 GHz in USA and UK. )

    Hello Kreosan,
    This is a quadro Antenna right size(each side) must be: λ/4
    where λ=C/F ; and F=1/T so λ=C x T
    C=3 x 10^8meters/second(costant)
    If you want an 4g(2600mhz) antenna:
    T=1/2.600.000.000Hz
    T=3.84 x 10^10 sec.
    λ=C x T =(3x10^8) x (3.84 x 10^10)=11,52x10^2meter = 0.152meter = 15,2cm
    So your antenna must have follow size:
    AntSize= λ/4 = 15.2cm/4= 3,8cm.(each side)

    I think the thickness of the copper wire and dimensions if the antenna don't apply for every one, and different regions uses different frequencies for transmission in case of 3g and 4g.

    It's a great video but you can find more details online. If you don't understand this video you need to ask a tech friend to set this up for you. You need to research exactly what you need the antenna for. If you are using a modem that takes a sim card and you want to cover 2G 3G and 4G then you are best using wideband antennas. I believe the antenna in the video is slightly wideband due to the diamond shape but a better antenna might be a log periodic which is a bit more difficult to build. The best setup is starting to get complicated with two runs of coax going to two log periodic antennas. The antennas should be fixed in different polarisations to acheive the best diversity results. This is assuming your 3G 4G modem has two antenna ports. but a y splitter at the antenna might also work. There are also other things to consider like how you mount your antenna. It is best to mount the antenna(s) on a pole above the house (or on a pole in the top of a tree or out in the garden on a pole) or at least on a stand off bracket away from the building. The thing is that antenna alignment can be tricky and you might have to spend a day playing around to find the best results.
    Finally you can boost the signal even further by using a satellite style dish behind each antenna. Now alignment becomes even moe difficult and works best with a good line of sight to the cell tower. So the ultimate might be two log periodic antennas mounted on the end of satellite dishes pointing back at the dish from the end of the arm that usually carries the LMB. Each log periodic antenna should be in a different orientation.
    But even though in theory this could achieve amazing results it has many downsides.
    1. Even if you have good experience and skills this will take you days to setup.
    2. Cost is potentially high but i bet Kreosan could build this system for a low cost. For example by using foil covered umbrellas rather than satellite dishes and by home building log periodics
    3. Space. This installation would require lots of space if using two satellite dishes.
    4. Time. This could take a great deal of time to build and install.
    So yes if you have no other choice and the above is no problem then it could be worth investing. You might be able to save money in the long run compared to home broadband rates.
    Other disadvantages might include the traffic at the cell tower. If the 3G and 4G network is generally busy from other people then you may still experience hiccups!
    I'm sure the kreosan guys could build this system and it would be nice to see someone do a detailed video on this build but i have a feeling it is not their style. Their videos often go for the easy approach and the fast approach. The videos are fun and fast. Perhaps they could try this project and make two videos, the quick version and the long detailed version. To simplify the above technique you could mount the 2 log periodics infront of one large satellite dish.
    The log periodics must cover 2600Mhz or 2.6G for 4G reception and should probably cover down to 800 or 900 Mhz. Such antennas are available on ebay. I found one (800-2700mhz 10dBi Gain 2G 3G 4G External Log Periodic Antenna Outside Antenna) It cost me $25 for one and currently there are no more available at anything close to that price! but don't forget you also need 50 ohm coax and adapters for the connectors. You might be looking at two sets of everything and could need n connectors sma connectors and TS9 connectors.
    It might work better if the log periodics were mounted facing the dish or away from the dish, i am not sure but distances and angles can make big differences and when using a dish alignment is more critical so this could really take days to setup. It should be the ultimate in mobile data reception. There are really not many videos explaining such a setup. Nobody is using a dish with broadband log periodic. I have found some photos such as the 3rd and 4th down on this page: www.qrz.com/db/G1RNB
    If you combine this style with what the guy in this video is saying:
    ruclips.net/video/cB1v_YDqjOk/видео.html
    And if you can find the low cost log periodics or build them yourself then you might be onto a winner :D
    I am starting the project but starting to realise how expensive it is and how much space the dish would use. not to mention the time, and all of this is with unknown results until it is built.
    I will start with the one log periodic, i might build a second and order more 50 ohm coax so i can run in true diversity mode (where each antenna has a different orientation (and sometimes a different location to the other) to try to capture a mix of different signals).
    I bought an unlocked netgear aircard but to be honest the signal is weak with the cheap external wideband antenna provided. It doesn't work much better than the iphone running as a hotspot. But hopefully once i get the bigger log periodic up on a pole i will be getting somewhere. Currently i struggle to see any type of 4G where i live.
    The final issue i have not yet mentioned that might effect some people is that when you use a mobile hotspot the wifi signal back to the computer is not as powerful as that of a base station router so don't expect it to work all over your house without adding extra wifi router extender stations which not only incurs yet more cost, it also might crowd the 2.4G band and start to cause more problem with bandwidth usage and interference on that band.
    So finally a few things to consider if you want to try to break away from home broadband costs or if you have no other choice and are looking for the fastest speeds possible in your area. At least in the future there will probably be better 4G coverage. The problem with 4G is that the frequency used is high so signals reflect easily and they tent to not carry so far so obstacles like buildings and mountains could cause issues. Sometimes good results might be achieved by bouncing the signal from such objects.

    I made it, it works guys! Cheap cable from disposable USB charger and without SMA port connection, just bend an circle open cable as induction to my MiFi.
    At the beginning, I'm not believing this tool, but it's work. From 3G to 4G, full bar of signal.
    Without connection and without cable, it works as GSM antenna. My room just receiving 3G signal for my Android Phone, but if the phone close to this tools, the bar increase incredibly to 4G.
    Just make it and enjoy!

    Thanks for the effort but I’m having a hard time understanding your tutorial! Exemple: when you said “you need to solder the wire to the mounting point and the shield needs to be soldered to the case” ... you’re showing many different devices pictures while explaining Coaxial/board integrated antennas ect... what do you mean by mounting point? Coaxial connector external area? If so then what about the middle pin connection? And by “shield to the case? Shield = wire shield or 2g/3G/LTE modem cover/shield? Case = ?? Since basically the device’s case is its enclosure lol

    If you fix your home made antenna to the LMB arm of a satellite dish so that it is pointing back at the dish. Then point the satellite dish towards the signal you will get a much stronger signal, perhaps 3 times greater or more with a bigger dish.

    Using a biquad antenna without reflector must be done on fair to strong 3G/4G (later 3G is phasing out) signal
    but on weak 3G/4G, add a reflector to retain it's signal strength.
    You may need a 75-50 ohm converter (F type female to MCX male) if you use RG6 cable (recommending cable RG6 Quad shield cable)

      You just need to align the dish perfectly to the satellite and make sure that there are no trees or houses intercepting with a straight sight line to 8° or 13° above horizon (where ever your satellite is located at). The dish also should be clean and especially have no dirt that has only a slight electric or magnetic connectivity on it.

    I need to move to Russia. Things aren't fun around here.
