Agreed. In the movies I knew they weren't going to kill off any kids. In the book I'm terrified for them, especially with the creepy setting of the Department of Mysteries.
i just read the books. I really thoughtsome were going to be picked off. I stopped reading, read ahead, and then kept reading it to my daughter. Shes only 9. I was unpreparedfor the stakes to be so high.@@TC-tl8ie
I always read the book with my kids before we watch the movie, because even the better movies simply leave such a lot out. They are fun to watch, but more shallow. I finished reading OotP with my son today and we watched the movie later and we both agreed that the whole scene in the department of mysteries is longer, darker, more thrilling and, consequently, better in the book. Which is a pity.
The torture of Harry was the event that caused me to look more broadly at how adults were portrayed the in the books. Adults are oblivious and incompetent so it's no surprise the young people don't trust them enough to notify them of the abuse. Dumbledore uses people as pawns, Snape's abuses are brushed aside or ignored by the other teachers, and the Slytherins are consistently awful yet always seems to be in the lead for the house cup. Is that how young people really view adults? When my daughter read the books as a teenager I sat her down during book 4 and asked her how she felt the adults in the books matched the adults in real life. She felt the teachers behavior matched her teachers IRL (she was in public school and most, not all, of her teachers were burnt out), but she didn't understand how the parents could be so stupid. So we discussed how she thought her Mother and I would have responded if she was put in some of the scenarios described in the book. Unfortunately she has had some bad encounters, like most of us did, so she had real examples to draw from and I was very glad to hear she felt she would come to us for support. I know all kids are not raised in the same environment but I definitely recommend reading the same books your kids do so you can use the stories as jumping off points for important discussions.
It's great that you can connect with your child and have deep conversations about the concepts, she'll be a very smart woman one day able to use critical thinking skills with what you've taught her.
You sound like a very interested, hands on parent. Wondering how your child is perceiving the world, and figuring out how to ask her these things through something she’s interested in, like Harry Potter, is very deep in itself. I’m sure your kid will fare just fine in this world. She’s got you, not everybody can count on their parents for their intimate thoughts, you have to build that bridge of trust with them. That’s a very powerful tool in life. The genuine love and concern of a parent makes all the difference in who they become as adults. She’s blessed to have you.
I swear Imelda Staunton is the bravest actress that ever lived from what I heard there wasn't a single person who applied for umbridge and she only got the role because she was the only one but how she played it was phenomenal but that's why I would have been like I'm going to need hazard pay and a good health insurance because I'm going to need so much therapy with all the hate mail lol but it turns out people really did love her and honestly I'm so glad because I can see why people did not want the role LOL

The end of the Cold War and the societal changes that took place in the 90s etc… What exactly did you expect to be going on? I think the ending when Voldemort is killed for the final time, in the books is so much better than the movies. In the movies no one would even know he was killed or who killed him.
Indeed. The movies would have us believe that Voldemort was a subhuman monster, when the fact was, he was just a man. A maniacal, tainted, inbred shell of a man, but still just a man, and he died like one.
I always thought the Ron in the brain room scene was one of the most ridiculous scenes in the book. I'm glad it didn't make into the movies. It was almost as ridiculous as spew.
I just thought of this! Did dumbledore KNOW that Voldemort would try to kill snape?? He knew Voldemort wanted the wand, And would find it, and he prob guessed that voldy would try to kill the previous owner for it, and maybe thats another reason he made sure Draco wasnt the one to kill him.....?!?!?! Oh my....
Of course, Snape is just an another man whose death was planned by Dumbledore. In his plan to defeat Voldi, he planned to sacrifice many but not himself, until the curse on the ring forced him change this plan. Somehow, Voldemort made him become a little better man 😂
Long story long Dumbledoors plan was to have Snape kill him as a “mercy” as he was marked for death anyway from the ring, and because it was an established agreement between the two, the plan/theory was that because it was an agreement and not a “dual”, the elder wand wouldn’t succeed to anyone and it would “die” with Dumbledoor by technicality. Draco doing what he did was never part of his plan, everyone had the belief (wrongly I might add) that the only way to take ownership of the Elder wand was to kill the previous owner… which also makes no sense when you consider Grindlewald wasn’t killed, so it’s hard to really understand what their theories were based off of, let alone what Dumbledoor was thinking about in those last moments. TLDR: Dumbledoors plan was for himself to be the last “rightful owner” of the Elder wand as technically Snape didn’t beat him in a fight/dual. It’s all rather confusing as his plan revolved entirely around a theory.
I don't know if they were dark per se... But in order of the phoenix the scene with mcgonnagol and unbridge when discussing harry's potential future after hogwarts and him wanting to be an auror. The 30 dark aspects covered over 3 videos have been great. I would like to see some of the more triumphant aspects that the movies didn't quite capture. Harry bonding with Kreacher over the death of Regulus. Kreacher leading the house elves out of the kitchens to fight. And, most of all, Neville's full story. edit: one particular satisfying part of the books was Harry repairing his own broken wand that he loved so much by using the Elder Wand (the only wand powerful enough to fix a broken wand).
Yes! Thank you! I was so very disappointed with this being left out of the movie, as well as the difference of Harry breaking the Elder wand in the movie. Of course in the book, he replaced it in Dumbledore’s tomb for safe keeping, knowing that the power of the wand would be broken when Harry died a natural death.
1:36 I’m actually glad that was omitted from the films. It’s unrealistic because of a phenomenon known as infantile amnesia. Basically while its inclusion in the story may have added a touch of drama, a baby physically cannot form long term memories. The challenge of a fantasy author maintaining the readers suspension of disbelief is hard enough without the inclusion of scientific inaccuracies.
That isn't strictly true about babies not being able to form long term memories. A groundbraking BBC Child Of Our Time episode about exactly this, proves that. I myself, have memories of wearing these fleecy sleep suits. I asked my mum what age group one of them was and she told me, 0-6 months. Wow! It was big for me when I was wearing it. I can remember sitting up and playing with the soft plastic feet on the bottoms of the legs because I liked the feel of it. I also remember sitting in washing up bowl playing with water or in a plastic baby bath, I had a swing in the back garden or yard, but mum says I was just a toddler when I was swinging in it. I remember sitting in a highchair at one of mum's friend's houses, I remember staying overnight at my Grandparents and sleeping in a cot they had there for me. Mind you, we used my old baby equipment for my cousins when they were born nearly 9 years after me. I remember opening presents on my second Birthday and a few other baby related things like that.
Harrys breakdown in Dumbledores office always makes me tear up. I obviously have not gone through the same situations as Harry but i can relate to feeling so angry and done with a situation you cannot escape that you go into a rage. Am i proud of it? No chance of that when Umbridge is dealing. You'd have probably been in a whole lot more trouble if not expelled or sent to Azkaban as Fudge fully intended I'm sure, to send Harry there if he hadn't been cleared of any charges.
I don't think I ever thought of this that it's not harries worst afraid moments that the dementors bring up it's Voldemorts fear of dying that is triggered every time the dementors come around

@MountainFisher I'm on mobile, so all the adds. Has 4 mid-rolls, and the before and after video start ads. Yea, 6 ads, but still. 6 ads for this video is too much.
That's often RUclips's doing not the uploader. And yeah, I wish to God above they'd stop it. Google makes gazillions from adverts that don't interrupt anything at all; this is unadulterated GREED.
i have to agree that not showing voldermort ordering nagini to eat the person was the correct choice. it might not be aimed for the youngest audience with deaths, war etc in them but it would be aimed to an audience that might be to young for that specific sceene.
Umbridge, in the books; you didn't show everything (thx YT), shows symptoms of having been... revise your Greek Mythology to see what centaurs liked to do to women...
Cool video but... Please have your graphics people STOP using those photoshop filters. Just leave the images as they are, Your channel is above the need for such ridiculous enhancements.
Honestly, who cares.. These videos are more or less just background noise, you don't need to stare at the screen for the whole video since it's just pictures and screenshots from the movies. I just listen to the commentary while I play games. It's such a small thing to complain about lol.

bruuuuuh link to part 1 and 2 in your description you are losing views. I know I'm not the only person too lazy to sift through your whole catalogue to see if I've already seen them!
Done!

Good looking out!
I’d a walked out of that detention the second it started
No chance of that when Umbridge is dealing. You'd have probably been in a whole lot more trouble if not expelled or sent to Azkaban as Fudge fully intended I'm sure, to send Harry there if he hadn't been cleared of any charges.
What if Umbridge had actually succeeded in expelling Harry Potter?
@@DrakeSmith-tn6ij Dumbledore wouldn’t allow it
Plus the type of detention she had
I don't think I ever thought of this that it's not harries worst afraid moments that the dementors bring up it's Voldemorts fear of dying that is triggered every time the dementors come around
I like this channel and all, but bro, can you please not put 10 mid-roll ads in your videos like you're leaving fried chicken crumbs for Sirius to find you?
What ads?
@MountainFisher I'm on mobile, so all the adds. Has 4 mid-rolls, and the before and after video start ads. Yea, 6 ads, but still. 6 ads for this video is too much.
@@D.M.Mortem I only saw the sponsor ad in the middle. That's wild mobile has that many ads.
That's often RUclips's doing not the uploader. And yeah, I wish to God above they'd stop it. Google makes gazillions from adverts that don't interrupt anything at all; this is unadulterated GREED.
this is an amazing comment
Barty was already supposed to be in prison f the trial lol
Slashing spell aka a knife xD
i have to agree that not showing voldermort ordering nagini to eat the person was the correct choice. it might not be aimed for the youngest audience with deaths, war etc in them but it would be aimed to an audience that might be to young for that specific sceene.
Also with the OWL'S

Umbridge, in the books; you didn't show everything (thx YT), shows symptoms of having been... revise your Greek Mythology to see what centaurs liked to do to women...
All I can say is…ouch.
Well, considering what the lore of Centaurs were, they probably took Hella turns and left her bukkaked 😐
LIT
you know umbridge got gaped by those centaurs
Cool video but... Please have your graphics people STOP using those photoshop filters. Just leave the images as they are, Your channel is above the need for such ridiculous enhancements.
???? I get you’re being “nice” but you’re being kind of rude too

@@angelcastro3129But you're TELLING someone to do something. That's not a option
Honestly, who cares.. These videos are more or less just background noise, you don't need to stare at the screen for the whole video since it's just pictures and screenshots from the movies. I just listen to the commentary while I play games. It's such a small thing to complain about lol.
